For those who may not know, Tumor.....I mean, Tamar is aka Shawntae Howard, the artist for "Extintioners", featuring "Chester the Ringtailed Poofter Furry From Hell".

And Mitch, are we really only 7 angry guys on CYD?

What a shame. We weren't needing so much publicity.

The good thing about this forum is that it's small and cozy, so most of the discussions are civil.

Looks like we're gonna get some more users in the future, either for good or for bad. Anyway, since this is a moderated forum, there are little chances to see things get as bad as they are on AFF.

*L* Not an ounce of talent? Hmmm...methinks someone should check before he opens his mouth, most of the people here are at least talented in wit unlike him :P

And I would say half the things to people in real life that I say on here :P after all it's a public forum isn't it?

Jeez Tamar, isn't it nice that you use A.F.F. to do exactly what you excoriate CYD for? I'd call him a crybaby except that he is, in fact, a hypocrite.

And Mitch, are we really only 7 angry guys on CYD?
I'd rather be among the seven than the thousands of losers on A.F.F.

First, "The Ribald Ringtail". Please tell me Mike is jesting. Please tell me
he has not surfaced in "Yet another Furry Story Line"
And, his post illustrates once again Furry at its worst.
One of the "many" reasons I no longer buy "Furry" stuff.
I won't say he is one of the ones doing it, but I finally got dissed enough
at Furry's puffing up the "greatness" of their commerical work and
tearing down everything non-furry. Particularly when I am comparing
the product quality and service furry and non.
Add some of the public attitudes on business customer relations and I
decided my cash could be better spent outside the fandom.

Chester has to be one of most fruitest characters I've ever come across. Which makes him so popular?
So popular, in fact, that every furry who draws a ringtail character, by proxy, are drawing a Chester clone.

But as far as Havoc Inc. is concerned, nice comic art for it being Terrie Smith, who's art seems to be the same thing over and over again.
I own a few issues, seeing how it's one of the better comics (with the exception of Blacksad and anything that Scott Shaw! has produced) to feature anthropomorphic characters.

I've got the first collection issue laying around somewhere. Nothing really worth writing home about, aside from Terrie Smith's nice character style (which is all that matters when you're marketing towards furries). But for the love of god, what will it take to get her to do a real background just once in the whole fucking series?

And yeah, Chester is quite possibly the gayest thing that ever gayed before.

Hmm, I might pick some of them up if I see them go cheap sometime

Ive been meaning to get Blacksad , so ill ask you where did you get it ? I was gonna order it internationally off Amazon.fr for like 12 Euros, but i dont know how much shipping will be etc, and since I dont speak/read french - navigating the site to place an order / start an account is sort of problematic

I noticed 2rpg is selling it but they want $25 each issue + shipping ...im almost about to pay that much , but i want to save cash if possible.

also: I know Scott Shaw! did some stuff in Critters and he did Captain Carrot, he also worked with Kazaleh on Camp Candy didnt he? or was that someone else? He was the one who wrote the Foreword for the Collected Adventures of Captain Jack

What else has Shaw! done? Im not that familiar with his work

Yeah, like that matters somehow you dolt.
If I met any of those people CYD is flaming in person I would feel very sorry for them and try to help, not flame them. But its okay to flame them over the internet as its not personal.

Havoc INC is pretty decent, I try to get the issues when I can. But by no means is it a Sin City by Miller or Hellboy, but as a gay comic is decent in its own right. The art is good, the writing has its moments. Yes, Chester is quite gay. Very gay. In fact, He is probably one of those queers that if I say walking down the street, I would probably be droppedjaw and thinking "Fagggggg." What makes him so popular? He is outright adorable, at least to me. He has that kinda "floating on clouds" thing going for him. Just another very feminine, very cutely drawn character. Sadly enough, he is a realistic characticture. I know plenty of gay guys who have the same qualities as him, spending thier own precious little college money on clothes, jewelry and shinythings. Which is probably why he IS so popular. These guys I know are the top dogs in the gay heirachy of sorts at my dorm and are generally wanted by all. So Chester is just a furry version of that with lots of little furry queers questing after him because He is a fantasy and not harsh reality. Thats my opinion =P

Hell its basically Chester and J.Willard's Falstaff duking it out for gay furry pinup icon of all time.

Most of furry that's not gay is made up of yaoi raver girls, so Chester's got that market covered too. I probably shouldn't open my mouth since I'm the guy who thought Katellis and Temple were the same guy, but are Terrie Smith and Michelle Light the same person? I can't tell them apart.

And who's Falstaff?

You've got that right. A couple of years ago I made the mistake of setting up an Oekaki - mostly so I could learn how to deal with multibyte words in Perl. Lately, every since one of them has been overwrought with the 14-year-old PLURheads.

Hah! The lines between Light/Smith realyl tend to dwindle since they create so many collaborative efforts. The easy way to tell them apart is 'Michelle's stuff is the less-lines and broken curves', and Smith, well, is the one that's usually shaded or colored with a hint less minimalism to detail.

Falstaff is "SoapPuppy". Why there's such a request for a femme who draws a gay dog... with roughly the same artistic ability as myself, is confusing. Very confusing.

Terrie Smith, who begat Tygger, who begat Michelle Light, who begat Tamar.....and so on. It's like a furry version of Skynet.

Of course, if you REALLY wanna get to the bottom of things, you can just call Terrie a "Wendy Pini wannabe" and settle the issue.

He appears in “the merry wives of Windsor” and “Henry IV” IIRC.
I think also in several operas too.

First, side note, hey yall, I am a computer tech in my working life, but I don't spend much time on line. If it ain't electrons, fiber, and copper, I ain't real great at it.
I make mistakes in ignorance.
I just, for some insane reason, poked my head into A.F.F. Dear God in Heaven, it is True! The Polysexual, Kleptomaniac Rake of a Ringtail apparently DID appear in Extinctioners. Furry Fandom's very own "Poster Boy". I had hoped of better from Mr. Howard, both with that, and his post, but why should I be surprised when I ponder back on some posts of his to Yerf Yap when the late Mailbox Books was facing legal action.
Mr. Howard's post. Well, there goes my last hopes, dirtied as they were with Furry MBFA's of something better from the fandom.
I think, at this point, I am going to go sulk, play with my radios, trains, and plastic model planes, and deal with decent, honest folk. Why, why does Furry always have to live down to my expectation?

Mouse
Up front and honest, don't waste your money. As both an avid reader, and struggling writer, Havoc, Inc. is an embarrassement. As a writer, unpublished, I am almost ashamed of anthropomorphic fiction, I am almost ashamed to acknowledge Havoc Inc, and it's clone "Lark and Key" Don't get me started. Years ago, in the long past burned fur web page I had some shocking words to say.
Don't ask, just don't ask.
I actually stunned some folks not pleased with Furry with my comments, and they were clean and not rude.
Lets put it this way... Furry yowls loudly about folks visiting web pages and, if you don't want to see it, don't look!"
Well, shudder, as a confirmed afficando of the written word of Sci Fi, and Fantasy, as it comes to Havoc...
Mouse, Spare your soul! Don't look!
Ole Sparky

Fact is, most Furs are HOMOS. hence why this gay "Chester" is so popular! Why else is anybody going to love something as fruity as chester? Also, most artists kiss each otheres asses based on there "populatiry" ratings, hence why this fruitcake pops up everywhere. So next time u see this anal-crazed ringtail, you'll know why: ARTISTIC ASS KISSING!!
But theres something WORSE than chester... the ridiculous amount of HERMS out there! I mean, really, whats up with that? Cocks belong IN women, not attached to them like some earing! whats next? guys with pussies? No monder MTV though furries were guys who dressed up in fursuits & fucked each other up the ass. If chester is what they saw (since his gayness is everywhere). Now, join my "KILL CHESTER" fangroup! Join Now!

Yeah, as far as "looks" go and whatever you could do plenty worse than Chester's design, it's more about the way he carries himself or whatever. It's not the drawing design so much as the personality design.

Hell its basically Chester and J.Willard's Falstaff duking it out for gay furry pinup icon of all time.

Hey Willard and Smith get together and do a comic like that.. I'd probably buy it. The idea is very good, but like all "good ideas" it's a matter of it could be executed right or not.. I think if done right that could be one fucking hilarious comic. Something that haters, lovers, and inbetweeners of those characters might all enjoy. Hell, to add another another layer of "Furry celebrity factor" the plot twist could be Jack Salem slaying both Chester and Falstaff.

And if you want completely insanity maybe after Jack Salem "slays" them, Chester and Falstaff would recover quickly because they are.. CYBORGS. :o

Most of furry that's not gay is made up of yaoi raver girls, so Chester's got that market covered too.

Well in that department/market, Aura Moser's "pretty furry boys" totally kick the ass of characters like Chester, but unfortunately one thing that's important in a "market" is recognition.. Aura Moser diffiently has the talent, but Terrie Smith has the recognition or rather is more known like Aura.

Getting off topic here sort of, but if I ever get the money saved up and well enough story written out Aura Moser would diffiently be one of the folks at the top of my list to hire to do the art and collobrate with on an anthropomorphic animal/furry comic.

"KILL CHESTER"

Quentin Tarantino's, I persume? I wonder what female would do the "best" job of killing Chester..

Sorry but I wont join that fangroup. Furry will be better of with Chester then with some "fangroup" trying do destroy Chester. Also I dont give a damn about what MTV thinks.
Why do you want to destroy Chester? I will not beliave you if you say its because he is a fag or something like that.

I've actually seen an issue of that comic in a local used bookstore. It's been languishing there for the past six months, and I will often point it out to friends and make immature jokes and the like.

So, how badly does it suck? From the looks of things it seems rife with standard furry cliches and behind-the-scenes artist backscratching. I've been toying with the idea of buying it so it can go on the shelf next to my tiny collection of Chick tracts, potential future copy of Dianetics and any of those books written by Sarah Wheeler's mom(should I find one).

It's not good, but it's not awful. The character design (visually speaking) is probably the only good thing I have to say about it, but that's all I've ever seen Terrie Smith do. The story is a real yawner, and a few of the backgrounds in some of the pages are almost nightmarishly reminiscent of Dave Gonterman, unless my memory is somehow tainted since the last time I read it.

Sadly, the few times i met shawnte, he seemed like a nice guy, good attitude, not really all that damn serious about the anthro game, and was drawing katmandu for a time after terrie smith left.

Then again, i stopped caring about this the moment i realized i couldn't make a living selling anthro art unless i was a name in the first place, no matter how good my art is.

I'll second that. Dare to critique EITHER ONE with anything less than religious fervor among their respective groups and you get a nuclear holocaust of flamage. I've met some Elfquest fanatics that damn near live with pointy plastic ears stapled to their heads and think Wendy and Richard Pini are gods.

You can throw Associated Student Bodies on the same pile as Havoc for comics I'd rather shave my face with belt sander than buy. For crying out loud, they've sold boxer shorts at Anthrocon with that damn mag's logo on them.

Maybe for some but not most as far as I can tell.

Also, most artists kiss each otheres asses based on there "populatiry" ratings, hence why this fruitcake pops up everywhere. So next time u see this anal-crazed ringtail, you'll know why: ARTISTIC ASS KISSING!!

That's also true to a small degree, maybe...

I have one name, three words for you, on a human character that pops up every time I see Chester: Wilberforce Clayborne Humphries. Now if only the freaks who worship Chester would learn to be as dapper in appearance as WCH. But it would be more like Queer Eye for the Queer/Bi/Transgendered Furry... *sigh*

Cool Wayd. I always thought Mr. Humphries was the best part of Are You Being Served :-) Even in the silly sequel series, where the farmer's daughter tried to seduce him.

He's practically drawing his second persona cuddling with a fictional character.

I don't give points for that. Nope.

And about the talent thing, well, I have to admit Shawn-boy is good, in fact very good but, in style, compared to the people in CYD, my admiration goes to Sulaco.

He only has one personaand that's that panther he draws and Sheve is a real person. She usually works con staff at Anthrocon or Midwest Furfest. They were going out for awhile.

“Good” artists are ten a penny nowadays thanks to the division of labour.
I’m still waiting for the space artists who will make Mona lisas from nebulas and reform black holes into profound statements about life, the universe and everything.

Havoc Inc, and its feeble Clone "Lark and Key", don't, please don't get me started. PLEASE!
Too much poor writing and, worse, crappy science. Those two titles brought the absolute worst of TV writing to comic books.
Fact is, most Furs are HOMOS. hence why this gay "Chester" is so popular! Why else is anybody going to love something as fruity as chester?

Maybe for some but not most as far as I can tell.
Then, Wayd, please, why does Chester pop up everywhere? On the other hand, maybe we can always hope the Eternal Chester shall meet the Eternal Jack Sable.

Also, most artists kiss each otheres asses based on there "populatiry" ratings, hence why this fruitcake pops up everywhere. So next time u see this anal-crazed ringtail, you'll know why: ARTISTIC ASS KISSING!!

Not a small degree, unfortunately.

Wayd, for the sake of mercy and justice, DO NOT COMPARE Mr. Humphries with Chester!
All those years of laughing my way hysterically through "Are You Being Served" made it plain to me that Mr. Humphries was basically a decent, honest, ethical gent, who had earned the friendship and trust of his co-workers.
How does this compare with Chester, from Tai-Pan and Havoc Inc?

Flouncing and effeminate both. He comes to mind every time. Didn't say I hated Humphries. I dislike Chester. I know a couple furries who flounce around cons that I'd like to smack with a trout. But Humphries is cool enough. Espcially given that he's A) fictional, B) not an icon of total obsession, C)decently written. Chester is A, but not B or C. The aforementioned furs aren't A, are not B in some quarters, and need to be C.

(Meaning they are icons among some and need their lives to be scripted as opposed to the visual messes they present running around unleashed.)

Supposing that someone collected the series on a whim a few years ago at the insistance of a friend woh DIDN'T say what the subject matter was - and boxed them up out of disgust - and would be more than happy to part with them for cash..

With a horribly shitty storyline.

As I recall, the Lion King ripoff, in glasses, isn't getting any action - and all of his roomamtes are gay. By the 5th panel, or whatever it is, he isn't getting any, but his roommate puts the moves on him, so he decides "Oh, maybe I'm a fag".

From there I think there are at least two more panels devoted to non-gay social pulp by the end of the series. At least one of them being a setup for yet another orgy.

oh wow a gay furry comic about an all gay dorm populated with supposed to be sexy gay furries which ends up being entirely driven by lame and gay filler to get to the gay sex?

i would have never thought of that

wasnt there some sort of internet rule about saying gay too many times in the same line?

Only if it involves Hitler... and even then, it's most likely furry biased, if not indeed, based.

My bad, although there was one very similar with schwartz's darke katt. Which is not a real person as far as I know.

I bought the comic back because i just like comics in general, and while i liked the artwork, the stories were not really all that great, id had seen better gay fiction in stuff like xxxenophile and mebbe love and rockets and the like. But since im straight, i looked beyond the sex for things i suppose i could relate to in a comic, and found slim-to-none.

I saw how well it sold at one or two cons, so i bought up a few and sold them at my table, kept one copy of each issue for myself just to add to the evil anthro box-o-comics. Then, a while later, i saw how the books were selling.

Christ in a taco, a furry comic worth something more than $15 bucks.

Selling the books payed for a new laptop. Booyah.

Which is the fantasy of so many bi and gay furs: endless sex with lots of willing people. Fantasy only, ironically, as if you get most of these people together, they can't bring themselves to actually do it despite them all desperately wanting to. They can cyberyiff, but good old fashioned fun is beyond them, sitting on the far side of their fears and inabilities.

For contrast, how many human porn fans wouldn't do it with their favorite starlets gladly no matter how bad they performed? Furry is one of the few areas I know where all-out orgies would be a dramatic improvement over their current existance.

Ever noticed how the furries have NEVER held a con in Las Vegas? I mean, the place is MADE for conventions, loaded with all sorts of attractions, and the place is SURROUNDED by LEGAL brothels just outside the city limits? Why the Hell do you think COMDEX has been so popular? To hear Bill Gates speak? Riiiiiiiight.

Furry fans truly are clueless!

Worse yet there's a good number of furs who actually live in LV. But I guess fursuits are probably extra over at the brothel.

There's a difference between tacky and unsightly. Fursuit fucking is unsightly. Paying a prostitute is tacky. The latter is an improvement over the former.

I wouldn't say so, personally. I lived there. Sure, hookers 20 miles out of town is legal, but they're the same retarded white trash. Believe me, if you've been there more than a week, you'd know what I was speaking of.

I dunno.. Fursuiting is unsightly and tacky, unless it's done with a bit opf professionalism, and isn't just an excuse to wear your fetish out in public. That precludes most of furry, though.

Hate to break it for you, but Greg Kihn is now a radio DeeJay in the bay area. He should have just died on coke. He'd at least be reviered.

I dunno. I know that on some occasions, porn starlets "moonlight" at places like these. Expensive as Hell I'm sure (and BTW, Nevada brothels have a ZERO TOLERENCE policy about STDs or drug use in their "workers", so the skank factor is very, very low), but compared to most gals in furry fandom, the choice is obvious.

Those places are horribly expensive, and beyond the capability of most of the people who live there. You don't live in poverty because you want to - at least, in my experience. The brothels WERE regulated to hell, especalyl Mustang after the IRS took it from Conforte. It's gone now, being shut down.

Still, the amount of 'skank' inherent within Nevada STARTS at about 4.5. "Reno 911", if you've ever seen it, is not that far off. :?

If we're comparing the whores to furry chicks, well, no shit. ;)
