Post subject: Anubis - issue #2 |
|
|
I was just looking at some releases at an online shop and I notice that finally that second issue of Anubis Dark Desires is out..
I know no one gives a shit about that part, but I found this kind of weird
(from rabbit valley)
Anubis Dark Desire Issue #2, August 2004
Cover by Diana Harlan-Stein
Back cover by Sara Palmer
A Kiss in the River by Kevin Richardson and Sara Palmer (hetrosexual content)
Secrets of Anubis by Frank Gembeck Jr. (homosexual content)
The Hunters by Sara Palmer and Heather Bruton (hetrosexual content)
The Tomb Plunderer featuring Chester Ringtail by Terrie Smith (homosexual content)
Crash by Diana Harlan-Stein (hetrosexual content)
Another Great Treasure by Dark Natasha (hetrosexual content)
Anyway, who the fuck ever mixes hetero and homosexual content in ANY adult media (specifically: PORN) ? I can see doing that in something that is for a bisexual audience... maybe thats the case right there. Trying to boost sales? It still strikes me as a strange call from RadioComix.
Furry fandom is always a mess with this sort of thing - I point this example out because its RadioComix, its a published adult comic title and gets distributed nationally (....well, to whoever orders it anyway... ) They went out of the way to make a 'gay version' of thier Genus comic book. |

And therefore anyone who buys that magazines gets the label
<-----
Just think about watching video with Sky Lopez getting it on with Rocco and after that some homos exploring the mangina.
My, would that kill the boner. And the whole concept of porn.
They should most definitely put an OWNED text to the part where the gay action starts. |

I figure it's pretty much a testament to the crossover so prevalent in furrydom.
There's nothing wrong with being bi or gay.. but dabbling in bi simply because it gets your willie stroked by someone... anyone... is a monument to desperation.
Is it any surprise Terrie did a gay-themed story? Why doesn't that woman just admit it to herself and squirrel money away to go to Sweden to get a sex change and a tummy tuck? Then she can become the angrogynous boi she wants to be. Hell, all she'll have to do for legal documents is change a couple of letters in her name.
Ripping the "Y" from his varsity sweater, Letterman changes Terrie Smith..... to Terry Smith! |

Probably because her pimp Glen Wooten won't let her. He knows that once Terri became a Terry, the marraige would be kaput and Glen won't have his little Chester factory around to make money off of anymore. |

I have got a copy of the comic in question, and I can tell you about the two gay porn stories, both of them are dream sequences, and rather lame ones at that, in addition both stories had no dialog, saved the creators the trouble of actually havimg to write a story.
It looks like they were included becuase they fit the theme of the anthology.
As for the astists who did them it's nosuprise really, Frank Gembeck is a noted gay furry pr0n artist, and Terrie Smith did a Chester story..
But like I said they were both weak and forgetable too.
Later.

Thats pretty much exactly the angle I was coming from.
I dont have a problem with gay porn, even gay furry porn...I just really have no reason to want to look at it. Mixing gay and straight porn into one comic is really illogical.

Well, I really liked the first issue, especially the first story and also Dark Natasha's (mainly because that sort of art is pretty fucking awesome for a anthology comic book - and a furry comic at that)...so I definately intend on buying this one at some point in the near future.
From being around furry fandom I am totally desensitzed to the gay furry porn thing, its just more of a thing where when I thought about it, it seemed a strange thing to do. Yeah, the stories 'fit the theme'..but a major part of the theme, besides Anubis, is that its an erotic/porno comic book. Its virtually guaranteed that everyone is going to be disinterested/dislike different portions of it. That just doesnt seem to be a good formula for an anthology series...but hey, what do I know ?
ALSO:
From the same company that brought you Associated Student Bodies - comes a brand new XXX furry anthology comic (surprise!) - coming soon! ...SPOOO!
It's filled with just only the freshest Spooo!

The FAQ section of that site sure is er... um... interesting, with that emphesis on "the freshest quality Spooo". But it starts to read like a sick joke after awhile, and not a very good one at that.

How is this different from any other cartoon porn on earth? True, the average hentai manga hasn't been known to have gay stuff popping up midway through, but it does manage to often throw in something so horrible that you almost begin to WISH you were looking at gay porn.
As for the Anubis(haha) thingy, I guess they assume that their readers are so heavily desensitized and borderline bidesperate anyway that they could get away with it quite easily and nobody would care or perhaps even notice. |

It makes sense if it's aimed at females, girls are now beginning to show the same liking for homosexual art as guy's show for girl on girl art.
Most of the yaoi artists are females after all.
My theory is it's just the idea of seeing two hot males kissing each other and then fantasising about being the lucky girl able to join in. |

Maybe the reason is because the anagram of anubis is bi anus.
Who knows. Furry works in mysterious ways. |

Yeah, but then he can slap a ringtail on Terry and have boi buttsex. Of course, Terri probably has a strap-on named Chester that she bends Glen over with while chanting "I'm a pretty boi" over and over in her mind.
That's probably why her art has never improved over the 10 years that I've been familiar with it. Too much imaginary boiplay and not enough practice or remedial anatomy lessons.
"Spooo is an upcoming anthology comic book published by Rabbit Valley Artists Cooperative Association The comic will present stories and images from hot or upcoming artists!
For hot or upcumming readers.
"We want to cover it all.
With a thin, sticky coating of Spooo!
"Better yet - buy some stuff from one of the places that will be caring our comic"
Scanner for artwork - $200
Getting your friend to develop your webpage - $50, plus a case of Mt. Dew, dinner at Taco Bell, and two commissions of Lola Bunny deficating
The value of proofreading - priceless
"We don't want to give unrealistic dates. The hope is once we start releasing Spooo we will release Spooo every quarter. But we are willing to hold back if we can't make the best Spooo possible."
I believe the latter part is known as "edging." Releasing spooo every three months..... I would think furries tend to do that on a semi-daily basis... usually in their parents' basement while swapping between windows of Tapestries, Furcadia, and Sabrina Online.
I'm a little disturbed by the puckered appearance of the "O"s in their font..... |

Sir, as a web developer I am offended. I settle for nothing less than Olive Garden. |

Yeah, but we're talking furry currency here.
Once I break into technical writing, I'm hoping to add web development to my skills list. I can do small-time stuff, but I'm not up on most of the languages and need to learn my way around Dreamweaver.
So... maybe I'll negotiate around Macaroni Grill or the local Japanese steakhouse. The only thing edible at Olive Garden now, IMO, is the salad and breadsticks, now that they did away with the chicken pesto ravioli. |

Which? that SPOOO! comic or the Anubis one? SPOOO is probably going to be mostly gay, because its rabbit valleys rabco publishing, and thats basically all they do.
It wouldn't seem that weird at all if you compare this to an online furry art archive, a webcomic, or whatever.
Look outside of furry fandom - these guys carry a large selection of Adult titles - www.ripoffpress.com, and while they do have Genus comic books, under 'X-rated anthropomorphics', and a hentai section ...I would say both of those arn't even a quarter of what they have.
I'm a little disturbed by the puckered appearance of the "O"s in their font.....
No kidding, Im sure that was the solitary motivation for choosing that style font for the title. |

RadioComix.... Heard of them once from a hentai-collecting (don't ask) buddy of mine who found one of their works on a hentai site. Apparently they did some card-deck-named comic that had two stories -- one had some overly-manly she-wolf fuck some little boy, and another with a little boy forcing himself on an obese dog lady with a mini-dick. Wow, I really wish I was making that up....
But judging by that "quality" material, I take it they're doing well in sales. |

I wish you were making that up too. I think I might just be sick at the very idea of that sort of comic. |

I dunno what's more cringe-worthy -- that sex with Prepubescent boys is the theme o' the day (though I've been jaded to that shit for awhile), the fact that ALL of the female counterparts are NOT attractive even by a boner-from-toons standard, or the fact that they couldn't make the full leap into dickgirl comics, so they gave Fatty McBowser a mini-dick.
Dickgirls' penises; now available in fun size!
Gives me high hopes for this Anubis shit. And by high hopes, I mea the kind where you go to a roller rink hoping to see someone crash and break soemthing -- sure it's a terrible incident, but hey, you leave with a wierd, yet entertaining, story for your friends. |

Yeah, but furry has no Dale Earnhardt to lose. Just a few layers of grime, and that foul odor. |
