I was flipping through a few of my comic books and I thought I'd start a thread about Stan Sakais lovely work.

since the animals in the series are anthropomorphic, I assume, that must mean theres like some weird gross pr0n lying around thats connected to it...

but let's appreciate the goods as they come in the comic shop; unspoiled

That goes without saying. There's porn of EVERYTHING these days. I'm afraid of the future.

I've never seen any Usagi Yojimbo porn, and I don't want to, either. But I'm sure some furry dipshit has made some and dumped it on fchan.

Anyway, Usagi Yojimbo is a damn fine comic, one of those that demonstrate that almost all the good anthropomorphic stuff hasn't got anything to do with "furry".

Er, hate to interrupt your burnt fur moment there, but isn't Stan Sakai ex-GoH at AC and quite sociable around furries?

Being a GoH for a furry con does not a furry make. If so, that would make Peter Laird a furry too.

Maybe he's like me and actually sees some good left in the fandom, or maybe he knows that fans will shell out cash just to have his leftover yakisoba.

yeah, you gotta remember that Sakais been in the anthopomorphic animal biz since like before I was at least born (I think 1985, I cant remember exactly) so he probably has more faith than all of us in the fandom :\

Instead of "hasn't got anything to do with furry" I should have written "isn't furry". Sorry about the lack of clarity. So yeah, Stan Sakai has something to do with furry, but Usagi Yojimbo isn't furry.

Anyway... Sakai's a friendly and sociable guy, period (met him myself at a comics festival in January this year). A small part of his audience are furries, so he'd be friendly to them, too. (Michel Gagné was the other AC GoH the same year, and he sure isn't furry either. In fact, he was rather naive about the whole thing, judging from his con report. Remember that AC tries to present furry fandom as something nice and inoffensive. If you don't know better, it could actually sound convincing.)

As we all should know, furry fandom is not about simple appreciation of anthropomorphic animals - furry fandom is overwhelmingly about anthropomorphic animals as a fetish and a psychosexual/pseudospiritual hangup. Sakai and his work (like Gagné and his work) does not fit in with that at all.

There are some sane people on the outskirts of furry fandom - people who simply ignore all the lunacy and deal with the bits of positive stuff still found there. Sakai would be one of those people.

I mean, I have heard from a usually well-informed source that only half of the stuff found in a typical furry con's dealer room is fetish porn...

(edited for clarification)
