In searching for graphics related to "shrug," I came across a pic of Fred from Scooby Doo shrugging. When I clicked the link to grab the pic, this is what came up. I've seen furry obsessive fanfic.. Sonic... Anime.... but Scooby Doo is a new level of obsessive for me.

after reading that, I'm gonna say farewell to you, CYD folks.

I never was a friend of Scooby Doo, and thought that it was a rather lame show... but... man, from that to doing this to those characters, meant only to entertain kids... it's something I'd prefer to live without it.

I know it's not your fault, I know it's not even your creation... but, damm, I prefer to ignore some things. Or I prefer to be vaguely aware of them.
I don't need to have those things shoved on my very nose. That little bit of slashfic has made me feel sick, very, very sick. I didn't need to know it.

What scares me the most is how easily you find it. I don't care if it's only two keystrokes away from me, via Google. On the Internet, if you search it, you'll find, in most of the cases. And I'm scared 'cause you are finding it, therefore... you're searching for it.

It happens the same with the amount of stuff you find on VCL, and other similar galleries. I know there's some GROSS stuff over there, and it's only a couple of clicks away... what I don't understand is why you look for it.

I prefer to keep the few remnants of innocence I still treasure, and the little respect I still have for the human race intact. Therefore, I'll stop checking CYD.

Sometimes, it just gets you like a flying trout. In my case, I searched "shrug" on Google to find pictures of folks shrugging (the result was that Elton-looking fellow in a kilt I used in another post). The picture of Fred came up on the image search, and since it fit the shrug theme and had a nice retro comedy value to it, I clicked to snag the image. The page that came up was the Fred the Angsty Leader page. Fortunately, it wasn't porn... but more like some preteen girl mooning over NSynch or something.

Not to sound callous, but maybe Estruego has a point in leaving - by leaving CYD, he's now managed to completely remove himself from the furry fandumb! Why? CYD deals with fandumb - granted, in a rather mean and satirical sense, but it still deals with it. Since Estruego has now left CYD and all, he's completed a breakaway from the fandumb, and will probably be doing better for it.

So I say we raise a toast to him, and wish him luck in his cartooning!

He's left CYD, but not necessarily the furry scene per se. Morbid curiosity brings a lot of folks back now and then. By the time you get to something like CYD, though, you're into the death throes of any real ties to furrydom. It's like the last transfer station to life beyond furrydom. Some folks leave in a grand declaration like he did. Others simple slip quietly away, as I have tended to do from boards. Either way, here's hoping he doesn't look back.

I have to go with Computolio on this. It sucked. Along with Superfriends and all the other crap of the time. Having to sit through that followed by bowling and then ABC Wide World of Sports while sitting all day in the waiting room of my local Sears Automotive when I was a kid blew chunks. It was more entertaining to try to decipher the intricate legalese on the back of the service agreements.

When I was a kid, Scooby Doo was the only thing on television worth watching besides Land of the Lost. I liked the unpredictability of it all. If you don't like Scooby Doo, you can go back to Russia with all the other Commies.
