This has prolly been mentioned before, but just in case...

This weekend we watched The Shining for the first time in a long while. I had long forgotten the scene at the end with the dog-suit man giving the socialite a little something-something. Maybe I had blocked it out because the scene was so horribly unsettling and perverse to me. It seemed like something unreal, something that, thankfully, wouldn't really exist in our rational world. Except, now I realize that's not the case, and that the entire fursuit-BJ thing is all too real.

I was just amazed that as far back as the 70s when this film was made there was a perception of the perverse link between furry animal costumes and man-on-man sex.

Jesus Christ, I laughed so hard (even though it was a pretty disturbing scene) when I saw that in the movie, but I completely forgot about it since ... didn't even connect it to furryism. Interesting point.

Oh, THAT'S where it's from.

I know I've seen that in someones avatar or sig, somewhere, but I never knew what it was from . I figured some sort of schlock B-movie or Roger Corman flick.

GUHAAHHH.

I know I've seen The Shinnin' before, but it must have been an edited for TV version, cause otherwise I DON'T THINK I COULD HAVE FORGOTTEN.

I've also seen the miniseries, with the living topiaries and zombies and shit. It was decent.

I kid you not, it really was in there. I remember watching it on the USA network when I was about 9 or 10 and absolutely freaking out at this scene. Every time I've watched it, this scene, and trust me, it's not much more than a few frames, stands out as the scariest thing in the movie, to me anyway.

I don't know if this was actually in the book though. Here's an interesting article contrasting the book and the movie which mentions the scene.

I can also vouch for that scene. (I've got the movie on DiVX) I watched it for the first time about a year ago and was startled by this scene. It's just one of those indescribably creepy things that isn't gory or scary, but so horribly off that it really gives you the willies.

The article Monica linked to says that Jack's wife, who is the one that witnesses this scene while running in terror through the hotel, is experiencing visions of the Hotel's past when she sees this. This would mean to me that this weird activity took place in the Hotel before. Maybe there was a haunted furry con there? :)

Either way, its interesting that it was used as a one-shot portrayal the depraved, menacing nature of the hotel's past, whereas nowadays there are websites (www.fursuitsex.com NWS!!) that are dedicated to selling you the same kind of imagery...

Maybe I don't get it.... What is so bad about dressing up and having sex? Yeah, ok, it's a bit kinky, but it's not anything far off from what might be suggested by a marriage councilor.

Not trying to troll, I'm just curious what you find so offensive about it.

Personally, like any other legal kink, I have no problem with it being done in private, but that's not always the case. At cons, some suiters wear ooooh so obvious unexplained shorts, and others still get lewd or frisky in public with the suits on.

I find the quiet, private fursuit-fucker is in the minority.

edit 'fucker' not 'funner'!

Well, ok.... That would be messed-up, I'll admit. I haven't seen anything like that, but like I said, I'm still pretty new to all of this....

I definately agree it's something that should be done in private.

There's nothing wrong about it. Not at all.

We human beings are complex by nature; thus, our sexuality is complex too. So, as long as nobody gets hurt, and everything is kept private, anything goes.

The problem is when things aren't kept private. In normal people, a mere leak of one's sexual life outside the realm of privacy is usually embarassing.

But, in general, furries behave quite differently. Most of them decide not only to slip their private lives outside, but ocassionally, they like to parade their sexual preferences and kinks, and shove them on everyone else's face, either by publishing them on archives or web pages with little or no restrictions, or taking their behavior to real, everyday life, not realizing than their attempts to appear serious and deep are, to say the least, laughable.

And that's precisely what we usually do here. We come, point and laugh at what we find on the Internet regarding furries. We find pictures of them hidden on webpages and blink in disbelief. How come people could behave like that? How come people can find this picture or that fursuit sexually arousing? Or why do some .... artists... draw what they draw?

We don't expect to find answers to those questions. We know it's hard, if not impossible, to explain why those people behave the way they do. We just come, gather on this forum and shake our heads at what we see.

However, gathering here doesn't mean we're negative. Several of the psoters here draw furry stuff, and even furry smut. But even themselves realize about how silly furry fandom can be, and thus they come to say how bizarre the fandom can be in ocassions.

For us, the behavior of some furries is amusing, to say the least, and thus, we gather here to be amused.

I hope this answers your question in some way.

Yeah -- that helps a bit. A bit cliched at this point, but I guess whatever blows your hair back, right?

I'm in the same boat, too -- still in work and nothing better to do.... I get out in 15 mins, though, and then I can go home and smoke a bowl (woo-hoo)

There's also the matter of overdramatising the furry phenomenon. Furries would have you believe they're as persecuted as blacks or gays or the handicapped, or other REAL minorities. They base their argument not on a physical or sexual or gender reality, but on the simple fact of their kink. They like to have sex while wearing fur. Okay fine. Get together, do your thing, more power to you as long as you're both of legal age and consent. BUT, when you start crying for acceptance- not only for yourself, but for your friend who has sex with his stuffed animals, or the other online pal who has sex with her dogs...that's a whole different thing. I have yet to meet or hear from a fursuiter who says "What I do is my private business...if you accept it fine, but your agrument is invalid because it really doesn't effect you." I would absolutely accept that. But no, the argument tends to be OMG WhY u ArE fuRRsEcutINg MeeeEEee!!!111 L@@k aT mY PicS! U r A naZI!!!111 It's drama, it's ego, it's the selfish desire to force the world to respect your fetish...and it's absolutely stupid.

Remember in Star Wars Episode 1 where Yoda babbled on about Fear leading to hate, etc on to the darkside? Well, the same works for furry- Fur leads to Yiffing, Yiffing leads to a breakdown of your will and morals, and that leads to TEH FURDUMB!

Soon you will graduate to full-fledged "n00b", then "n00bler" and eventualy "n00blie n00b".

But only the most hardcore n00b will ever make it to the coveted "über-n00b" status!

What the hell? There's no mention of "The Sweetest Thing" on that list. That movie had a scene where one of the chicks was having sex with a dude in fursuit of Eleroo from The Wuzzles. If that doesn't qualify for that list, I don't know what does.

I must have missed that one (thank God) unless you're reffering to Plushie Schwartz or possibly this (very cool indeed).

The Masturbating Bear. Appearing ever so often on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, the bear masturbates furiously through a diaper, often to circus music. Along with Triumph the Insult Comic Dog and Pimpbot 5000, the Masturbating Bear makes Late Night stand out among the evening talk shows. And shame for not knowing that (nationality disregarded).
