To what degree do you feel Hugh Hefner has influenced the Furry "subculture"? |

Virtually none whatsoever. Playboy uses the bunny logo which is just that, a logo. The cuffs, ears, and tail were only meant as cutesy bullshit, and it has done well for years.
However, Hustler (Canada, I think) has recently taken to having a beaver anthro introduce some of their articles and whatnot - which I'm sure has done more damage to both sides (porn freaks and furry porn freaks). I have no concrete evidence or otherwise - and have only seen second or third quality scans - however.. |

I don't think Playboy has played up the bunny logo, charactor, or even the bunnies up since really the mid-70s, so I wouldn't say much recent influence. I'd say Warner Brothers and Disney each are hundreds of times more responsible for the freak factor of the furry fandom. |

Hugh Hefner had no influence on furry at any time. If he had, the fandom would be majority decent upstanding people who make a suit look good, are popular with the babes, and know how to make a mean martini.
Now middle America recreation on the other hand... Well, if you know someone with a bar in their semi-finished basement rec room, that was probably due to a combination of Hefner and the Rat Pack. That whole 50s cosmopolitan swinging party with drinking thing. Everyone was going to be a host of a really good party, wear tuxedos or evening gowns, and be hip.
Thankfully, furry has had no impact on American recreation except perhaps to cause people to check while making reservations to make sure no furry cons are being held within two light years of their chosen hotel much less in it. |

Right. Lets blame Walt Disney.
I know I do. AND Warner Bros. AND the rest AND of course, lax parenting.
