Post subject: Not all fursuits are bad! |
|
|
I have noticed there are people that absolutely hates everything that even resembles a fursuit and would never wear one. Why? Wearing a fursuit does not make you a lesser person.
I have never liked costumes but if I had to wear one it could just as well be a fursuit.
I have seen people dressed up like toon characters like Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse walking around in parks like Disneyland (controlled environments). To the best of my knowledge it was their job to make visitors happy, they were dancing around and doing funny stuff and the kids loved them. They were like normal clowns but in fursuits instead of a clown-outfit. |

We're no against fursuits, we're against morons who actually want to have sex in them constantly or who wander round in public and think it's normal :P |

...and building totally lame fursuits so that they can get into Teh Scene. (Is there anyone who started building costumes after 1994, who didn't produce an abortion of fabric? Dave Kuhn+Wife's stuff was Very Cool. Just about eveyone else had need not have bothered.) |

In fact I'll demonstrate how we aren't against fursuits but what people do with them.
I make ears and the like for cosplay, I have no problem with this but I won't make a full fursuit even though I could because of what people wish to do in a fursuit.
*goes back to making Inuyasha ears for friend* |

I make ears and the like for cosplay <...>
Gah. I can't stand cosplayers.
Every. Single. ONE. in the Australian/Sydney Anime scene are not that interested in Anime, than more interested in lowest-common-denominator socializing. 'Damaged Goods' Girls wearing cat-ears and screaming "Nyah!" at every opportunity; and the dipshit guys following them around. (If you're a lucky dipshit guy, one of the girls will ask you to be in a R.O.D group, or, shudder... Fruits Basket.) In the ~300 member UNSW Anime club, there's about ~20 annoying fuckers who just spam for attention. Unfortunately, they've wormed their way into the club's management-- and now most of the club's money is being on cosplaying/karaoke perks, rather than on the introvert anime nerds who made the club.. :-(
Fortunately, I'm not alone in being dismissive of cosplayers in the local scene.. There's a "leech" group that actually talks about the anime they've just seen!!! Fantastic-- an anime group That Can Say No... to 14yo female Yaoi fuckwits, 20yo Karaoke psychos (waddamatta? too unlikeable in RL that you become obessive over forced social gatherings?), and, oh yeah, would shoot a Furry on sight. |

Hey my groups nothing like that, we have a laugh and take the piss out of anime all the time, also we include people who have a wide range of interests not just anime.
Mostly the costumes are just for goofoffing and making silly photocomics....and acting out the silly scenes we'd like to see :P |

Anime cosplayers, at least American ones, should be shot. I remember when I picked up the first issue of Newtype USA, which had Japanese guys and girls doing cosplay and fanart, which was, in a word, fucking fantabulous. Nobody was overweight and no one had shitty fabric used. Japanese girl cosplaying Utena looked fucking awesome (and right for the part).
Now American cosplayers..they just can't do it right. Girls are either A) Good-looking but their faces just don't match the characters, or B) Overweight and don't match the character AT ALL (Like that one Nei and Alis cosplayer at the CG Archives or whatever it's called.).
The guys are just about always lost causes. Overweight white guys wearing Spike Spiegel, Shinji Ikari or Rick Hunter outfits and they just take any coolness that was in the character (Except in the case of Shinji, whom guys turn into some fucked-up black hole where even coolness cannot escape.).
Rant over. We now return to our program, currently in progress. |
