The topic of obsession makes me think back to an... artist... on VCL I remember from some years back. At the time, his work struck me as different from the fare of foxes, wolves and skunks, since you don't see many avian morphs about, despite his lack of ability and penchant for oversized boobs.

As his stuff appeared in the New Artwork section over the couple of years I regularly surfed VCL, his own total obsession became apparent. Not only does he have a thing for birds and pterodactyls and such, but he's particularly hot for Teryx from the Dinosaucers cartoon.

What really pushes his presence online into the bizarre, aside from his apparent inability to further his artistic skill by any amount, is his paintings on his car... as well as his choice of interior decor.

His birdie pimpmobile: 1 2 3
And his "houseguests": 1 2 3 4 5

Creepy.

If you want to see how a normal folk transforms his afition for birds into an obsession that eats his mind to the point to believe he IS a bird after a tremendous trauma on Vietnam war (the trauma consisting on how he sees an American plane bombing a lot of trees crowded by birds), I suggest watching the 1984 movie Birdy, directed by Alan Parker. It' does a particularly good job to explain the reasons why people like this character self-isolate from the rest of the society, and end up being schizofrenic.

If he was going to have dragons and crap painted on his car, he should of had it profesionally done. I have seen some airbrushes of "female" robots on the back of a few truck. All he had to do was draw a few scetches for the concepts he wanted done, and let the true artist do the work. Sure it would probably cost a week's pay, but so what.

I'm sure the guy at the shop could have done a much better job. right now, that rustbucket looks like something out of a bad scooby-doo cartoon.

WTF

That's not just creepy, that's "I need serious help" creepy. Don't get me wrong, liking a character from a show is fine and dandy with me. But when you start mutilating mannequins by painting nipples on them and putting a bird head on them... to put them in your house as decoration. And then paint your junkheap of a car with a poorly drawn character. It's time to get a new jacket and some pills.

I would wager that he didn't even have to sketch the concept. If it was like most such things I've seen on vans (straight out of the 80's :D) he just borrowed an image from Hajime Sorayama.

Well, I caught the ass-end (and I DO mean ASS) of Dennis the Menace's spot. The host ended it all by saying "Doesn't it just make you want to pour him a nice bowl of milk?"

I answered "Yeah, with an arsenic chaser!"

I am unsure as to how I feel in regards to missing this train wreck called "entertainment". Since I've opted to not have cable TV on my prem, I've found that I've been doing more in the evenings. Not content to just listen to the radio, or read, I'm actually working on projects..

.. and downloading PUBLIC TELEVISION shows in the background.

--

I never watched Freakazoid when it was on the air... and I have to say, the "in jokes" aren't as good as Animaniacs, but it was somewhat entertaining.
My new avatar came from a Season 2 episode where it was sponsored by "Anubis Meats". For the life of me, I don't know why I thought it was amusing enough to clean up and PNGify(tm).

The only character I recalled was "The Huntsman". I found that in the two series that were made, there were only two Huntsman cartoons, and they were 'filler' - he walked into the police department compaining about a lack of crime...

I wonder why this had any significance, and why I derailed the fuck out of this thread.

I find almost any modern WB cartoon to be utterly unwatchable, as the number of in-jokes seems to far outweigh any actual content or humor these days. There's only so many times you can see caricatures of Dustin Hoffman and Hillary Clinton before it becomes old and only so many in-references to pop culture you can have go over your head before it just loses you. And "poo gas" was never funny.

That's a new look for Number 6. "I am not a number, I'm freewheeling!"

And THAT's absolutely frightening. I hope she has Martha White bloomers on under that dress.
