I've found this interesting message on AFF. In a few words, it's the complaint of the actual responsible for the "Ursa Major" awards about the lack of interest of people about this event.

Some things I read here made me think, so I thought bringing and discussing this message here was a good idea.

I'm wondering whether it's apathy, disinterest or procrastination that
has resulted in the lack of response for my call for nominations for the
Ursa Major Awards. There are thousands of furry fans, and yet the
nominations have been woefully neglected. Are people only interested in
furry fandom as an excuse for getting together with other people with
the same "weird" tendencies, or is there a genuine interest in where the
genre is going? The Ursa Major Awards is driven purely by popular
response in both the nomination and voting processes. I've been more
heavily involved and put a lot of time and effort into making things
easy for anyone to do this, yet even this seems too hard for some
people. You can guess that I'm a little miffed.

If you're amongst the apathetic, shake yourself and ask what you expect
to get out of the fandom if you aren't willing to put anything into it?

If you're amongst the disinterested, why are you in the fandom at all?
It's not as if we're asking so much of you.

And if you're amongst the procrastinators, get the heck over to

nominations in. You've only got until March 15 to do so!

To those wonderful people who have made nominations, if you want to
update or add to your nominations, this can be done also. Your details
have been saved and can be changed up until the deadline.

Heh… Everyone is always getting back to that art aspect…

I don’t think furydumb is about art at all... If I want art I’ll go to a museum or buy an art book or watch a documentary.
I’m here just for the quick smut fix! =)

Why do I draw furry then and why do I share it for free and not accept comissions... I dunno… I like toony stuff and I draw lotsa different things nowdays.
I may put up the print shop on my homepage again when I get enuff time off work, boozing and KITT!
But peddling prints or drawing someone’s * tweeested* ideas is too much much like work… this is supposed to be a relaxing hobby!

Sometimes I even have drawn a pic for someone for free, when their idea has inspired me enough.

Usually I just like to draw what inspires me… And if someone happens to like it when I post it… -Swell!
Those who’ve seen my art and dirt know it’s very tame, sorta normal, non violent nor gory…
Furry tastes have changed in 10 years tho.. and I don’t know if anyone wants to buy art that doesn’t depict gory macro herm assraped tentacly Zigzags.

As long as one can keep it real and function in real world all should be well. People and furs especially take themselves too seriously nowdays. Nothing’s sacred… everything must be questioned and then ridiculed. Being non PC Rrrules! =)

Maybe even the furries have to much dignity to participate in a contest run by Chakat Goldfur. But that's probably hoping for too much.

Isn't "Chakat Goldfur" the one responsible for the creation of “Chakats” or “Cum Spurting Herm-Taurs” as those in the know call them?

I thought the fandumb was all about sexual hybrid intercourse by people who otherwise couldn't have intercourse (Or the social skills required to reach intercourse with even the cheapest hooker) with anything except their own hands?
