Wither, a poor man's metal band - official site here - have an animated video for one of their songs here. Furriest animation I ever saw: Angst, supposedly tough-and-mysterious-looking characters, and really crummy animation... Can't very well say "enjoy", but there you go.

PS: obviously the artist behind the video has a VCL account. Nothing really bad there, though.

Although, there is at least one major musician which dabbled in furry and did not overtly incorporate it into his music.

I don't think that's drawn. I think it's vector, especially considering how it moves. Is there more than the wolf's head? I couldn't bare more than 30 seconds of the video.

Although, I know of one no-name band that has anthros as a theme in their advertising. However, they are in no means related to furry fandom.

This just in, it turns out that Macromedia Flash is indeed a vector program. This is has been confirmed.

Actually they most likely did what is took a pencil drawing, scanned it, and traced it in Flash. Flash's vector tools are very basic in comparison to say Illustrator. Lines automaticly snap and attach to others and filling is a snap, which makes it an easy vector coloring tool for newbies, but fustrating for pro vector artists. As a matter of fact, I used to draw this way in Flash myself. You can often tell when a still image has been done in Flash. It's tell-tale in Boston and Shaun.

I'm pretty late here but i finally watched the whole thing. I'm weird, when i see something really terrible, i get embarassed even though i had nothing to do with the making of whatever it was, a few furry documentaries come to mind where i got so embarassed seeing these idiots that i just can't watch it.

This video was a prime example of that, before when i tried to watch it i couldn't make it past the first scene with the wolf thing walking, it was just too stupid and cliche. That was seriously terrible, the static shots of the band, specially the drummer where hilarious though. I sincerely hope money wasn't involved in this. I can see what most likely happened. The "artist" knows people in the band, volunteers to make a music video for them, they're hesitent but don't want to be dicks about it so they give him the green light. Three days later the video is finished and the band collectively groans behind the artists back and tries to distance thereselves from it but can't stop it from being put online.

Seriously though, I think many many furries who don't want to admit it's about sex, but who also take the fandom very seriously like to state that furry is about questioning what is 'human'. Although this is a valid conversation point, it's still furry and a hobby shouldn't be that deep.

the corniest thing about that video.. if you could call it that was the "desperatly trying too hard to be goth" feel of the song. The drawings were good, but the animation sucked.

I'm probably being all incoherrant and shit, but what I'm trying to say is that for a group of people obsessed with anthropomorphised characters, they really don't appear to have much interest in them. Would kinda suggest that the whole "It's not about the sex." arguement is a crock of shit - but then everybody knows that anyway.

Well, in all fairness, 9 out of 10 times when a self-proclaimed 'furry' makes a story, or image or anything about furries that isn't sexual... it's boring as all fuck. Furry has about as much to do with Anthropomorpics as Stars Wars has to do with robotics, yes, that's a large element but it's all but worthless to the plot, and doesn't further the concept in fiction, and frankly, could do wholly without.

Furry, especially the anthro characters in furry, are just a loose theme there to make for better and more varied roleplay/character 'masks' than as a crucial element. It's similar to the Star Trek races getting cosplayed, roleplayed and fanfictioned. It turns a group of mostly white, geeky, bi-desperate males into a wide universe of colorful diversity.

In furry though, unlike the Trekkies, it's just the general backdrop for quite possibly one of the largest confederations of fetishes known to man. A typical furry doesn't just fire up VCL and jerk it to a vanilla vixen. He has a laundry list of fetishes, and the producers (artists and authors, even con planners) cater to the fetishes they feel fine creating for rather than just churning out something original or whatnot.

"Don't like it, don't look at it" has become not only a subsidiary defense of furry at large, but their dogmatic code on conduct with which they hold all their varied fetishes together. Of course, to make most cases apply, you have to define 'fetish' liberally, like considering Yaoi a fetish rather than just a subset of homosexuality, or an obsession with fursuits to be a fetish even if there are no SPHs on the suit. Escapism in general can be a fetish, but apart from maybe Otakus I know of no other group who section themselves apart and ally themselves on the types of jpegs they like to fire the surgeon general to moreso.

The heart-on-their-sleeve method to their sexuality, especially their fetishes, is propbably why furries moreso than other larger IRL groups get mentioned and mocked so often online. You can spot a furry from a mile away, and he'll likely tell you wether he likes BDSM vixens or 100 foot tall dogboys at the drop of a hat, where ass a man who enjoys a non-furry BDSM session or a non-furry GTS fan will know that it's not the proper context to discuss such things outside of their little groups online.

Using animals to represent human traits and illustrate points is common and the concept predates "furry" by several millenia. That's why I hate it when furries pretend there's something deep about the fandom or (random example) say things like, "Oh, yeah, ancient Egyptians were totally furry! They had gods with animal heads!" It's like "fluffbunnies" who go around saying that Wiccans were unjustly persecuted way, way, way back when the religion's not even that old.

I think furry is prominent enough now to say that something falls under that label only if it was created for the sake of being furry or within the furry fandom itself. Liking things that weren't created to be furry is fine but that doesn't make them furry themselves.

...OK, what the fuck was that? Why the fuck was I trying to make sense out of that shit? :P
