From Anthrocon 2006 page:

We are also pleased to announce as our honored guest, artist, illustrator, and animator Scott Shaw!

From Comic Book Resources Forum:

I've had a few creepy encounters with certain sex-obsessed "furries" as well. They keep asking me to draw nekkid versions of the Zoo Crew!

And I'll never forget the clueless "furry" artist who interviewed at a studio for which I was working; he couldn't understand why his interview was suddenly cut short when the young female recruiter started flipping through his portfolio...and found nothing but XXX hardcore "furry" porn!

Wow. His resume is like a who's who of the 80s. Simpsons, Alpha Bits, Muppet Babies, Inspector Gadget, Garfield and Friends...

Although his use of Hunter S Thompson ("when the going gets weird, the weird turn pro") seems to be ill-fated.

Aha he did work for the old Sonic the hedgehog comics. That would be it, and probably one reason why the furries love him so.

I would give anything* to see him (or any other GoH) flip out and go insane at a furry convention. It would truly be a memory to be cherished.

I doubt anything will come of this. Conway is surprisingly good at holding a convention which both allows the furries to buy porn and whatnot, and to appear to not be a 'fetish con' to hotel management and GoH. It's a duality which is easy to miss, and even more easily explained away with good ol' furry tricks like "Don't like it, don't look at it" and "well, the furverts are in the minority". Most fanboys of the GoH are difficult ot tell whether they are so for sexual reasons or not, and the occassional bondage Bob can be Dorsaied away, or just ignored.

It's how the furry machine rolls on. A convention of furries, by furries and for furries with an iceing of normal anthropomorphics artists to keep up the good P.R.

Besides, the guys like Stan Sakai or elsewise are usually major con goers anyway. They see Otaku and furry retards anyway, and I'm sure they've all but drowned them out.

Going? Who says I'm going?

This even has been mentioned here before, who was this? Steve Martin?

Probably Shaw!'s (yes always with the exclamation point, that's a joke on a comic-book cliche) best-known work with animal characters is Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew, combo parody of old funny-animal comics/new superhero comics. No porn here, nothing offensive except for the terrible puns (starting with the character names).

HOLY SHIT.
THIS GUY DID CONCEPTUAL ART FOR THE DISCOVERY ZONE.
Oh man, that brings back BAD memories. I was so terrified of their mascot, that robot...thing. I wonder if this guy designed it.
But yeah, something great has to come out of this. I hope beyond hope that some furry goes up to him, again, with a big porn-folio.
That would be grade A drama.

HOLY SHIT for me as well.

This guy did FRUITY PEBBLES ADS AND BOX ART, for god's sakes.

I... I don't know why I find that amazing. Maybe because I've been staring at cereal boxes and commercials for so long and have never seen an artist signature that I find it amazing an actual human being drew them. I guess I always thought cereal related art just spawned from the depths of the marketing department.

Is it sad that I find this way more interesting then most people?

Scott Shaw! can best be described as the ultimate comic art surviver. He's done it all twice and is on his third or fourth round in some cases. I should dig up some of the more obscure shit I have of his and get him to sign it for me at AC.
