Post subject: Is some of the non-sexual stuff wierder? |
|
|
I'm reading the article from the "Old Stuff by New Meat" topic here in Chit Chat, and it basically twigged what I've felt all along.
A lot of the non-sexual stuff seems to be wierder.
Now, all fetishes have the lifestylers. They're the ones who, instead of just getting tied up or tying others up for sex, have some sort of master-slave relationship going on ALL THE TIME. Check out "total power exchange".
Furry porn runs the gamut from relatively vanilla straight or gay stuff, to really, really damn insane. Now, of course some people have freakier tastes in their fapfodder than others.
A lot of the non-sexual stuff is perfectly normal. Creating fantasy worlds and shit. I play RPGs and electronic games and Warhammer 40K, so I really have nothing to object to. And if sex does show up sometimes, yeah, it also does tend to IRL (I fuckin' hope!).
But, as with BDSM, the wierdest bits are the lifestylers. Because I can understand smut, and I can understand creating an imaginary world: Both are hobbies (I'm not gonna call all the porn a fetish, since hey, porn's porn, and probably to some the furriness is secondary to the porn). But when somebody (and not necessarily an Otherkin) tries to make their entire life based around what a hobby, a fetish, whatever, it gets wierd.
I ought to explain that I tend to compartmentalise my interests. I'm generally nerdy, but that's a theme: I don't wear clothes connected to the music I listen to, I don't read things connected to the games I play, etc.
The lifestylers just really, really wierd me out. The Otherkin are just plain crazy, literally mentally ill in some cases I'll bet, but the lifestylers have managed to delude themselves.
Thoughts? |

You mean people that can be summed up in the term "obsessive" ?
Paracelsus said that everything is poison as long as the dosage is high enough. These people sure poison their lifes. |

I haven't heard the term otherkin before, I'll probably regret this but can someone explain it to me? |

An otherkin is nothing more than a person who considers him or herself to be non-human in some way. They will often claim that they are an animal trapped in a hyooman body, have the soul of a dragon, can feel where their wings/tail would have been, are really vampires/werewolves, or otherwise don't feel wholely human.
Needless to say that otherkin are among the saddest in human society.

They are mentally ill.
I've heard of people who are mentally ill thinking they're vampires, and actually developing psychosomatic conditions like burning easily in the sun. Might be BS though. |

   Your right, that's the saddest thing i've seen, and it's not even furry :o
They're souls are derived from cartoons and videogame characters that don't acctually exist for those that don't want to read the worlds biggest TOS. no wonder they get a lot of flames in there hhahahaha!

I don't want to know what my Oatatotem is.
A friend of mine is heavily into the whole Shaman thing, and believes she's a grey wolf.
Anyways. Yes. Alot of things that arent necessarily dirty are just as much, if not, more trainwreck-worthy than the porny stuff out there.
But the porn horrors are much easier to come by, as there's more of it, and it's more widely distributed.
Although, I'm trying to decide what's worse, at the moment of two pictures I saw today...
A limbless bloody dog-seahorse-thing from VCL Horrors, or a TDK/EWS picture I saw recently of Jolly Old St. Nicholas doing Minerva Mink from behind.
REALLY MAKES YOU THINK, DOESN'T IT.
HMMM. |

Pity theres not enough time put into it to make it AA worthy. Most likely the "artist" knows how lame it is and didn't invest more than a half hour to it. |

I don't know if anyone has mentioned Boston & Shaun here yet.
But, my god. It's like it was written by a retarded pedophile on acid.

It's so surreal that it's brilliant.
At least last year when I read through some of the early comics. I recall one where the kid was complaining that his soup was cold so in the next panel the dragon was breathing fire on it and in the next panel the kid is all MY SOUP MELTED MY SPOON
i love it. |

Boston and Shaun disturbs me, in a way. Because it is "An abnormally obsessive preoccupation or attachment" to something, and therefore is a fetish, sexual or not.
In that way, yes, the non-sexual stuff is weirder, because if it's sexual, we can file it away as yet another entry between Freud, the DSM, and The Kinsey Report. It's not as easy when it's 'merely' an obsessive compulsion. |

Boston and Shaun. Is that...? Oh God, yes it is. >_< I think the fact that it's not overtly sexual, yet is rife with fetishes, is what makes it so mind-bending.
On the upshot, all this experience with thought patterns that are simply not human will be of great use when we make first contact with alien races. |

I'm wondering how the Boston and Shaun guy (I assume) figured out how to make a website. And why did they all suddenly and inexplicably turn into kangaroos? Hyoomans too hard to draw? |

The non-sexual stuff is weirder because that in itself is unusual and different from your run of the mill furry porn. Furry porn is always just the same old thing over and over and over... |

While I agree that the non-sexual stuff can be weirder, I don't think furry porn is just "the same old thing". Furry pornsters have been very effective at making up some really grotesque sexual scenery... I mean, some of the things linked to in the Atrocity Archive - yeeek! |

May I volunteer a suggestion? Hagfish hard vore yiff. Pure gold. They liquify their prey, and as I've said secrete copious slime. Flexible, jellylike in consistancy and if I remember right the species is hermephroditic. Really, I'm surprised it hasn't been done already. |

Unfortunately, hagfish aren't considered sexy, so it's not likely this will be done. You need cuddly-yiffy foxes or awesome-powerful dragons or somesuch.
Even more unfortunately, furry liquify-the-prey porn has been made. A very NSFW example, courtesy of this thread. |

I actually remember an article from a few years back in which someone pretty much said exactally that. I searched about for it but couldn't find it. I'm pretty sure it was a "Savage Love" coloumn, in which Dan Savage said that he could personally understand some weird fetish thing more quickly than some bizarre otherkin thing, but he phrased it much differently than that. Anyone else able to find a link to that old coloumn? |
