Newgrounds already has anthro stuff, and frankly although this is needlessly artsy it's puts most of the NG crap to shame anyway.

Actually, reading the comments are a hoot. Most praise it, and some warn it's close to furry, but the author obviously is with teh fandumb, for the statement in the author's comments 'She's a fox because I'm a fox'.

Oh, but the comments provide this highly enlightened fellow.

You speak of this like it's the most horrible thing since High Tail Hall. I thought it was rather cool considering the fact that it was hand drawn and of pretty good quality for it being done by an art student. Most NGers couldn't fucking animate their way out of a paper bag.

I have to agree with Stoney. Not everything furry sucks. Remember it's not the fox that walks and talks which is there for mocking, but the person who drew said fox. This is not Disney level work, but it's also not an atrocity. Once in a blue fucking moon a furry does something right.

With that being said, the comments were more amusing than the flash.

I thought the animation and art were pretty darn good...the only thing that really bothered me was the glaring typo in the title. Someone should tell the artist that "mirror" only has one "i". ;P

But then again, my opinion probably doesn't mean anything because I am OMG TEH FURY!! ;D

As far as it being pretentious or trying to express some sort of emotional response that people have no background to "get" in an animated short like this (no setup).. it was just a project for school.

I always enjoy these type of pencil animations... Like that one that Samantha Ann Patterson finished recently Free As a Bird

There was one on deviant art I had seen also set to a Sifl & Olly audio track that I liked but cant remember the URL for. I dont across these things too often (probably cause Im looking that hard, but whatever :) )

Christ! That person has talent. This has no business being posted anywheres called an atrocity archive.

This belittles the vast majority of anything that I've ever seen on NewGrounds. She only used Flash as a frame aggregator - not as a compositor. Most of the people posting works there couldn't do cell-by-cell animation if their life depended on it. The atmosphere of the piece - well that's up to the viewer. I found it beautiful.

If the fact that it's a "furry" animation burns some folks, well...too bad. I'm glad that I had a chance to see it, and I hope that she continues to create wonderful stuff like this.

I was mainly referring to the ammount of effort involved. Most of the stuff on Newgrounds is Flash that employs a small number of drawings with only segments being moved or rotated to achieve motion. This one uses a single drawing for each individual increment of motion. Time consuming as hell. The characters proportions are maintained fairly well as it moves, too. She did a good job storyboarding as well - it flows well from scene to scene. The backgrounds are ok, and blend well with the character. And personally I liked the darkish atmosphere of the piece - charcoal and pencil has a raw, aggressive look to it. The soundtrack was appropriate.

The time and effort involved shows. There is some stuff on Newgrounds that is done very well, and IMHO this one is no slouch. I usually think of Flash as the lazy-mans animation tool - this person only used it to assemble the frames into a strip.
