So, what makes someone reach the point when they literally cannot shift back into reality? None can say, but one thing's for sure - no matter what causes it, it's always funny to watch.


I know exactly what you mean with that statement as I have seen it happen. Without naming names, I know an individual who has this exact problem. Unfortunatly, it is a lot of distrubing then it is funny.

When this person does RP's, they will always inevitably 'godmod' and refuse to co-operate. They will nullify anything anyone does to them and then go and do the same exact thing to them and say that it cannot be reversed!

What's scary is that, I think this person honestly thinks that they are the character they play in RP in real life . I do wonder what makes people lose this connection with reality and what makes the barriors between reality and fantasy fade.

Is it that their lives are so unfullfilling that they need these fantasies in order to make up for it? Is it that they simply engage in the fantasies so much that they end up spending far more time in a fantasy then in reality and lose themsevles in it? Or is it a case of an undiagnoses phycological problem that with proper diagnoses and treament could be brought under control completly? Maybe it's all of the above.

I cant speak for others, but why do i spend hours in RP on line? Because, untill i get out of debt, I cant' afford to do the stuff i want to do, find me an old Dodge and drop a 440 in there, get back in the CAF, stuff like that. Mucking around online is cheap compared to my other hobbies :D

Hey, I used to do that as a kid. The old "I-shot-you-no-you-missed" routine. That's why every game ended with me getting the snot pounded out of me.

I'm curious, what is it about the way this person acts in day-to-day life that makes you think he still believes his a RPG god?
