Just heard this on IRC

<XXXXXXXXXXX> they got some viewer mail along the lines of "dear cartoon network: i hate furries", then apparently they thought it was funny to air a reply along the lines of:
<XXXXXXXXXX> "so do we. we're going to put them in furry zoos and charge for admission... $15 extra to see the pandas"

dunno if anyone has seen it...some people were making a big deal of it (as to be expected)

Right, mouse presumably has the rest of the conversation, so I'm taking bets on how long it takes for someone to use the words "bigot" or "hateful", or any derivatives thereof.

I'm laying 2:1 odds that they'll be used within 10 lines of the breaking news.

At this point , I think that type of bet (A.K.A. the SURE SHOT) should be paying 1.01:1

I didnt the keep a log or anything , but the guy was upset that the the viewer said he "hated" furries, emphasis on the hate, and that cartoon network "agreed" with them. and that was within 10 lines.

I don't watch cartoon network lately so I have no idea if this happened or if this is a distortionor not, but an arguement ensued, I think I was almost banned from this channel again

I been drinking when I get out of work so I cant rememeber too well..I may or may not have been compared to Matthew Shepard's killers (seriously) ...Shepard was definatly brought up by someone tho after I told him sending Cartoon Network a letter was a stupid idea and furries are to blame for this anyway.

it was definatly a WTF?! moment, regardless

Wait, which one was Matthew Shepherd again?

In any case, it does have to be said that stating the obvious isn't really something you should compare with murder. And yet statements like that seem to be fairly standard amongst furries...

Matthew Shepherd was that gay guy who got tied to a fence post and beaten to death by some red necks a few years back, I believe.

I'm honestly surprised that anyone at cartoon network even knew what furries were. The response kinda makes it sound like they don't know what the guy's talking about but don't want to admit it.

Then again they are a network devoted to cartoons, so they must have heard of them. Huh.

Oh, fuck me. Angelfire has apparently decided to be a bitch about remote linking. Where do you guys host your avatars? I feel naked without my wet rat pic.

was thinking the same thing , that they just got some email and shot off a response. Who knows. It was on Adult Swim, theres gotta be someone here who seen it.

I was going to compliment you on the new, totally sweet angelfire avatar

where I used to keep my stuff, they did the same thing, and blocked even small image hotlinking. More recently I was hosting it on imageshack but its been showing up broken the past few days so I just removed it. It was actually probably fine there, maybe I just needed to re-upload it

www.imageshack.us

you could also try linking to Livejournal avatars...I dont know if thats polite or not tho ..

Re: Hating Furies
Who fucking doesn't, especially those who've been in the fandom at one point? Mike Hirtes' anger is directly proportional to his exposure to furrydom, I've found. I use him as the yardstick. Anyone who falls below the straight line on the graph is either lying or brain damaged and anyone who lands above is overdoing it or has other issues and furrydom is a convenient target. Not that I mind as furrydom deserves it.

Re: Matthew Sheppard
The most glaring self-justification in the minds of homosexual nutcases for any behaviour no matter how offensive, annoying, antisocial, or just plain counterproductive. If they were right, then every last one of those freaks running around in SanFran, Provincetown, or Anthrocon in skimpy fuck-me shorts with their nipples to the wind would be beaten into chop meat before they got five feet. Given their profusion and continued non-chop-meat status, I'd say Matt was an exception and not the rule. But reality shall not intrude on self-righteousness. BTW, thanks you dumb fucks for setting back the progress of straight and gay relations every chance you get.

Re: image hosting
Get an ISP that includes personal webspace and doesn't ban hotlinking.

Re: Cartoon Network
Is that dumbass channel still getting viewers? Crap, but some people don't know when they've got way too much free time on their hands. Sadly, I just installed DirecTV for a friend last night who will spend half his time watching it.

This actually did happen. Every Thursday, Adult Swim shows "cards" (their B&W messages) during commercial breaks that feature letters from AS viewers. You can post these things on their forums, then they'll pick a few and respond to them during these breaks. The text mouse stated is correct. I just about keeled over laughing when I saw it, wondering how long it would be before forums and IRC lit up with furry outrage. It was fortunate, too. I followed InuYasha the first couple of runs, but AS now only airs new episodes on Saturday, so I've seen most of the series. Last night's episode was the one before the new episodes, however, so I was catching up. Lately, I'd normally have it on M*A*S*H.

Someone around there has to be familiar with furries, because they aired it during InuYasha, which is the one show of the AS weekly lineup that is likely to attract the most furries. (If you're not familiar with the series, the main character is a dog demon, which looks kind of like the male equivalent of an anime catgirl... human-looking, with animal ears poking out the top of his head.) The only one that would be more likely to get that out to furries is Wolf's Rain, but it only airs on Saturdays.

The AS boards make furry boards look like basions of good grammar and spelling. As most of the discussions there consist of poorly-spelled declarations of how George Dubya sucks, gay marriage is an affront to God, or Trigun sucks - Bebop rules vs. Bebop sucks - FLCL rules, I haven't looked at it in a loooooooooong time. But, I do remember seeing some references to stuff like Sabrina Online or Supermegatopia... so there are furries around there.

Might just be worth peeking back in to see what a frenzy they're in.

I cracked a smile when I saw it too. My first thought was "Oh yeah, this is going to be fun to watch online".

Teh furreez are overreacting as usual but it's amusing to see how fast their righteous indignation is inflamed over a fifteen second blip on television. I'm just waiting for the time when someone uses the term "furverts" on the Adult Swim bumps. :)

Send the pic to me, and I'll host it on my site. :)

Speaking of Adult Swim, MC Chris slipped in a dig at furries in an audio skit about Star Wars fans. No, I do not know where you can find it.

a simple search on "free image hosting" should bring you up a very large list of stuff, at least look at a website that compares all of them. Some don't even require you to sign up, you just upload and it gives you a link back.

photobucket.com allows hotlinking, that's why I generally use for my avatars when I can be bothered to use one.
