It seems I really struck a chord with some random person on Yerf's LJ Community by posting a link to the Furrs Fur Christ page and using the words "clean" and "Christian" in the same sentence. Some people takes things way to personally. Read it here before it gets taken down.

There's a difference between 'drama' and 'just fucking stupid'.

Congratulations. You've found the stupid ones. And, yes. This backs up what I'd said in the 'Furrs Fur Christ' thread. OMG THE CHRISTIANS ARE PERSECUTING US!

It's been taken down now. Nothing more to see. But it was a rather entertaining few minutes. Le sigh.

Daaaayum Stoneth.

As a note, I'm assuming you're the Stoneth on the FFC board, as well. I have a question. WTF is UP with their RP thing. THere's like.. no direction, and half the people don't even pay attention to anyone else. Reading through it made my head ache. ;.; You should join in and smack them into intelligent RP.

I am that same Stoneth, but I personally find the RP thread to be too convoluted and massive for me keep track of (let alone hold my interest) so I decided from day one to stay out of it. I guess you and I are in agreement of it. I might consider joining in one day, just give me a six pack of Mountain Dew and a bottle of ritalin first.

Cripes.. Folks like that get offended by the mere mention of Christianity simply because they want something to be offended by. Sure, the Christian church has a fair number of stupid and publically outspoken folks lately, but you can't bring up Rev. Phelps and his ilk every time you see a cross or someone mentions what church they go to.

What's funny is this webgodd_s guy appears to be on a rant about how not everyone thinks the same way as Christians do. Yet, his insistence that his point of view be not only acknowledged, but shared is, in itself, a call for people to think the same way he does. The blind dislike of Christianity by some nonChristians these days is just as absurd as the dislike some Christians have of nonChristian religions.

Looks like anybody can get offended on both sides.

Sometimes I have a feeling that it's trendy to make fun of christians, but if you make fun of any other belief they shun you. :x

If it has become trendy I'd guess it's a backlash to increased visibility of Fundamentalist types in the USA. Might have something to do with our Commander-in-Chief scaring the crap out of nearly half the country (not to mention the rest of the world) while spouting off about God every chance he gets. I've noticed my own anti-Christian bias that I used to keep to myself has been showing publically more and more since that fuck got a second term. Perhaps it is a trend...

I don't like the man either :x , but to me, it doesn't seem right to lump every person that is a christian in with the assholes who call themshevles one.

Where's the tolerence if people start hating a whole group, when the rich fools are in the nice, fancy houses with brand new cars?

I agree. One's religion doesn't automaticly dispose them to a particular type of behaviour. This is one thing that The Web Goddess couldn't seem to get through her thick skull.

Lumping all the fundie nutjobs together with all the other Christians is like saying that all Muslims are terrorists. I don't care for our commander in cheif too much (I am a US citizen, BTW) because he seems to be making the same mistake that many political leaders have done, which is letting one's religion rule one's politics. Believe me, you can actively practice a religion and still hold a position of power, but religion and politics do not mix. They simply don't.

There seem to be many Christians (or a few VERY loud ones) who feel the need to rub others' noses in their beliefs. Unfortunately encounters with Christian proselytizers are apt to jaundice one's view of Christians in general the same way Muslim terrorists don't do much to help the image of their non-terrorist bretheren. It's exactly the same thing we see with the furries; some folks feel a need to display their fringe perversions to the public, insuring that anyone even loosely connected with them picks up their stigma. Of course one ought to be more tolerant of another's religious beliefs than another's kinks, I believe. Both are private things, however, and making them public is inviting criticism.

Unfortunately, this sort of thing works on more of an emotional level instead of on one's reason, so a lack of tolerance can develop in one such as myself, who ought to know better. As such I do find myself with a slight anti-Christian bias that wasn't there a handful of years ago. I don't think I'm alone in this, either.

I stayed late at work the other day, so afterwards the boss took us out to lunch. I'm always up for free food and hell, who isn't, so I went along.

Anyway, at some point the conversation turned to Iraq and I'm thinking "oh fuck, real life political discussion while I'm eating". My disenchantment soon turned to outright discomfort when it became clear their views were filtered through fundamentalist Christian doctrine and the Book of Revelations. In their world analysis, Bush and America's role in Iraq was to hold off the Muslims until the final battle and the coming of the Lord. Also, the advent of the Antichrist.

I failed to interject that for the Antichrist to rise to power, there needs to be a vacuum of leadership in the highest seat -the President of the United States- and that Bush being a fucktard (and to a lesser extent, Clinton's sex scandal) would be the perfect precurser to grooming the world public for a charasmatic newcomer to quickly fill that role.

The food was decent though, and I managed to veer the discourse off topic enough to keep me distracted (by rubbing the waitress' breast with my elbow, for instance... which is sort of the way I carry on here now that I think about it).

When did this turn into a political discussion?

When people stopped being able to keep their political opinions to themselves, wanted or not. Hell, I know how Cher voted. That's. Not. Right.

But regarding the topic at hand (because staying on topic is wonderful-funderful), hot damn on a skillit with cheese this is funny. First off, is it me, or are these "I'ma gon'n be 'fended by 'dem 'dere Christians" people always parroting the same canned arguments? Talking points, if you will. And it's always something done by a Christian or Christians, not something about the religion itself. To my knowledge, the Christian faith is all about the fact that Jesus was God's son, and he taught people to love each other and be equals. I really can't see what's wrong with that. But, then one has to dissect the intelligence of idiots trying oh-so hard to be intellectual....

Christianity = most popular religion in America. If I get offended by it, why, gee-willikers, I'll be a unique individual! I'll totally be enlightened, 'cause I'll see what they don't! DEH EBILS of Jesus!

Plus, you've got the Bandwagon Morons who jump on whatever trend is around, and trying to be "above" Christianity is an obvious fad amoungst faux-intellectuals.

Oh well, let 'em keep on doing it, I say. Why? 'Cause it's fucking funny!
