I have been a fur for many years, and I am a very tolerent fur, not caring for what others enjoy. But now I find that I am getting tired of this same obsession in furry, I am getting burnt out by the constant Lack of interest in the tame aspects.... I am tired of all the sex and violence and crap in modern furry. @#$%en herms, gangbangs and senseless sex.
I miss the old days where it was okay to draw stuff in front of my parents, where I didn't have to hide the fact I am a furry. My family know I'm one and now I can't convince them that I am not gay, or a into most aspects of furry. they think of me as a perv like the rest. So tired of it.... I think the noobs as in teenagers 16 and younger thoughout the past 5 yrs ruined it for all of us..... turning this once great fandom into one big @#$%en whore house.

I will try to remain annomous here cause I still have friends in furry which don't yet see my POV and I don't want to strain my relationship with, also I am quite a active fur, have a fursona and all that jazz and I don't want to be seen as a hypocrite if I participate in something small. The whole centering out sections of furry is new to me so I need time.

Well, I'm still only a fur and will probably always be. I let my friends that are furs know that I am on CYD and do support it. The reason I support CYD is because unlike SomethingAwful or even PoE, CYD at least has a real focus. CYD isn't about just attacking furry in general, since a lot of us are/were furs, we attack what we dislike about the furry fandom.

By that I mean only attacking pedophiles. People from CubCentral or even to an extent Babyfurs. Babyfurs I could tolerate if they'd at least act like adults when outside of their rooms at conventions. I don't like the smell of baby powder from a baby, a fully grown adult makes it even worse.

I also rebel against anyone who is openly stupid. I have no problem with the violence, shit I am violent. I have no problem with 98% of the sexual fetishes out there, as long as I don't have to smell it or be told about it it's all good. What I have a problem with are the stupid people. And this goes both ways. In the furry fandom you get a lot of book smart people but not a lot of common sense smart people. But, of course you get the other side, people that are just stupid.

But, that's my thoughts. What do you think America?

I wish you luck and hope you gain further nerve down the road to defect from the People's Republik of Furrvania. Personally, I think the best thing for you to do is just come out with it and say who you are. That way, you won't have to worry about backsliding into a lifestyle you know you don't want to be a part of.

And as far as your friends still in furry, I think if they're going to be intolerant of you should "your secret" leak out, then they sound like a pretty shitty group of people to be around with in the first place.

There are some militant assholes who DEMAND that you MUST be 100% furry or you are 100% against furry. That sort of black & white bullshit is assinine as well as oppressive. Furries may THINK that they get to determine whether you can enjoy anything anthropomorphic, but that's just another example of their mindfuckery in order to keep people trapped within their sick sad world.

Recently, I had been considerring getting into Final Fantasy XI and was trying to decide what character to play. For the type of "job" I wanted to do (start out as a monk and then work up to ninja), the Mithra (the anime foxgirl race) seemed the best because of their naturally high dexterity, but I didn't want to be seen as "one of those god damn furries" by my friends. After thinking about it for a weekend, I decided that I wasn't going to allow furrydumb to decide what I can (or can't) do. I mean, just because I watched Sonic X doesn't mean I wanna buy a modified a Rougue plushie on Furbid. One of these days the thickheads will understand that one can still enjoy the art form but still despise the Xydexx "Once a Furry, Always A Furry" Squeakponys and Kevin Duanes who have caused all this misery.

Thanks god there are people like Stan Sakai or Tavisha who go out of their way to emphasise that their comics are NOT "furry". The furries may not like that, but they're the ones responsible for creating the atmosphere out there where artists needs to make that distinction lest they get sucked into the sickness.

I'm weaning myself away from, but I'm not entirely annexing myself from 'furrydumb'; I've met many wonderful people there (YES, PEOPLE) of whom I wish to keep in contact with; and any issues that have arisen from the fandom are mine, and mine alone to contend with.

I think the biggest issues of furry are simple, and trivial:

It's turned from a semi-sane pleasure derived of funny cartoons to a "sex-u-fetish-athon" where anything goes.
The old crew is getting older, and the influx of the younger crowd doesn't scare us as much as bothers us. I mean, please, a 14 year old girl who's going online to draw her 'fursona' being ripped to shreds and smiling happily because she didn't ace her driver's test is not what most of us are looking for.
There's no bouncer. See the prior two notes.

I'm not sure I like it here all that much anymore myself. You all say what you think, sure, but most of the time it comes across as spiteful, even if its not directed at me.

On a side note: I'm a fur all the way in terms of teh content I draw in my spare time. I actually quite like the label and I'm not giving it up because of what a few people think it means.

If these furs were to bring light to the fact I am a fur, though not of the stereotypical type out of spite for having different views, it wouldn't matter to my employers, I'd never be hired again. I'd be jobless and unable to make a living. I know it sounds like I am the one being paranoid, but would you take that risk, really. So you see why I'd like my name to remain private.

I don't think WKF is faking it. I've run across some of the furs from Europe, heck I hosted the single most infamous, and he strikes me as genuine.

As to banners, some people like them. I was looking to do something creative and dress it up.

We aren't going to turn on each other and bitch about graphics and dial-up download speeds and preach about the wonders of straight text Linux and Lynx are we? That would be to act like furries.

Sorry, but if you stopped playing that "Mystery Man" bullshit, then maybe you might have been given some slack. For all we know, you could have been yet another militant furry dingbat staggering in and trying to make himself look cool to his AFF assmates by fucking with the CYD-ers.

The first trouble sign was that you refused to say who you really are. In fact, you went out of your way to emphasise that you wanted to keep your name hidden. This to me is the biggest sign that you really aren't serious about defecting. Sounded to me like you wanted to play in BOTH the worlds of AFF and CYD, but don't have the balls it would take to cross over. Such a selfish "I want it BOTH ways" attitude is a very telltale sign of still being a furry.

Next time you wanna convince anyone that you want to leave furry, then just say who the fuck you are. Maybe that way we would know who this "well known furry" really is and be able to know how to help you get out of it. One of the first things a new AA member would say is "Hi. I'm , and I'm an alchoholic.". Don't give me that shit about losing your job or crap like that, because I'm not falling for it.
