You know, I met Doug Winger at CF9. He's everything you'd think a pervert would be, expect he isn't. It's very weird. Smokes like a damned rending plant, but otherwise it's a good guy. He freely admits he does some of the stuff he does just to see when people will scream "ENOUGH YOU STICK BASTARD!" but people keep coming back for more and he seems to just enjoy seeing how far he can go.

When I first came across some of Doug Winger's art, I assumed that he did his titanic-tits-and-ditto-cock pics for a lark; they're just so over the top. The only thing that could indicate a pruirient interest in this sort of material on Winger's part is the fact that he draws so much of it. Then again, many cartoonists are perfectly happy with drawing the same type of jokes over and over again, and I certainly have a hard time seeing his more wigged-out pics as anything other than parodies of furry wank material.

Maybe Winger's just an example of the development towards ever greater extremes furrydumb inspires in its artists and fanboys. If you check Winger's VCL archive, you'll see that his very early pics are fairly low-key, just some nude anthro figures and a few porn pics with "normal" sex - and then, as time passes, more and more extreme ideas begin to pop up, and more and more of them. But I still think he's snickering when he draws stuff like this (NSFW).

Winger's never sat too bad with me, because it's also always struck me more as a joke than "OMG THIS IS HAWT!" Part of the evidence for that is that most of his more extreme pictures are centered around some kind of play on words or some kind of visual gag. That's not to say he doesn't get of on those things in some way, but, it's really more like if you took a caricature artist and had him focus on drawing some of furrydom's freakier stuff. I dunno.. I just don't get the sense that he does the pictures with the intention of spaking his monkey to it once the image is done... though I'm sure he's aware many furries do. The big gaps you can see in the time frames where he uploads also demonstrates that he doesn't do these perpetually. Despite his high image count, he doesn't crank this stuff out on a daily basis like NightKrawler (now NachT) or some other of your shittier artists that flood the uploads. And, honestly, I can tolerate the hypermacroherm joke porn better than all of the "OMG LIFE IS SO CRUEL AND LOOK MY CHARACTER IS A CUTTER AND I WEEP BLOOD FROM MY EYE OF RA!"

Personally, I don't care much for his linework. It's not bad, but it's sketchy, kind of wobbly, and very flat. It's not his forte. But, regardless of the content, I have to give him credit for his skill at digital coloring.

Well hell ya, at least with Winger's stuff you can tell it was done by a mature adult. That "dark" angsty shit is just retarded, I mean, it could be done right, but for that to happen it most likely would have to be done by somebody who's not all "dark" and angsty and enthralled by their own supposed misery. And the poetry, god help us

(also, too bad Doug didn't stop with the giant tits, I liked some of his earlier stuff, heh the squirrelies, but I don't wanna see no GIANT HORSE SCHLONG on some top-heavy mink slut! ya, I also think maybe part of his motivation is to do Xtreme for Xtreme's sake)

"Hmm." I've cooled off to the claims of Doug being a 'objective and detached' spooge lord-- there's been several postings in recent years to f.a.e that indicate he's playing for attention amoung the clique he's apart of.

of all the "sickos of furry" I've met, doug seemed to be the most laid back of them all - at least in person. Maybe his art is crazy, but if you met the guy, he's pretty much your standard skinny guy in jeans. nothing struck me as horribly odd about him other than the facts that other people have told me about him.
