Hey, remember that old show Bucky O'Hare? Remember the bad art and 5 voice actors that took on every role in the show, with horribly over-acted accents?

Well, These guys do!

TO have written three years of fan-scripts of an obscure televesion show requires a special form of dedication, borderline insanity, but that's not why I'm putting this on CYD, oh no. The scripts aren't TOO bad, though there is some really exhausting overuse of farscape lingo and random insertions of characters.

As you may or not know, CYD is reputed to have threads go off topic in three pages or less. The message board on this site is ATROCIOUS. People go off topic, machine gun post, and it goes on for 15 PAGES. Yes, 15 PAGES OF UNFUNNY. And most of it is furious E-masturbation over their fanfiction and fanfic characters, which are mostly laughable. I wake up with a cold sweat in the middle of a night with fear that wrathful mods are smiting me off this board due to my previous Off-topicness, but after this trainwreck of a forum, let me just say THANK GOD for the mods here.

Yes, a fanscript site has a fanfiction area. No, it's not good. It's horrible. How atrocious is it? One guy has like 15 stories about his god-like character "Kinjite" who can summon god-like powers and romances every female character, ever, even ones he just made up. BUt the worst part is, all these people tell him and other writers like him to keep doing what they're doing, an atrocious idea. It's not QUITE gonterman bad, but still.

Also, they demonstrate several furry symptoms, such as over-tolerance and support, furry roleplay, almost rabid worship of female furries, and of course, over-reacting immensely to trolls that sometimes drop in, thus causing massive LULZ. Despite all this, there is no NSFW-ness, besides one terrible fanfic, so I can't put it in the Atrocity Archive.

Any one have any disturbingly fanatical furry 80's cartoon sites they want to laugh at?

I don't think anything HAS to be pornographic to make it to the attrocity archive. Fuck, if this was a new show that just started I would put it in the attrocity archive, much like the Lunatics have resided there for quite awhile. I don't remember much of that show but i remember it didn't hold my interest when I was 5 so it's probably pretty a pretty lousy cartoon.

“Bucky O'Hare and the Toad Wars” began in the mid-'80s as a comic book about a green anthropomorphic hare who, with his crew of other mammals (including one human), fought toads in an intergalactic space war. In 1989, it became a cartoon show and ran for one season. There was also a video game for the NES, an arcade game, lots of action figures, and various other merchandise.

He forgot to mention that every single one of these Bucky O'Hare ventures were utter and total commercial failures.

Bucky and his crew were silent for most of the '90s, but now, with the Web series, the adventures continue ...

Now this I don't get. I can understand doing a bit of fan art or fan fiction. It can be fun, it can be a way to train one's drawing/writing skills. But trying to "continue" what you're a fan of? If people have that many story ideas (bad or good), why not develop their own characters and fictional universe? It's at times like these I'm reminded that "fan" is short for "fanatic".

I had a look at their More Aldebaran questions thread, and hoo boy. All that youthful energy spent on nonsensical babbling. Kinda impressive, really.

Oh, that can't be as bad as what I ran into yesterday. I had a friend ask me to read something they posted on fanfiction.net so while I was there, I poked around.

Do you know there are over 200,000 Harry Potter stories? Holy crap, do these people have no lives? And 99.99999% of them are WHO IS SCREWING WHO!

Can we just shoot the human race, please? Every time I forget how pathetic fans are, something like this happens.

The point isn't so much about Bucky O'Hare, it's more about the sheer insanity about how they're worshiping this show and being all lollerific about it.

Also, I think computolio would have murdered that "Aldeberan questions" thread a thosand times over and have banned everybody if something like that happened here. I mean, christ on cross, they're beyond off-topic, it's just... dumb.

This is fucking scary.

Then again, I'm just glad I haven't found mention of Jack on that forum. Just imagine! "Bucky and Jack are green rabbits! Thry must be related!!111!" Sorry, I only brought that up because I can't think of a lot of other green rabbits.

I liked Bucky myself even though it was on TV when I was just getting into High School., but I'm sure if I went back in time and watched it all again, my views might change. Thing is, people need to remember that the show failed for a reason..if it had any sort of real, noticable fanbase, it would have lived. (EXOSqaud bitches!) and this was when just about anything was on TV, if I remember right.

But like all 80's stuff, it's getting it's temp revial in a fashion. There's said to be a movie they are shopping around (Someone will make sure it gets made)
and a release of new toys in the fall, done in the "Todd's Toys" fashion. What I can't get is why for fan fic, they can't do better as fans of the show back then have to be adults..or allmost adults by now.

So, I founded the site and now I help run it. I'd just like to clarify a few things: The people who run the site and the web series are not furries. We hate them, hate them, hate them. I am myself am a SA goon. We like writing fanfic, but that doesn't mean we're sexually attracted to the characters on the show.

Because of the growth of furry fandom, over the last few years, our fanbase had been slowly infiltrated by furries who think this is a safe place to play. They make usernames like PlushieLover, they submit erotic Jenny fanart (which is all rejected), and they do other things of obsessiveness. At times we have discouraged them, but you can't really stop a furry from being a furry, or Something Awful would have done it a long time ago.

We try to maintain a level of professionalism about the site, but in message boards, t hat doesn't anyways happen. Also, the fanfic section isn't very good but that's where we often dump stories that didn't make it into a the web series because they feature some stupid character who, yet again, is Aldeberan, but is super cool and has even more mystical powers than all of the Aldeberans combined.

If you ask me what I'm doing in Bucky O'Hare fandom anyway, I can't really explain it. I enjoy it, even if the comic sucked. I just wanted to say, speaking from the site founder, runner, and from all of the other people who have worked on the site: We are not furries. No. Fucking. Way.

Well. That said, anyone who likes Bucky O'Hare (as a few people on this thread apparently do) is welcome to check out the site. You're free to steer clear of the message board, which is admittedly messy, but we don't moderate it much because it's a place for fans to communicate. Also, two of the most egregious over-posters are aged 14 and 16, so yeah, I let it slide.

And, to the original poster -- did you actually read all that Kinjite crap? Even I didn't, and I update the site.

Wow. The site's webmasters actually came all the way over here to apologize. Now I feel sorry for you two, having to preside over all that.

Just a thought, here. Nobody likes or wants to be a nazimod, but sometimes the alternative is much worse. See: this forum. You have to be cruel to be kind, as the saying goes.

You know, I kinda did a similar thing with Secret Of NIMH, but eventually it got kind of embarrassing and I didn't hang out with the obsessive crowd (which had dwindled down to almost nothing anyway) anymore.

This was also so long ago that most of the furries who showed up were kind of civil. It really wasn't until Portal Of Evil came along that I discovered the crazy behavior the subculture was capable of.

So, I founded the site and now I help run it. I'd just like to clarify a few things: The people who run the site and the web series are not furries. We hate them, hate them, hate them. If you need to get this defensive, you should rethink the whole "publically loving the holy crap out of Bucky O' Hare" thing, because you're going to get that question a lot. Just because your obsession isn't sexual in nature doesn't make you that much less of a dork.

Has anyone seen "Cheep Productions"?

It's...kind of like that... well... maybe a little less weird.

Ok, but it's the same situation. He gets fanart, really good fanart.

I thought this was all a joke, until I actually saw him at a convention, complete with home-made 'I Love Peach' shirt.

I'm not sure why I was so excited. I think it felt a little like seeing bigfoot.

OMG I TALKED TO HIM ONCE. When he was AOLD. As some of you already know from my run in with Rapid T Rabbit, I have a helper complex. I told him that he wasn't cripplingly ugly and his bizzare obsession with romance would make some women flip out. Okay, most women who bitch about wanting a delicate lover really hate it when they find it. But basically I told him the internet was a vast place and he could easily find a real girl to love, meet her, and get out of it. He basically said that no women could compare to Peach, and he just didn't WANT a real woman.

Oh wow. You could just go down the list of neuroses with him. The list starts at self-esteem issues and just goes straight down the madness spiral. You can look at furry to see what happens when the zeta males get desperate, but THIS is what happens when they completely give up.

And here I thought this sort of thing was confined to Japan.

With the littlest effort, I can befriend any person off the internet that I want. I've proven this several times. The anonymity of CYD allows me to share a bit...can you say "David Hopkins"? Not just him, but several of his friends. Not Katellis, I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole. But outside of furry too. Pokemon fandom, real life, goths, BDSM practicioners, swingers...I can get anyone to talk to me with ease. I've only told one fur I spoke to that I was on CYD, and I was able to convince him it's a good place. Although I hope to god he avoids it.
Not all my associates are famous, but I have quite a network. I don't have the patience for an autobiography, but I could give some amusing anecdotes about famed furs as well as ones little known outside their friend networks.

Never understood the "featheries". Oral sex is awesome, i'm sure they don't fantasize about getting it much from something with a hard, sharp and pointed object instead of a mouth.

Why would furries be vegetarians? Cuz they look at porn? :|

I've never heard of people becoming vegetarian over a porn fetish. I haven't eaten meat since i was 8 and i'm not a furry, no parallel there and besides, the noble griffin and the yiffy fox/wolf/dragon's eat meat yet some how they don't get fat like the furrys do. THe internet LIES

I used to have the biggest crush on Jenny the Cat, when I was like, 13 or something.

I can sort of do the same, except I found out I don't have the stomach -or the sycophantic drive- to keep it up for long.

Woo, I'm a syncophant now? Usually I keep this to myself and all, but the ones I divulge about without fail have always backstabbed me, unless of course they proved to be so noxious they never got close enough to do so. What I am is VINDICTIVE. But other than that slice of sour I often genuinely wanna help people.
