As if there was ever any doubt, but in his most recent screed he's now in favor of torturing prisoners, as his web page (http://www.livejournal.com/~fiskblack) shows.
Somehow, the idea of torturing people in order to defend the "American way of life" collides head-on with the very things that America stands for in the first place. You know? Such as the right to be be free from being tortured?
I sure hope the door to the tomb holding George Washington's corpse is sturdy, or there's gonna be one seriously pissed off zombie marching his way from Mount Vernon (and you know how good he is with an axe). |

I see a red commie and I want him painted white
No coloreds or yellows, I want them to turn white
Err, no, that's not exactly what it says.
Anyhow, I realize that a personal journal and blog is the place to share your views, no matter how kooky they might be, but Jesus. Yes, these people were mistreated, which is sad, and I feel we should move on, rather than be browbeaten to hell and back over an infraction that others wouldn't even blink over; however I certainly do not condone what happened, and would not want to see it happen again.
If you have a systematic, organized program of humiliation and degredation as a means of breaking people down for the extraction of information, as instigated by intelligence officials higher up on the command chain, then I don't care. Humiliation and degredation should have an important purpose if it's to be carried out.
I dunno about that, Jay... I mean, come on, now. Look at how pissed we still are over how our POWs were treated in, say, your beloved Vietnam which you wax about in every other strip - do we really want to set a new precedent in "ends justify the means"?
With this in mind, I put together an organization that's going to play a pivotal role in the life of Fisk as Better Days progresses into his adulthood. He gets wrapped up in the world that revolves around this philosophy, or I should say, this reality. The following is a summary description of an organization that I wrote up a long time ago tailored to Fisk's story
Oh, goody. Nothing like making yourself, er, I mean, your character into a freedom fighter; nothing more than the generally liberal fuzzy fans want than a big strong man to protect them from oppression, even if it means stomping everything in it's path. |

I was listening to some dude from the military last weekend who was there during that whole thing and knew some of the people involved. Apparently a lot of the people who were being tortured weren't even Iraqi militants, many were family members and friends who were being tortured in an attempt to make the militants surrender. The so-called pictures the public hadn't seen were of americans raping 14 yo girls and such other horrors.
But that's just the grapevine I heard from that army dude, i'm not one to judge. |

Isn't it comforting to know that this guy is never going to posess a position of any REAL power and/or authority?
And when is Wayd going to show up? I expected him to be here by now. |

I was raised democrat, but over time, I've settled into a "lesser of two evils" mindset. We get hosed some way or another no matter who we vote for.. so I try and go with the guy I figure is gonna hose us less. This time around, I figure it's Bush. Something about Kerry makes my Spidey-sense tingle. Dole did the same thing. I definitely don't agree with the Republican agenda as far as abortion and gay marriages... but, overall, their plan on most other matters sits better with me. And as far as Iraq, we're in it, like it or not. I think putting Kerry in charge of the situation would be like putting a dog in to babysit your cats.
It'll make my visit to my visit to see my family.. who are largely dyed-in-the-wool democrats.. very interesting in a couple of weeks. But, then, I don't talk politics with them.
Some folks can be surprised to hear that I, an environmental consultant, would dare to vote for a Republican. Alas, I've become rather jaded on the whole environmental thing. It's come to be my observation that your politics really don't matter when it comes to the environment. Between the tree huggers, the bureaucrats, the policy-makers, and the average-joe who has to abide by these policies... it's a big, confused mess of red tape that ultimately puts the average joe so on the defensive that he might just decide to dump his oil in the river out of spite and frustration. IMO, environmental policies and practices aren't really going to improve until individuals decide as business owners/operators and citizens to start being responsible. Until then, it's like fighting the tide.
The tree-huggers piss everyone off. The legislators confuse everything with minutae. And then there's us consultants who have to make sense of it all while convincing the client that we don't do this for free... and we're not in the habit of giving someone a special rate simply because they're pissed that they have to monitor their stormwater discharges or something because "the gubment tol' them to." I don't know what the burnout rate for environmental consultants is, but I've only been at it a little over 4 years and I'm already looking at something else... preferably GIS analyst. At least then I can help organize information to understand environmental problems, but am not so much stuck in the middle of telling people what they can and can't do.
The point to that divergence was that as far as environmental stuff is concerned, I don't think the Democrats are necessarily helping things more than the Republicans would hurt them. It's good we have folks willing to chain themselves to trees or deal with this stuff in legalese..... but, until individuals on the whole start to change their thinking on where they're going to take their used motor oil, or whether or not to walk the 20 ft. to the garbage can... the politics don't really make that much of a dent, I think. :P |

Allow me to make it simpler for you........
Vote for a Democrat, and you might get fucked over.
Vote for a republican, and you will get fucked over.
IMHO, of course. |

(Yawn...)
What do I need to say? I make as much as $3600 per week, own my own business, own my own house, live my life the way I want without a by-your-leave from the state, and the defenders of the liberal status quo... DON'T.
But my income pretty much says it all.
*Those of you thinking I have special help or special circumstances are fooling yourselves and have not paid attention. I grew up on welfare in a housing project and it sucked. Hard work, smart work, self sacrifice, dedication, delayed gratification, and honest self-appraisal are what gets you out of that. NOT another government social spending program. MY taxes are what those who live on welfare and disability live off of. And while they have zero mobility living on that pittance, I have as much as I can make for myself. Difference is, I'm not blind to that fact unlike too many others. |

Hey now. Wayd has as much right to speak here as anyone. Wayd's never come here to target us for our political beliefs. I despise Bush as much as the next guy, but if Wayd doesn't feel that way, I'm cool with that.
This isn't AFF here, where the groupthink MUST be upheld under pain of death.
I think Wayd and I can agree that Barbera Streisand AND Ann Coulter need to have a big hard dick shoved up them both so maybe they can finally stfu and stop annoying us with their 24/7 PMS. |

Says what?
You say this shit all the time, I have a friend who is very left-wing, and he got a real good job and he is buying a house with his fiancee...whats your fucking point already? Anyone who is not a republican (or whatever) must be on welfare and not working?
Btw, Ill say it again, "liberal" doesnt mean anything, its a slur for the right and an increasingly wide banner for the left. Such a meaningless word can't really have a "status quo"....
(not to mention the fact there is ONLY ONE STATUS QUO)
MY taxes are what those who live on welfare and disability live off of.
So do mine. The difference is, I don't bitch about it. What if I need it someday? In your world everyone on disability or welfare is faking it or abusing the system somehow. |

I think we're getting off track here. Let's get back on: Jay Naylor is a racist bisexual pedophile worse-than-republican off-the-deep-end whacko. |

As much as I love you, Shmorky, I seem to remember people making similar claims about you - however, I don't know your political allegence, don't care, and you're a lovable wacko - with a bad haircut. :) |

You MUST have me confused for someone else. I don't make comics where underage kids fuck. Or comics where I shove my political agenda down someone's throat. Everything I do is a big joke and anyone who takes it seriously is a fag. Of course people make stuff up about me. I'm a big fucking jerk and I deserve it.
Also, how do you know what my hair looks like or are you just doing what everyone else does by going on what you seen/heard 2-4 years ago? |

You're taking my post far to seriously; I was not referencing any of Jay's personal agenda unto you, I mean your brief statements above only about being a crazy bi-guy. I don't know any of the above, or even these - and don't care, it's none of my business - I was merely seeking to rib you a bit.
I'm going off of the old info, and your self portraits; hell, my hair sucks ass, and I know it. :( |
