Funny-animals are literally anthropomorphic animals. period.

People read way too far into the 'funny' part. I like funny-animal comedy, but that is by no means a requirement.

Funny-animals dont have to be funny in the same way there is nothing really "funny" about a top fuel funny-car. (in fact the terms mostly come from the same time period, the 60's ..tho "funny animals" might be even older)

Funny cars were called that because of the stretched wheelbase on a stock bodied car. they look strange, or funny, not like a real car. A funny animal is an exagerrated or distorted depiction of an animal (a cartoon depiction).

When I was a kid, I liked horror movies, then after seeing a million of them, they werent so scary. Similiarly, I'm very desensitized to most extreme furry art,

I would most likely find that art directory distasteful, I just don't care to look anymore. I've seen so much sick shit, Im more at the point of wanting to ask the artists directly 'what the fuck thier problem is'

(OTOH I like a lot of pinups and general 'furry art' - minus the totally insane fetishes and other crap)

Those are not furry comics. I never really liked them myself, but geeze... prove to me that they're furry. Usagi and the Turtles have always been a little tongue-in-cheek, so by his definition he is wrong.

There's a comic book called Funny Animals, published in the US by Fawcett in 1942 or thereabouts. That could be the origin of the term. Maybe.

That, and most of us here are pretty jaded when it comes to drawings and the like. When you've seen stuff like that Full Throttle pic, or some of this vore shit, no one can really draw anything that'll shock you anymore. Disgust you? Sure. Annoy you? Probably. Their definitions and information is actually pretty close to the Wikipedia entry for "Furry" that I'd been a major contributor for a few years ago. Needless to say, it has since been severly reduced in content by future edits for some strange reason...
