...as their own, and doing a half-assed attempt at it?

I mean, come on. Maxine is more paper thin than Scarlet. At least Gonterman's isn't an exact cookie-cutter ripoff, even if it's meant to mean the same..

What the fuck? These artists are so lonely and self-conscious that they'll recreate themselves in the same light and image, draw a couple of tits, hastily erase a cock - for a few extra disgusting fans?

I guess we all know the answer to this. Sigh.

Of course. The whole furry heirarchy is based off of HOT HOT FOXGIRLS ^_^ and hugglepouncesnugglegrins. I haven't really noticed it (taking female personas) that much, although I've seen a couple of people doing it.

One question, though: Have there ever been any girls that have taken up male personas?

I can only think of girls that use a male as their main character, but i guess its less obvious if a girl is acting like a guy when they talk in msn etc

Maybe guys do it because being a girl is just BETTER? ha! and if its online, you dont have to go through the reality of period pains, PMT, giving birth and lower wages

Charisma, a RPGer I know only plays female chars. He was quite excited about Baldur's Gate 2 because there was a male romance in it (and a few male romance mods). I asked him why he always plays women, and he said it was just "cooler" and "hotter" in his head. I dunno! I tried playing male chars but couldn't get into it.

OTOH, I know a few furs who are undergoing a gender change right now...I hope they are happy with their choices, they seem to be really looking forward to the end result. As you said, to be a man as woman is very convienent for the men :-)

In the case of the Maxine character, Max Black Rabbit (Malcolm Earle) didn't create her. Wolf Kidd did that. Other artists thought Maxine was a fun way to take their own figurative pokes at Max and the artwork started. Max seems to consider it a bit of harmless goofiness, nothing more.

Ah. My bad. This is merely another in the long run of which I've seen males create females in their own likeness and image. As it is quite obviously Max, only different, it not horribly opaque.

I've inadvertantly met many females, wether they be buttertrolls, ignorant teenyboppers, or otherwise, who choose to play male counterparts since they can be "cool" and "edgy", whereas the guys I've met who play femmes do ot "so they get attention". Honestly, most of them will be that open and honest - when you get to know them. Can't get laid? Turn femme! Can't even get someone to talk to you because you're about as mentally stimulation as a carpet tack? Throw on some hooters. Someone's bound to be sad enough o hit it!

I really don't understand it at all. But, meh, that's just me.

i alsways RP or prefer to play video games as my own gender. but thats because I'm happy with my gender I guess. If I was a guy though, I'd probably see it as wrong, personally, to want to RP as a girl.
I like to stick at what I'm best at.

most of the people I RP with play as both sexes though.
no, not a herm! a girl or a guy! sheesh

I'm having a problem following this - so, the people you know who RP, do so as either sex? That's a bit different than a fat, lethargic, smelly male pretending to be a 48-12-34* femme, is it not?

* Imperial measurements, in inches, breast, waist, butt. Do the math.
