Yep, the author must be one of them "sex is expression of love for EVERYBODY" freaks. Typical he's a furry to boot.
Maybe he and Jay can pretend they are each others' sisters |

False alarm. Just below the comic the author comments: "Oh, and before you start saying I'm ripping off Better Days, I'm not. You'll see as the story unfolds." |

Retard? Naw... The stories aren't rivoting, but his art isn't half-bad (it's improved a lot in the past year). Actually, I think his illustration style is rather unique and very clean compared to a lot of the crap out there.
Mutt is probably a kid or a very young adult. He's definitely new to this and even admits he needs art lessons--which to me is the mark of a potentially decent artist (too many assholes think their chicken scratches are masterpieces--and are too short-sighted work on their skills).
There's a childlike quality that you just don't see in dialogs written by adults--it's in the illustration, too, but the illustration is much stronger. It seems the artist tends to borrow/copy a lot off from others. He even took the ad line from Vince and Arty (a decent"furry" comic about a male gay couple). But that is okay. That's how a lot of artists and story writers start out. Hopefully he'll grow beyond it and his stories will catch up with his illustration. |

No, he doesn't.
His ego showed through when he did a "donation drive" similar to the one R.K. Milholland of Something Positive did. The Something Positive guy basically said, "if you want more strips, give me $20,000 and I'll quit my job" - and, to everyone's surprise, he managed to raise the money and kept his promise. He wasn't at all expecting it to happen, and most people nowadays write it off as a fluke.
Now Mutt decided to do a donation drive of his own on his own strip: Perki Goth and Candi Raver. He actually expected it to get as far as Something Positive's did. The problem is that both had the same goal - twenty grand - yet Something Positive is one of the better webcomics out there, while Mutt's is average at best. He said that he would take art classes to improve his work if people paid him $20,000. That's very different from admitting one's art is bad - that's more "will consider improving for food". |

That also demonstrates the furry mentality of developing artistic skill for fame and fortune, rather than for personal enjoyment. For most artists, the desire to improve is inherent, and drives their efforts such as sketching on almost any piece of paper with a blank space... including things like ATM receipts... and buying books and/or taking classes to help them improve. If you'll consider improving on the basis of whether or not someone pays you to do so, you're in art for the wrong reasons. |

OT: can anyone tell me the story behind that image? (and don't try to tell me ol' Nocty from the POE forums finally flipped the fuck out and turned furry... that would make me a sad little skunk). |

I'd say it's a damn shame though that people don't pay some artists to improve, or better yet in some cases to put down their pencils and never ever draw again. |

Hell, the one thing that's really key to artistic skill is free, even.... observation. Sure, technique and style count for something.. but you have to be able to observe things and really conceptualize what makes them look the way they do to capture it on paper. A good example are matte paintings for movies. When you see it on the screen, it's sometimes hard to believe it's simply a painting. Then, when you look at it up close, it's far from photo-realistic. The artist simply manage to capture why something.. like fog, or city lights in the distance, or whatever.. looks the way it does to us. And, fundamentally, that just takes a good eye... which you can develop for free. |

It's simulation over representation, and that's why they're so good. |

1) It's CYD; don't waste your breath trying to defend anyone here because, honestly, no-one's gonna listen.

If you're gonna be a troll, learn to spell, hmm? If I'm not mistaken, I see a huge line between MUTT ROCKS! You guys are just jelous he'z better then you.
and I like Mutt's stuff *insert logical explanation here*
So instead of trolling someone for disagreeing with you, maybe you should... OMG have a logical conversation with people? |

I'd say it's more the latter.
I'd say that, should there be a single person behind those aliases, he or she is trying to make some of the CYD folks to talk about the comic and, if things go fine, to have one of the talking heads here on CYD to type a complete review of the comic. It seems reasonable to think this person is closely related to this comic, like, say, one of the authors.
That person started by introducing us the comic, and then, since the thread was going quite slow and they weren't getting what they wanted, they used sockpuppets in an attempt to squeeze more CYDesque comments. Twice. Until Mitch came and unmasked them.
Actually, it's the second time in a few weeks I see somebody directly related with a webcomic trying to poke CYD in search of comments or critiques. (Here's the first one). And I find it amusing. It may be connected with The New Meat's excellent critique of WCOTP. Or maybe it's just that furry comics need now a "seal of disapproval" from CYD in order to get ... er... more status or the stuff. But I find it quite amusing. If the flow of cartoonists trying to promote their stuff continue, we'll have to open a forum for them, entitled "You suck too!" subtitled, "post your comic here and we'll do our best to deflate your swollen ego" or the stuff, and moderated by The New Meat. That would be cool.
Or horrible. |

It's a badge they could wear to show their friends. 'We're so edgy and furry, even those CYD mundanes don't get it. It must be deep and artistic, why else would they hate us?' Like those kicked from the furry MUCKs or SA Forums. Some furries thrive on rejection...
CYD becomes the arbiter of 'real furriness'... what irony!

Maybe it's a hazing ritual. You're not edgy enough as a furry comic artist until you've taken CYD head-on.
Something the furries forget.. and we sometimes might here as well (at least going by text alone, rather than subtext)... is that online comics are one of those places where one man's trash is another man's treasure. My wife and I were talking about this the other night in relation to anime, music snobs, folks that praise one TV show and denounce another. It's really all just opinion. The particular topic of our conversation was Twin Peaks. Neither of us has ever had any interest in it, and I can quite honestly say I've never seen a complete episode. I was recalling the time wherein it was THE show to watch (about the same time as Northern Exposure, which we were watching at the time). I didn't want to watch it... she didn't like what she saw... so we were comparing how we both had had people tell us that we "just don't get it."
It's the same with music or comics or whatever... the popular notion these days seems to be that if you don't like something, you're just not capable of "getting it." The simple fact is, some people want to "get it," and others don't. Why? Pure opinion. It's really not a case of, say, Are You Being Served being better or worse than Survivor... it's just who you ask. Some like one and not the other. Others are vice versa.
So, to "just not get" Mutt's comic or Naylor's or whatever is, really, primarily a matter of taste. Our trash is some furry's treasure. So, we're not some panel of judges defining the worth of this comic or that picture. We're just a bunch of schmoes expressing our opinions..... largely for what we don't like.
If someone else likes it... huzzah. But, it's not likely they'll have much success discussing their adolation for brother-sister kinsex on top of a wagon of simulated foreskins here. |

I think, and this is just my opinion here, that the problem comes from the fact that you guys come across as extremely vehement and the message, rightly or wrongly, as not one of "Bleh, we don't like this and think it's fucking weird and creepy , but whatever..." but more of "YOU ARE AN EVIL SICK FUCK AND YOU MUST DIE!!! WE ARE THE VOICE OF THE HIGHEST POWER!!!". Sometimes that's justified and sometimes it isn't. |

The IP address resolves to something that looks like its based in McLean, VA but the Mutt guy says on his webpage he's from Texas. |

I dunno much about how specific IPAs are, but if this was a college server or something, could it not be three folks from the same school? Not that getting your cronies on board for your schemes is much better than sock puppets. The time frame in which the accounts were all registered is a little suspicious, too.

You can't rule out proxies either, which will show up as the end-user's IP when used. I also see it resolving in Virginia, just outside Arlington. The chances of the statements put out from all three accounts being three different people is entirely too small. So here's the plan, we'll smoke some pot, split up, set up some goofy trap, get chased by the person, then in a hilarious off-chance accidentally catch him, that's when we'll pull his mask off. |

I meant in my post I am guessing all three accounts are the same person, but not the same person as the author of the webcomic.
