Been wanting to for a long time, now. Finally getting my chance.

Now, some people may be wondering in what passes for their minds "How can a guy who calls Furry Fandom disgusting and sick be so eager to see a GWAR concert? Their songs and stage-act is all about sex, perversion and mindless mayhem! He's a hypocritical Nazi! WAAAAAUGH!!!"

For those individuals, I shall point out the following three MAJOR differentiating factors between GWAR and the Furry Fandom;

1. GWAR isn't serious

2. GWAR doesn't take themselves seriously

3. GWAR doesn't intend anyone ELSE to take them seriously

Yes, their image/show/message is all about perversion and destruction, but it's so OVER-THE-F***IN'-TOP that only the most brain-dead specimens of genetic throwbacks (aka: "Lifestylers") would ever consider, for even a moment, that it was ever meant to be sincere.

Hope this clears a few things up.

I just checked thier tour dates page

I was never into them, but i remember in high school everyone who would go to the show would come into school the next day all covered in whatever the shit they throw all over everyone.

Are they supposed to be playing with Green Jelly? They had supposedly teamed up at some point, and last I heard they were going to be going on tour together

I’ve seen their CD’s in the “Metal section” in record shops, So A priori, We have that they are a Metal band.

Secondly the songs on their records had silly names Like "my knife" or something like that.

And thirdly I remember that they once got a lot of media attention by making some comment along the lines of “Rape is good”.

Generally, Throwing things at the audience seems to be De Rigour amongst certain bands. Particularly ones fitting under the umbrella of metal.

Slough Feg threw meat at their audience IIRC and I’m sure there are many Nordic bands that also do the same to prove how EXTREME AND BADASS THEY ARE.

No need to make excuses, GoManVanGogh. GWAR are fantastic. Saw them thrice. Got splattered with blood every time - always wear white clothes at GWAR concerts!

A death metal band whose music is IMHO largely irrelevant, it's all about the stage show. Here's GWAR's official site, though that only manages to give a hint of the hilarious mayhem that is a GWAR concert. It's gotta be experienced.

Slough Feg threw meat at their audience IIRC and I’m sure there are many Nordic bands that also do the same to prove how EXTREME AND BADASS THEY ARE.

Uh, actually I though a lot of norwegian death metal groups were currently in jail, mostly for actually burning churches, and murder.

I think Euronymous of..whatever group.. was murdered by thier nazi guitarist after they threw him out or some shit

AC broke up a few years ago, although they did a couple 15th anniversary shows last year. The singer and guitarist, Seth Putnam has been in quite a few other bands, though, all of which sound exactly the same.

If you look at how many death/black/whatever metal bands that come out of Nordic areas and Finland and compare it with the number of ones who have members who burn churches and kill people, the number of the ones with members who kill people and stuff is a tiny minority.

I think generally, the biggest problem is raging egos that dwarf the pyramids in size and the clash thereof in teh bands in question.

IMO a lot of it is all so much smoke and mirrors to prove how badass you are.

Wouldn't furrydom be so much nicer if A)they had the musical talent to play music worth listening to and B)had a sense of humor and named a band something like "The Spooge Bunnies", or "Erma Felna's Corpse" or something like that. Instead we get techno for all eternity while no one out in the real world is listening to it any more.

Come to think of it, Moby would probably fit right in with furries. Of course, that brings to mind that line, "...that's when I reach for my revolver."

Well, Im not into that type of music so much. I really dont follow it, a friend of mine listens to nothing but all that shit and thats just what I picked up from him. I think the band I was refering to may have been Mayhem, but I really have no idea.

I just always got the impression the whole Norway death metal scene was just totally fucked up like that.

Also there is a hardcore band - ShaiHalud, and I guess they are big SF geeks (Shaihalud is from Dune)

There is also some weird band that has based thier music around H.P. Lovecraft...I forget their name now..but the name of thier group is the a sentence that appears in the "The Tomb"...

Its like "Darkest of Hillside Thickets" or something like that, but I remeber they have humorous songs like "one gilled girl". I have to actually listen to them one of these days

gwar is definitely on the strange side.

there was a local latenight t.v. talk show hosted by wally george in the socal region and he had gwar on a couple of times. wally was a conservitive and would bring them on to yell at them and call them freaks and they would yell back and so on, anyways a fight would eventually brake out everytime and it was a hoot to watch :D .

anyone from the L.A. area would probably know what i'm talking about.

I think Lowtax once had a big update or series of updates dedicated to Wally George. I wish I could see that show someday; by all accounts it seems to be quite a unique experience.

wally had a great show, he was kinda like a conservitive jerry springer. he was alway getting guests on of the odd sort (prostitutes,porn stars, devil worshippers and the sort) and would verbaly bash them and most times there was a fist fight. i really miss the show it never let me down.

Hahaha I was going to bring up Wally, I'm honestly suprised to hear somebody talking about 'im. I thought it was funny as hell, when that one dude in GWAR tells wally "I've got just one thing to say..... I want to see you CRUCIFIED!" and Wally is just instantly all "Awww!!!"(of course)
