yeah well thats what i thought. Guess they want to be a little more like Yerf. I havent been there much, but what I have seen looks very proffessional.
Can you imagine if VCL threw out all their artists that they believed to be of a 'low skill level'? Thats definately not even comprehendable.

Well, if they throw out all the crap, it will definately lighten thier load on the servers, both capacity and bandwidth wise.

I just wish fanfiction.net didn't "clean house". Nine times out of ten, the smut was better written than the regualr fanfics.

You can't polish a turd and expect someone to purchase it on the assumption that it's got a gold center.

I can imagine it; and the sad thing is, some people start off quite shitty, then become rather good. On the other hand, many are just Gonterman; and crap out the same thing, just as bad as the first.

I think I'm gonna pay closer attention to AFF. Hearing all those hacks who think their "crayon in fist" masterpieces (they're pieces of something, all right) bawling their heads off and screaming about how the VCL mods are censoring them will be a treat to behold.

actually, Charisma, are you sure this is new? I thought I remembered reading this a while ago ...I think its something they put up there and just never really acted on it. Im sure just with the amount of artists on the VCL, its hard for them to go thru and just starting booting people. If they are actively doing something about it. Its going to take a VERY long time before there is any visible change in VCL content overall.

IOW they might be rejecting new people onthat basis that they suck, but they havent done anything about the hundreds that are already there and are still uploading. They are probably at least a little hesitant to just kick people off.

Waaaaay back when I was putting crappy VCL images up so I could link to them when I was selling the pictures for gross auctions I usually put captions on them that said "THIS SUCKS" and "AAAAAAAUUUGHLAAGUGLAUGHALA!" and even "NO." Of course those captions were rejected.

not to mention the fact that it says humans are like viruses which is DEEP and EDGY even though the virus chosen to represent this (obviously picked because it looks cool and scary) is actually a bacteriophage, the kind used in eastern european hospitals as a form of treatment for 30 years, and may soon be brought into play over here as a substitute for antibiotics - essentially, they are tailored to destroy bacteriological infections (which requires the exact strain of bacteria to be identified before treatment can commence, hence why chemical antibiotics are more popular here) and have demonstrated themselved to be highly effective when it comes to those bugs which have evolved resistance to traditional antibiotics. And the bacteria won't be able to develop resistance, since the virus evolves faster.

I generally try to get to know people; so I have a reasoning beyond a blanket statement when it comes to why I dislike them. ;)

If VCL is going to down some much needed exlax and dump the crap, they should send a mass email to all their members 2 weeks in advance and completely wipe thier database clean.

Yes, you do need talent to join VCL. However, notice there are no minimum requirements to define "talent". So you can take a crayola crayon, crush it in your fist, and scrape it accross a sheet of paper and be considered "talented".

Well, it's hard to tell anyone that they DON'T have telent and hurt their feellings. But the fact is that the same people keep outputing the same crap without trying to improve is what's wrong.

Of couse it's hard to tell someone they don't have talent and not hurt their feeling. The reason why it is so hard is the fact you are making things needlessly complicated. Simply tell them they suck and be done with it. Much easier.

Look at yerf as an example, true they may border on nazism when it comes to censorship, but look at the results, clean, talented (For the most part) artwork.

As for VCL lowering the boom on people who can't prove a reasonable skill level, well, they mainly just need to lighten the load.

Oh, btw: that little bit abou no crap has been there as long as I can remember, including back when I joined VCL in 2001. The page just didn't look as pretty the as it does now.
