I question if it was even there to begin with, and the internet just exaccerbated the situation. I adore the internet, but I have a healthy dose of fear for it. I went from being too weak-stomached to even watch a PG-13 movie to easily dealing with Maggotgirl in just two years, which is a testament to how stupid random clickery is.

I guess the upshot to having my soul tainted black and my heart turned to solid granite by the horrors of the internet is that nothing is capable of fazing me now. Disgusting as it is, the idea of Flintstones slash seems almost mundane, compared to some of the shit I've seen. There's porn of everything on the net. And I do think it is, at least to a large degree, there because of the internet. The net makes it possible for people with odd and unusual interests to meet online and bask in those odd and unusual interests that they'd earlier have had to keep largely to themselves.

As for the porn, I think a lot of the more wigged-out porn is made by people who just get a kick out of pornofying things; that is, they don't so much get off on it sexually as they think it's funny to break a boundary by making porn that by all rights shouldn't exist. That some of the readers/viewers very likely masturbate to it is another matter. At least that's my theory on this...

It's true some people do this for shits and giggles. But there's a clear difference between satirical porn and actual porn. I could write some extremely explicit Pacman porn, but the tone, word usage, and scenario in general would make it pretty obvious that it was written for comedic value. I think the horror reactions are coming from wierd porn that is quite obviously not written for comedic effect.

I'd comment more, but I'll admit I haven't perused any of these stories myself, partly because I'm at work and partly because I don't hate myself quite that much.
