Long-time CYD favorite Jay Naylor discovers "Better Days" has acquired an entry on Wikipedia...

I knew someone had recently linked to Better Days from a fairly well trafficked website due to the inordinately large ammount of fan-mail I was getting from brand new readers over the weekend and into this week. My friend McGroarty realized I was getting a lot of new hits off of the entry that someone wrote up for Better Days in the online encyclopedia known as Wikipedia, or as he calls it, the Hippy Encyclopedia.

He notes some inaccuracies...

Another inaccuracy was at the bottom of the entry in the "Politicis" section. The inaccurate portion is currently deleted, so you can't see it. Aside from eluding to my possible racist tendencies (aren't you getting tired of this simple minded nonesense by now?), the last segment went on to explain my open attacks on "unpatriotic" people such as the "draft-dodging Principal Longfellow". Chapter 5 clearly showed that Longfellow was a member of the Army, but wasn't stationed in Vietnam. It never questioned his patriotism, but was clear that he was discharged from the Army for aggressive fraternization and other behavioral issues. In the mind of the typically mentally-lazy internet liberal, this translates into an unpatriotic draft-dodger, somehow.

Check out the history page for that Wiki article.... the usual edit/counter-edit that always hits furry articles. Oh, and looks like someone added a link to New Meat's CYD piece on "Better Days", which didn't last long :)

In contrast, it is worth noting that the comic does display fairly liberal attitudes towards relationships and sexuality.

I didn't realise fucking your sister was what good liberals do. Curse you, biased left-wing media for not telling us this!

Good thing we've got the Hippy Encyclopedia to inform us of the truth.

I love Wikiedit drama.

Oh damn, inaccuracies in a wiki? They only publish those once a year, right? Damn all this liberal software!

And for shame, good sirs!

Ha, the link was deleted by Salmanazar and re-added 1 hour and 54 minutes later by Chipuni, who put it there in the first place. He did add a warning, though - now it reads: "Crush Yiff Destroy's Review of Better Days (WARNING: NEGATIVE REVIEW)" :)

Well, given that it IS CYD...who spend more time bitching about the fandom, than actually trying something that would improve it...

Trying to shame the entire fandom into dissolving is about the only thing that can improve it at this point, as long as people in diapers and fursuiters wearing shorts are still welcome at conventions.

"Improving the furry fandom" is a Quixotic ordeal.
Or simply, impossible.
Only a fool would try where even gods would fail.

The furry fandom is too absurd to bitch about. 'No, Dali, clocks don't melt like that!'

Dayam, it changes before I've halfway read it. I'm watching the CYD link flash like it was college girl's chest at Mardi Gras...

He's right! We do way to much bitching! We should do things to improve furry! Like how The Burned Furs tried to improve the fandom! Look how great it is now thanks to their effortless work!

Oh wait, sorry, my mistake, it's still the same. And The Burned Furs were dipshits. Hmmm, at least our hearts were in the right place for a brief millisecond.

I guess furry is beyond saving. Might as well just stick to "bitching" about it some more, eh chaps?

FURRY SUX LOL score one for us!

...Now ~that~ guy was a douchebag..

Then my work here is done.

Already seeking his next challenge. The fight is all.

I would take him so more seriously if he didn't whine and bitch so often to me on AIM, but alas Beo is one of those sad individuals who hides from fandom reform rather than encouraging it. He likes his herm macros too much to care about bad things in furry.

What's really ironic is that he supports Fisk because they live in the same state, but Beo is one of the most LIEBRUL people I know. It's almost like his philosophy is that the world would be a better place if opposing parties just sucked on each others dicks.

I am all :D at the latest revision.

Review of Better Days from a site dedicated to tearing down members of the furry fandom deviating from their set of standards

From the Discussion page:

CYD is dedicated to expressing "amused contempt" for portions of the furry fandom. It's a group of provacateurs one-upping each other in a competition to create the wildest satire and worst bile. If referenced, it deserves whatever warnings would be used for any other hate group referenced in discussing the object of their hatred.

I think the CYD review should be taken down cause its causing too much "strife" here. It seems no one will leave it alone.

A hate group? I don't recall reading anything on this site about how many days dead furries have been burning in hell. I must've missed something.

And honestly, that review of "Better Days" is what got me interested in this site to begin with. I was actually fortunate enough to not have been exposed to the comic before, but it cracked me up.

You are such a leftie, New Meat.

But... yeah. After reading review and wiki article, I guess Better Days isn't something I'd add to my favourites list. Far too pretentious and whiny for a webcomic. A bit like Jack.

It should be more like Beaver and Steve. All else pales in comparison to posh cockroach nemeses.

What's this? Why I was under the impression the WikiPedia was the ultimate infallible source of information gathered by a commitee in Switzerland and presented after many years of debate. The Internet is serious business after all.

Well at least this is slightly less pathetic than the drama that a certain man who believes himself to be a rubber pony has caused over a Wiki article.

He's a RUBBERKIN and you'd better respect his people and his beliefs!

So CYD is a hate group now? I'm now ashamed to post here for I am officially a bigot. I guess it's only a matter of time till some furry gives the wrong guy some hugglescritchiepounces and he beats the living shit out of said furry while shouting "Fucking Furry!!" and gets his normal assault charge upgraded to a hate crime and goes to jail for 5 years instead of overnight.

I can certainly understand Why no one wants to leave it alone. The more I read of their site the more it reminds me of blackface comedy. It actually makes me feel sympathetic towards "furries".

Being a furry is exactly like being black in the south ...

:(

Isn't "68.199.46.6" Naylor himself?

Thats just retarded. Being black in the south means being jamaican and wayyyy too fucking proud of it.

Or at least thats what it means way down here.

You said it. From his journal post:

The most glaring and surprising was the line at the bottom of the "Storyline" entry that stated the "The comic is appearently semi autobiographical..." which couldn't be farther from the truth. I was really unsure how anyone could come to the conclusion that my life was anything like what's portrayed in the comic, so I simply deleted that little line out of the entry.

It's funny seeing someone post that under the name of "Fisk Black." If he really doesn't want people to think he's his character, he should make that distinguishment himself.

I think he's just crushed he didn't get to have sex with his sister.

So wait, Naylor didn't have sex with his sister now? I'm confused :? . So i guess fisk is NOT a Naylors fursona and the whole incest thing was a metaphor right? Or maybe it's fisks cry for help from being from a broken home and it's solely to build empathy with the reader? Naw i'm pretty sure he pounded his sister rotten, what a sick bastard.

And the poor furries, what the blacks and jews went through is nothing compared to the heart wrenching fursecution the furries go through every day.

I'm tempted to register on Wikipedia just so I could keep editing the autobiographical comment back in, if for no other reason than to hack him off. If Fisk isn't consciously autobiographical, then Naylor needs to give some consideration to just how much he's channelling through his characters. I'm sure Gonterman doesn't consider his stories to be self-inserts, but that doesn't change what they are.

Frankly by himself Naylor doesn't bug me. I know way too many people like that anyway, and I can sympathise with the "THEY'N AIN'T TAKIN OUR GUNS" spirit. I'm a weapons enthusiast myself. I don't make it into a religion though. And if Hyenas are black, cats are white, mice are Jewish, I'm curious as to what the dogs are. Asians? Latinos? I dunno, were I making a comic I'd have chosen regional animals. There's a chance he WAS making rascist subtexts, what with the general promiscuity and odd behavour of his hyenas and of course the maus reference. However I've never seen any evidence of anti-Semitism. Maybe I'm just too naive.

The only one he admits is a self insert is Adam "Davey-kins" Pacbell. Yes, I know a lot of guys named Adam who go by the nickname of anything resembling "Dave," don't you? *ahem* At any rate, we're supposed to believe that the other characters that look exactly the same (that guy in the Foxfire comic, for example) aren't him because he says so. :P
