This may just be a personal pet peeve, but I'll go ahead and ask anyway.
Is there any way to have threads auto-lock after being idle for X-amount of time? I'm getting sick of these newbies coming in and posting their mindless "LOL ME TOO" BS in threads that have been dead for months (or in one case, over a year).
Either that, or a "Check the date first you dumb fucks" rule would be great. |

I agree with being against the "LOL ME TOO" type of posts... Which is why at least personally, unless I actually have something to add, I dont say anything.
At the same time, I think there are times when resurrecting old threads is ok. particularly if the new post has actual substance, in which case I think the age of the thread shouldn't even matter. So, some people might have to review the thread a bit. No big deal.
I dont take it as much of an offence. I think some people go to far with the 'netiquette'/FAQ-thumping sometimes. (Not saying thats what you or anyone here is doing, just sayin) |

Well, I do agree that, if there's some actual substance and/or reason to post in a long-dormant thread, it's not that big a deal. And I certainly don't want to seem like OMG FORUM RULES NAZI or anything...it just bugs the hell out of me when people dredge up old shit to post the equivalent of 'iawtc'. Especially so when it's someone's first post on the forum - it's like their entire purpose of registering was to dig up something the rest of us were done talking about weeks/months ago.
(...then again, these are the types of people who don't understand the concept of giving up a grudge.)
