Or rather Live Journal! Or at least this one particular Live Journal! I don't know, you figure it out!

This journal is indeed closed. The decision was made a while ago, but today's been the last straw. I don't blame the people -- LJ just seems to drive all conversation down to a juvenile level, at least when you let the juveniles near it, and I've been just as guilty of it as you have. No hard feelings, but this is still goodbye, and I still should've done it a lot sooner.

Criswell predicts that "closed" means "going private-only", considering that his ratio of private to public posts is already something like 3:1. Keep watching the skies!

(edit: re-found my train of thought)

He, and yes, considering he's a postmodernist, technology must bring out the best in the intellectual elite. Of course, it still is just a drug chronical and ego stroking journal, like any other furry's LJ.

I thought postmodernism is the belief that existence is a gestalt of information to be interpreted on an individual basis.

But it's been a long time since I've been in a philosophy class.

Postmodernism is about becoming better than the masses while putting as little effort into it as possible. Joining the elite is the price of a thesaurus.

Oops, or that's how the college age kiddies and their unemployed friends have interpreted the movement. Way to go, Posty! Send Proto my love and keep on truckin'!

Postmodernism is a misused word, is what it is. The term originated in architecture in the 1970s, and refers to architecture, art, or literature that is critical of modernism. Postmodernism is an artistic style or method (essentially a late modernism itself, btw). Using the term to mean anything else is a misguided attempt to sound intellectual while being too lazy to look up the word in the dictionary.

I'm not surprised one bit. I know a few "postfurries" and honestly two of them are good people. The others I've met are annoying as hell and need to get out more. Then again, the same could be said for me, but I'm just an asshole.

I still don't get 'postfurry'. I mean, just because you speak in big words doesn't make you any different kind of a furry than a furry with a thesaurus.

Livejournal userinfo on the 29th:

Yeah, right.

Disappointing. I hate when people play stupid games and don't stand behind their convictions, in the name of pseudo-theistic flourescent fluidity. The biggest problem I have with postfurry is that it's too full of people who don't say what they mean or mean what they say.

More like dramadragqueen. Yet another furry who spouts "leaving the fandom, back in five minutes". I mean, Jeez, he pulls these stunys and expects his horde of yesmen lackies to be more mature?

I don't know what people like that hope to solve by going "SOB I LEAVE NOW YOU ALL = STUPID POO HEADS". Way to totally win the day with your superior intellect! All the updating just proves what we knew all along - he's a loudmouth blowhard who doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about. Nuff said.

I don't know what else I can say to beat this dead horse any further. He's arrogant and stupid and we've even had an article about him, so...

I'm going to resort to namecalling now. POSTVIXEN = STUPID CRAPFACE

"No no no. Fluorescent green would look so much nicer with his cyan fur... TRUST ME."

"It's spelt 'knot', like a knot in a rope, not like the other 'not'."

"I'm thinking your climax is weak. Why not have your wolf take a shot of X, or maybe cocaine. That'll work"

Actually, it's very common that since many here have the odd furry contact, that someone doesn't know a person someone else is mocking. If you don't think he's a complete blowhard dickwad of a furry, good for you. WAIT IT BE A NON-CONFORMIST.

If the chat logs he came back with are any indication, the conversations had there must be hilarious to listen to. It's the same reason everyone here keeps following Better Days even as they all point and laugh at it.

THE SNARKING IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE!

Complaining about the bad features of something is not, incredible as it may seem, incompatible with wanting to make it better; crazy, huh?

"Like it or leave it" is probably the mother of all erroneous dichotomies. I figured you of all people could understand that, Mr Potato Head:

It's possible to be a babyfur without being a diaper-shitting infantile babbler, isn't it? Further, it's possible to be a babyfur without being a diaper-shitting infantile babbler, and to grumble about the fellows who are diaper-shitting infantile babblers, isn't it?

I posit that it's possible to play on the Puzzlebox without being a latex lesbian catgirl, and to grumble about the fellows who are latex lesbian catgirls. If you have a different opinion, then that is fine and you are welcome to keep it.

It's also possible to be in a NAMBLA meeting without being a child molestor. It doesn't mean you won't get the bad association from the typical fare of the group you are with.

"You are the company you keep."

Not much unlike Xydexx or 2's foray into PoE, somehow furries just assume that because some member of their group somewhere, somehow was trolled by someone less-than-supportive of furry it gives them divine right to troll ANYTHING they see as anti-furry, be it SA, PoE, here or even things like the Penny Arcade forums.

Unfortunately, furries don't understand the purpose of trolling. Instead of taking the 'lets poke these weirdoes and start shit' approach of a troll, or even the more avant-guard style Ashi Moto trolling... they just troll for the sake of righting all their injustices.

It also shows they have no idea what CYD is about. Just being a furry and posting here doesn't a troll make, even if you argue with the 'blame furry first' sentiment. See Mouse or Stoneth. The least they could do is be an honest dipshit of a troll and get banned in a glaze of glory instead of a stupid whiny 'HOW DO YOU LIKE IT MEANIES' rant.

Or they could actually listen to the arguments presented, look in the Atrocity Archives and read some Donotsue or ZenZhu nuggets of wisdom.

But no, because furry apologists are fucktards.

And the furry dude was drawing uh dog people or something

And the first thing out of the furry dude's mouth is IT'S NOT ABOUT SEX HONEST

And that makes a tengu laugh

But at the same time, it makes a tengu sad.

On this fursuit community I'm a part of (shut up) there was this college guy (who was pretty hot, but that's besides the point) who was a furry and went fursuitting on his campus or something and some of his peers wrote things on his doors like "GO HOME YOU FUCKING FURRY FAG" or something like that.
So he posted it on LJ and got all these replies like "THATS SO IGNORANT!"

1 down, 231,342,239 to go.

And for those still wondering, postmodernism is bullshit. Furry is bullshit. Hence, postfurry is lots of bullshit. Seems simple to me.

Oh you say that now, but I will be here in the world long after the very memory of postfurry has otherwise faded. Watching the flotsam and jetsam on the river go by. Counting the furries who've self-destructed. To hark back to a post on the first page of the thread...

"Do what they say, say what they mean
One thing leads to another
You told me something wrong, I know I listen to long
But then one thing leads to another"

Theory is bunk. Reality is postvixen has bit the philosophical dust.

:P Heh, I'd love to try and refute these accusations of shallowness, but in all honesty, I can't. I'm one of the 'functions' (staff) of Puzzlebox, the schmooze staffer.

I'm here for two reasons - one, I figured there oughta be at least one PBX presence here besides Squizzle that wasn't pissed at Squizzle, and though I admit I'm a tad annoyed at him, he's still cool in my book.

Two, one of our less level headed EX-staffers - one of the ones you assholes so love to mock - decided to @toad Squizzle in a fit of understandable but un-cool pique, so... DRAMA! Anyhow, Squizzle, I'll have wrested power from the previous reign in a bloody coup before the week is out, so we'll have you back soon enough.

But seriously, man, be funnier. Most of this stuff so far is weak. You should be able to come up with much sharper, cleverer jabs than this.

...wtf Xydexx wannabe?

Y'see, this is one of the problems with furrytypes - the whole concept of what's already funny and what "needs more funny". We're not here to entertain you, we're here to make fun of you. Ergo, nobody gives a flying fuck what you think. (though, a 'flying fuck' DOES sound like something one might find on Puzzlebox...)

Just my opinion. My weak, unfunny opinion, as it were.

Furries only find their tormentors unfunny because they seek a different humor type. Instead of "Haha, furry X is is a retard over Y, look at the lulz", you'd prefer some sort of mock-both-sides thing, which ends in a "JUST KIDDING, LET'S YIFF". CYD isn't some stretched out 2 Gryphon rant where the moral is "HAHA furries sometimes, kinda, maybe, sorta, occasionally suck... minus you" it's just unrestrained lols.

For a comparison; would a Conservative find Jon Stewart humorous? yes, they maylaugh at themselves some (but not enough, like furries), but the delivery and end lesson of the jokes they would prefer would be so different. Now, Jon Stewart understands, and doesn't care. He has is audience which DOES find it funny. Think of CYD like the Daily Show, and it should all make sense.

I'm one of the 'functions' (staff) of Puzzlebox, the schmooze staffer.

'Functions'? That sounds scaily like something out of Brave New World.

I guess we need to go write some new material then

You calling our insults tawdry is obviously an insult, and it didn't amuse me :|

Come on, your a puzzleboxer, the most elitist, educated and highbrow of all the furry cyberfuckers, surely you can come up with something better than that! Oh wait, you probably didn't write that for our entertainment.......imagine that.

"*Le sigh*

If only this mindless mass of mentally midgetted mere mortals could invoke and emotion from me apart from utter ennui. If perhaps they cease masturbating to each other’s impeccably lowbrow jabs at the general furry archetype at large, I could understand their useless little plight and perhaps aid their morale with a slight guffaw of my own. Alas though, they prove more ignorant that I had hoped. I bid you adieu, CYD.  "

Say what? The Squizzle character-object is still alive and unwell. (EDIT: Oops, no it isn't, I was thinking of something else.)

But seriously, man, be funnier. Most of this stuff so far is weak.

"There are those who, in their pride and their innocence, dedicate their careers to writing humorous pieces. Poor dears, the world is stacked against them from the start, for everybody in it has the right to look at their work and say, 'I don't think that's funny.'" --Dorothy Parker

I feel like I'm in some sort of pseudo-Shakespearian play which is a cross between Invader Zim and 24, except every cast member is a walking anthropomorphic penis. So inbetween hilarious cutscenes where the characters vie for supremacy based on how tall they are, there's a constant air of misdirection where characters constantly switch sides or perhaps they were always on the other side after all!! PERHAPS SQUIZZLE HAS BEEN POSTVIXEN MANIPULATING THE INTERNET AND WORKING FOR THE TERRORISTS ALL ALONG!!! SHE COULD BE ANY ONE OF US!!! SHE IS A REPLICANT!!! OH GOD, AM I A FURRY OR AM I A POSTFURRY AUTOMATON WHO THINKS HE'S A FURRY???

Regardless, in all seriousness, I've come to the decision that "Who gives a shit about this anymore" is now the best response to the whole situation at this point, so I'm going to go back to drawing more clockwork bondage felinoids.

I bet you think you're a pretty smart guy, PuzzleboxFagHog. Well, YOU'RE NOT. OWNED BITCH.

So, yeah, stop using big words because you think they make you sound smarter. They don't. They make you sound like you have a thesaurus next to your computer while you sit there furiously (furryously?) looking up synonyms for the word "stupid."

Ah well, I guess every group needs some little fucker to hang around with them so they have somebody to hit and to yell at. Hey, Jerry, you're no longer the least cool member here.

PuzzleboxFagHog, something happened to me last Thursday when I was driving home. I had a couple of miles to go -- I looked up and saw a glowing orange object in the sky, to the east! It was moving very irregularly... Suddenly, there was intense light all around me and when I came to, I was home. What do you think happened to me...?

I hear it's amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm in flap-jaw space with the tuning fork does a raw blink on Hara-kiri Rock. I need scissors! 61!

@ toaded, i'm really not sure what that means. What i could gather after reading that is it apparently takes post furries about 1200 words to tell squizzle he can't have cybersex with them anymore.

It means the character was BALEETED-- to be more precise, turned into a "slimy toad" object that replaces the character-object and can no longer be logged into. And usually gets deleted immediately, although some wizards like to collect toads of their old adversaries.

Things like this are why I like the fluidity of IRC so much. You log in, and when you're logged out, you're no longer there.

IRC is both stupid and fast-paced. It's the perfect forum for both trolling, cynicism and debate, because there's no investment involved other than a moment of time to set a client up. The investment is building a reputation rather than building a character, and I find that respect is far more tangible when it's for a reputation.

Personally, I'm actually (oh god kill me now) inclined to agree with Postvixen and say that Puzzlebox is clearly "not good for you" simply based on the fact that obviously people there aren't going to change themselves to meet your expectations, so it'll just be an endless battle for you to try and find things to do there without being left behind when your postfurry compatriots decide to go off and morph into anthropomorphic rubber sex toys or whatever. While the drama was lol, it's pretty much going to have played itself out once Postvixen steps down from being a wizard there. The shock value is rapidly fading, there's far stupider, weirder, more hilarious furry fans to make fun of coming down the neverending assembly line.

And when you're an admin, usually an "I don't like you." or an "I find you're an ass." suffice. I love how Posty makes a comment about ending the drama while he's a part of it, priceless...

I would think you'd be somber, given how many hundreds of drawings of latex/rubber/leather bamboids you churned out over the years.

Some of these people are influenced by your artwork. You've helped create them. ;)
