How many of you post both here and Eat All Furries?
What do you think of the board?
I've heard it mentioned here a few times and bumped into it just the other day for the first time.

I was a member there briefly, but killed my account. I'm pretty unimpressed with them. The come off mostly as a SomethingAwful wannabe site. With CYD, you have the interest of people in the know about furrydom discussing how it was, where it took a sharp detour, and where it might be going. You get the insights of people that have witnessed furrydom's decline, some intelligent analysis of the situation, and some comedy gold. With EAF, you largely get a bunch of non-furries or, at best, vaguely semi-furries picking targets at random and going ballistic on them. It's more about pointing and laughing at the furries for the sake of pointing and laughing at something than it is saying "That's point-and-laughworthy.... why did this happen?"

I think the most telling characterization of it came when the admin locked a thread where folks started discussing the how and why of furry freakdom because there was "too much armchair psychoanalysis and not enough funny."

Overall, EAF just takes a rather Jerry Springer-esque approach. Nothing wrong with it.. just not my bag.

They got suspended on Livejournal, so they moved to EZboard. Some people (well, one in particular) have tried to get them booted from EZboard, but so far without luck.

Pretty much what ZenZhu said. I gave it a once or twice over and decided it was total crap. (In my opinion atleast)

Never bothered with it, I prefer reading the discussions here, far more intelligent discussions of hows and whys rather than just pointing and laughing.

I've looked at EAF once, where I read quite a bit, but didn't return for basically the same reasons ZenZhu and DA mentioned.

Thats quite ironic, because thats exactly why some of them don't come back here actually.

CYD sucks ass. I posted there for a while, then realized these people did nothing but sit around talking about intellectual shit about how they're not furries but are anyway. They're like those people thatfucking read books and shit, which is gay.

I went there when I had PMT because its a good release to just post there and generally be nasty and make witty comments. I wouldn't lower myself to that level any other time of the month though!

I saw one funny EAF writeup that was textpasted to me. I am not an LJ user, refuse to look at anything there for fear of the damage it will cause - and saw their forum after the LJ thing. Never bothered to go past the front page.

Why is Eat All Furries still just a forum? I thought they were gonna have smart-ass unfunny articles and random image dumps from disgruntled furries like we do.

Because they lack the intelligence, wit, and effort now that $MUCK_OF_CHOICE has unbanned them?

I've read it on and off. My opinion of them is very low. People here are more mature and intelligent and knowledgable about the perils of furry. However i think some of the stuff they say is funny and they're amusing to watch.

From what I could gather in my snooping, the group was started by former furries who felt betrayed by the fandom for being what we already know. The supposed leader or founder over there, some girl, was into furry as a young teen but now she and the other leadership are in college and realizing their mistakes in being part of furry as kids. They are coping with that by an overabundance of harsh attacks on furries in the spirit of "fun".

Basically, it's the same as our stories - except they were way younger than us when the shit hit the fan. This fact is evident in that their reaction to the furry is paralleled in their maturity level. I'm also under the impression that some of their membership were victimized or targeted by perv adult furries when they were still teenagers - all on the chat rooms of course. These people and only a select few over there actually know what furry and its history is really about. But it is rarely, if ever, discussed. From what I can gather, such discussion is seemingly discouraged.

It also seems to attract an unusually large amount of people who know NOTHING about furry except what was on CSI or whatever and all they want to do is act silly. an amazing amount of fights break out there that I have never bothered to read. There are lots of oversensitive furries that post there that get offended and the EAF crew seems to take pleasure in torturing them. Not only that, but they are totally indiscriminate with their victims. It could be a total furry hater or revered member of their group - if they say something 'off', they will get burned for it.

In fact, simple posting of just about anything seemingly sets them off to make fun of said person regardless of who they are or what they said. Their sense of humor is very particular, and it seems people who "get it" are the only ones who thrive.

I thought they were cool at first, they were way more subtle in the very beginning and more focused on silliness, but now it is an ill-disguised hate site regardless of how much they try to denounce hate. There are way too many wild-card members who joined in the past few months who do drastic and crazy shit and there is no authority or attempt to stop any madness that may break out and its fairly out of control even though the leadership continually states they are only interested in amusement. Not that hating furries actually means anything, really. but still, the group is incredibly harsh.

Taken a look now and then, nothing of note there, and they seem to be rather imature.

That's all I have to say.

Later.

CYD = "mature" (older) men who have created a support group to piss and moan about how the furries ruined their lives (as well as thier favorite cartoons) to the point where now they can't even watch road rovers without staring at Colleen's massive rack; but now they're getting over it day by day. Also a misplaced Dave Kelly.

EAF = The same crybaby support group except 10 years younger, and getting constantly railed on by the EAF admins and also by a certain clandestine order who holds the real power on EAF. Plus furry trolls by the truckload, obsessive cyberstalkers, and teenage furries like Charisma who are actually buddied up with pinkfairylotus, but think if they distract the forum enough by venting, they won't catch any flak for it.

Oh wait, she's on this board too, you guys just didn't bother to do a background check.

I only seen maybe 1 or 2 episodes of that , but I thought it was cool. It might have been short episodes on one of those animation showcase programs that Im thinking of.

Sam and Max was actually a comic first, they are in some issues of Fantagraphics "Critters" comics (1986)

yeah, thats how I found this board in the first place. Pink linked to it at her forum because someone made a thread here saying horrible things about her looks. Ironic really, because its actually quite nice here despite that.

I agree with every word Viron said about EAF basically

I read Steve Purcell's comic. That was pretty funny in an over-the-top way. I didn't even know there was a cartoon show, much less a game... Was the cartoon anything like the comic?

I have the entire season of the television series on my computer. 8)

It's a shame it never got past the first season, probably because the kids didn't know half the words they ever said and wrote it off as boring garbage. Really, you just add a few mild curse words and (more) sexual suggestivity into the show and you've got an adult cartoon.

Some of the things they said made me laugh like a maniac.

Yeah, he seems to have some idea of how EAF works. His faux pyschoanalasys is pretty laughable, but those almost always are. Also funny: "CYD is more knoweldgeble to the 'perils' of furry"; "Eaf is an ill-disguised hate site regardless of how much they try to denounce hate."

"If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, stick it in it's cloaca!"

Oh, wait, that's the OTHER opposition.

EAF and CYD have similar common ideas, which equate to "make fun of the retardation of the fandom". The rest of the foundations are quite dissimilar; trying to contrast the two will end up with a very large Vehn diagram. Each has it's own group, and whist many folks may agree that various aspects of each 'jive' with them, there will be other things they just don't like.

It's like comparing Joe Cartoon and Homestar Runner, or Fark and SomethingAwful. They're all comedy sites, but their focuses, no matter how subtle, are different.

...why am I doing bullshit psychoanalysis, myself? :(

This was another thing I didn't care for with EAF. You have a collection of folks that can give just about anyone shit if they have had a bad enough day, but if you shove back, you call the wrath of all of them down on you. They also harass people for arbitrary things like the size of a graphic in their signature. I saw one girl harped on because she had a picture from Yu-Gi-Oh that was about 2" x 5". They picked at her until she removed it. That kind of stuff, ironically, creates an environment where they're almost more demanding of conformism than furries. That kind of pissant dictatorship detracts from their overall credibility as anything other than SA wannabes.

Actually, i would do that too, because that shit is annoying. I hate huge banner sigs and gigantic animated avatars...

The only reason I don't like EAF is its all about whos who. Theres too much buillshit, its like what you would find on the SomethingAwful livejournal community. People post shit to earn brownie points with each other, and try to one up each other to get the 'furry basher of the week' status... its boring.

Pet peeves of a few individuals are one thing.. but a whole forum-controlling clique deciding someone's not welcome in a forum until they conform to their standards on something as insignificant as banner size, however, is just pointlessly dictatorial.
