Y'know.. it takes a certain kind of genius.. and a healthy dose of insanity... to recall those scenes from those two movies and link them together to imply what that .gif does. Kudos to you, Tailgunner, or whoever created that piece of brillant filth. Now all you need is a few more steps to link it to Kevin Bacon.

Hmm.. I'm almost tempted to hop onto the terror that is Furnet IRC and go into #Bearden, give a link to this image on the sig hoster that I use, and then post the ensuing discussion here.

But now furries can OMG so totaly pwn yuo by whipping out the absolutely brilliant argument "How can you say those horrible things about furries when you have an avatar like that? OMG I'M SO SMERT."

And they'll be buzzing around you like flies on shit now, thinking you're the 'safe guy', the good furry that's been accepted by CYD and the guy for gentle furs to stick with in these dark and fearsome woods.

Because furries are stupid.

Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Internet is. You have to see it for yourself. This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. If you don't click the link, the story ends. You wake in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. If you click it, you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes. Remember: All I am offering is the truth, nothing more.

That's Pedobear. I'm not sure what the story is behind it, but it's a big gag over on IdleChan... and those iichan.net guys are almost as non-furry as something awful. They draw a pretty deep line in the sand between anime catgirls and furry stuff.

It doesnt take much effort to remove that line in the sand.

Actually, there's quite a bit of difference between this, and this.

So, yeah, more effort than you think. Namely that the human element is kept a priority in catgirls.

Anime fans that think they are better than anyone? thats probably the biggest joke right there.

No clue. Found the current one in a directory index of someone's junk.

And, of course, there's my old old old avatar I had for a few hours:

Lets not even get into the fact the HUGE amount of crossover between the two, the intertwined history OR the fact that they share almost all the same aspects.

Anime fandom got bigger...thats about it. Other circumstances in furry fandom caused it to be the way it is.

Just because a cartoon comes from Japan, does not make it good. And just becuase you might watch that cartoon from another country does not make you superior/cool/more cultured...whatever the fucking trip with half these people is. You would be surprised at how many anime fans need to be sat down and have that explained to them.

You think furries freak out if you dont like thier animal artwork ? Try it with Anime sometime... its funny. I recommend the 'xenophobe' technique - when someone starts talking about anime or any of that shit just nonchalantly say something like "oh, I dunno... I never liked those Chinese cartoons"

It seems that alot of obsessive fans of anime percieve the Japanese culture/society as superior because of certain traits ie. they are polite, there is hardly any(at least violent) crime, education is at a very high level, etc.

They don't seem to know how supremely fucked and stagnant the government is, how women are treated as de facto slaves, how foreigners or other non Japanese are consideres second class, so on and so forth...

And then there is always the fact that Japan has failed to admit to itself or to the world that it engaged in mass rape, biological warfare, and many other war crimes in recent history.

I'm not saying Japan is more messed up than the U.S. (or vice versa) or any such shit, I'm just think the above mentioned anime freak perspective is strange. What is wrong with western culture that causes such mass disillusionment with subsequent(or concurrent) fixation on another?

Hardly. Anime fandom can be nerdy, sure, but it's hardly gotten to the point where it's considered a sexual fetish by most people more than it is considered a fandom. And as far as I know, hentai has never gone into territory like one person being sucked ass-first into another's ass, and you'd be hard pressed to find hentai of the Sailor Scouts eating each other while simultaneously shitting while their dick-nipples shoot spooge like a fire hose.

Anime fandom got bigger...thats about it. Other circumstances in furry fandom caused it to be the way it is.

Anime fandom got bigger because it never became a perverse cesspool (and it can be argued that it's also due to being a fandom based on more accessable and mature material).

Just because a cartoon comes from Japan, does not make it good. And just becuase you might watch that cartoon from another country does not make you superior/cool/more cultured...whatever the fucking trip with half these people is. You would be surprised at how many anime fans need to be sat down and have that explained to them.

And you'd be suprised how many don't. Though there are who do.

Are you high, or just sleepy?! We're talkign about furries, people who call you a terrorist if you simply crack jokes about their artwork. I have yet to see an anime fan get that worked up about criticism.

I'd have to disagree with that statement (the remarks about Japan, anyway). A buddy of mine was stationed in Japan for a long while, and came back a total Japanophile (and before you ask, no, he wasn't an anime fan beforehand, though his time in Japan turned him into one). He's had nothing but good things to say about the place, and I know, because he loves to talk about it...

Though I would have to agree that I, too, don't understand why many anime fans have a "Japan > America" attitude.

Thats true. Unfortunatly that really doesnt address most of the elements that I was refering to. American Anime fandom was forming the late 70's in the US in SoCal and Texas with the CF/Os. A lot of the early people involved in early anime fandom are the same exact names in furry fandom. Hell, that "Otaku no Video" was at least partially about Shon Howell. Why do you think at least 50% of furry fans are also anime fans ? Its an echo. Why do you think you see all the bizarre fetishes that crop up in furry fandom? (see next)

And as far as I know, hentai has never gone into territory like one person being sucked ass-first into another's ass, and you'd be hard pressed to find hentai of the Sailor Scouts eating each other while simultaneously shitting while their dick-nipples shoot spooge like a fire hose.

...whhhaaat?

Are we talking about the same "Hentai" here?! Of course its gone into that territory!! You wouldn't be hard pressed to find any of that.. and more! With precious few exceptions, thats where all of it came from. All the stuff you are seeing in furry fandom its just furry-ized version of Japanese hentai.

And you'd be suprised how many don't. Though there are who do.

Are you high, or just sleepy?! We're talkign about furries, people who call you a terrorist if you simply crack jokes about their artwork. I have yet to see an anime fan get that worked up about criticism.

I've seen it plenty of times. Lets not forget who got banned from doing 'favorites' on DeviantArt right alongside the furries

I don't really have a problem with what you are saying here, I just find it at least a little bit amusing you seem to be reacting to my painting anime fans with a broad brush.

Anime fans are alot different from Furries. Thing is, there's that 5% that are rather... shoot why am I candy coating them, they're malodorous perverts.

The rest of us aren't that bad.

But yes, there is a dark side, spawned by the Otaku and the regular odd-balls. It's like walking around on a stratego map. You never know where the grenade is. And trust me, I've uncovered a few.

EVERY fandom has a perverted side, it's just that anime fans were lucky enough to completely break off of it, hence the hentai fandom. There simply wasn't enough populous of sane people in the furry fandom to make a seperate group. Still I wonder if I should call myself a furry, I'm still at the "Well, I'm *sort-of* a furry, but..." phase.

I don't have much time for people who define themselves entirely by a narrow interest, period. People do not know me as a 'furry' because my interest in anthro art is just one of my varied interests, and it's certainly not a 'lifestyle'. When people start living their entire lives as 'furries' then you really start having to wonder why. It goes beyond a passionate interest and into the realms of dysfunction at that point. I'm not morally troubled that Yiffyfoxytit wants to wank over badly-modified cartoon characters, because people are strange and sexuality stranger still. It just so happens however that the majority of him and his ilk are obsessive bores whose emotional development ground to a halt around age 9.

To sum up, it seems to me that being a certain type of asshole makes it more likely you'll be a furry, but being interested in furry itself does not imply the inverse. It's fun to take the piss though, because the only people who take offense (OMGFURSECUTION!), rather than take it on the chin like a mature adult, are the ones who deserve it.

Quite true.

I think the main reason the furry fandom is so much more creepy and looked down upon is that everything is jumbled together and everything is accepted.

In the anime fandom you have your: mecha fans, romance fans, action fans, catgirl fans, hentai fans, yaoi fans, otakus, etc etc etc. And MOST of these people have their limits to accepting things. Such as how lolicon, guro and beastiality is VASTLY looked down upon in the anime fandom. And if an anime fan has a certain perversion, they don't go broadcasting it for everyone to see. Sure they're still there, but they're not advertising or completely open about their perversions.

But when it comes to furry, everything is just grouped together. It is all to be accepted without a word. You don't agree with beastiality or someone's inner wolf spirit, don't say a word, you fascist hatemonger, or you'll be kicked out of furry. And in furry, perversions go hand in hand with everything else. If you go around proclaiming "HEY, I LIKE IT WHEN MY DOG FUCKS ME IN THE ASS." You're probably going to find someone that likes that too, become buddies even and share stories. And if someone says something to you, well, they're hateful/jealous and not a true furry.

Also, I think anime fans tend to have a better grip on reality.

They draw a pretty deep line in the sand between anime catgirls and furry stuff.

It doesnt take much effort to remove that line in the sand.

Man.. you take filtering out minutae, taking it out of context and/or completely missing its point, and enlarging it exponentially in an electron microscope to the level of a mutant super power.

Professor Xavier: "Before we admit you to the school, we must identify what your mutant abilities are."

mouse: "Well, Charles, I can read something and completely miss its point. Then, twist it around and magnify that misconstrued point to launch an assault on... well... like how furry pwns anime."

Colossus breaks down into tears and Wolverine pees his pants.

Professor Xavier: "My god.... I'm just glad we got to you before Magneto did."

Found this amusing definition on Idlechan. It may not be entirely correct, but it's interesting to see someone only partially familiar with furrydom, yet not SA-batshit about it, express their viewpoint:

99% of furry is in the facial features. Most furry art seems to be a humanish body with animal parts (mainly in the face), and often complete fur/skin change. A chick with some light animal-like features added (ie a tail, or ears) isn't quite the same as some chick with a fucking horse face. What is the deciding factor is what you are looking at it FOR. If you're getting off because the girl is cute and happens to have random feature, fine. If you're getting off over the animal features well then enjoy furrydom.
