Sorry for being a stupid newbie, but I was just curious if anyone knows the exact origin and the history behind of the expression "gay from yiff"?

Also: anyone ever got the idea of writng a CYD dictionary?

God DAMN! Well, that site sure saved me from a boring Christmas Day evening. What really cracked me up more than anything else was the KAK qoute "Foreskins rule!".

Hell, and I in my innocence thought Ted Nomura and Gonterman were bad. KAK makes Gonterman look like f'in JRR Tolkien in comparison.

Everything about KAK scares me and the Gay from Yiff picture seals the deal.

What I would like to know is who came up with the stupid word "YIFF" in the first place. When I first found out about furry I though, okay, there are like genre specific words that are used, sorta like in Sci Fi novels or movies where they try coming up with specific words or terms the alien creatures us.

But the more I'm directly or indirectly involved in this, the dumber the sound of the word becomes (Furry is pretty stupid to, but I'm starting to see that used in mainstream stuff too, even in Sonic the comic they refer to all the animal humanoids as furries).

So, where did that word originate. It can't be that old.

Several. Consider it a cornocopia of anti-Kimmuga statements, such as the big tits, crotches (couches), anti-Christian belief by the cross, etc, etc.. AND USING HER OWN CANIDESQUE AVATAR!

I was asked to relay this... =)

Behold... So saith the Bulletin Board of the Cafe Rose, of FurryMuck!

The person who programmed the server furrymuck runs on, invented the word as part of a fox language.
But the word was not sexual. Another person added his own sexual word to the fox language, called 'yipp'.
In 1995 or later, a wizard from another muck started promoting the heck out of 'yiff' as a sexual word
on his own muck of furtoonia, and kept saying it and using it sexually.
It is thought that he might've seen the post in the Cafe Rose and gotten the words
mixed up.

The legend also has it that....

Revar was annoyed about the change to 'yiff' to the extent that Revar, on April Fool's Day one year,
caused each time someone used the word 'yiff' to come out as 'smurf'.

You can see Revar's own words about "yiff" at everything2.com:

Speaking as the person who, in ancient days of yore, played the terrifyingly cute character littlefox (all lowercase!), I have to say that the accounts given above aren't quite correct.

The original foxish language definition was as follows:

The basic sounds are Yerf, Yip, Yarf, Yaff, Yiff, Growf, and Growlf. The general order of sounds from positive (happy, good, greeting) through neutral to negative (mad, unhappy, no), are: Yiff, Yip, Yerf (positive), Yaff, Yarf (neutral), Growf, and Growlf (negative). Murphle (a sound popularized by some other characters at the time) is a sound of contentment. The basic sound, if modified by an -le suffix, is less absolute, less emphatic. ie: Yiffle is less emphatic than Yiff. There are a couple of words that have somewhat general meaning, though the entire language is rather overloaded. Yerf's are generally used in greetings, though exuberant greetings are Yiffs. Growf means no, and a Yiff means a yes. (an example of the overloading of the language.) There is one term that got defined by someone who shall remain nameless: Yipp is generally considered not polite, as it is basically a sexual proposition.

Later on, some wolves redefined Yiff to more or less take the place of Yipp, as a generic term for sex. It soon became a noun, a verb, an adjective, and about as many other parts of speech as smurf. Oh, and yes, I'm aware that foxes have never made half the sounds listed above. They were cute sounding at the time (about ten years ago). That was reason enough.

I've also heard "Young Incredibly Fuckable Fox" (or "Furry"), which is about equally retarded.

Isn't that always reason enough for anything having to do with the fandom?

You know, I live out in the country and I have a tendancy to take long walks around in the early morning and I've been seeing a lot of foxes running around lately. It never occurred to me to try to speak to them in their own language. Usually I'm just like HEY FOX WHATS UP and the fox is like RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN ACROSS THE ROAD. I'll keep this in mind.

When I see foxies crossing the road, I could try this newfound language on them.. but, I'll just stick with my original inclination to step on the gas.

Especially if said foxies are walking upright.

That is stupid enough to induce a nosebleed. What the hell purpose would this serve? "They were cute sounding at the time"? How about ridiculous to the point that other people will think you're a retard for using such "language"? Oh, wait, that would be the "mundanes" "fursecuting"... The more I learn about the workings of furry, the more idiotic it seems.

Okay, I had "Blörf" figured out pretty much, though the others I wasn't getting. I'm going to clip and save this guide for future reference.

BTW; what would "SQUEEEL" mean?

What the hell is wrong with you ppl!

I read this and couldn't read anymore...

"What I would like to know is who came up with the stupid word "YIFF" in the first place. Hmmm, I can't criticize him as a whole in this instance. His post was high up there on the furr'tard'o'meter in the first sentence
What the hell is wrong with you ppl!

He has alienated anything he would have to say for the rest of the post in the first sentence, while showing his tard pride with the use of "ppl" in a forum where one has as much time as one would like to polish their ideas. He then follows up by openly claiming to have not read everything posted in this thread, yet seemed up to the task of criticizing this site on the whole. He continues with quoting someone without the use of the quote tags, while including plenty of crap completely unrelated to what he had to say, perhaps to make his post seem larger. Following that he refers us to one of the spoogeholes of furrydumb asking us to interact with people involved with it for some ungodly reason. Just when I had thought he reached the peak of stupidity, the internet-gauntlets fly off with this brutal assault:
STFU Ass Cheese!
Then with his last quasi-coherent idea, he seemingly makes the most common furry-mistake about CYD yet can't fully express the present ignorance he holds.
Where am I, I see CRUSH YIFF DESTROY but I feel no crush, yiff destroy!

Just when I thought he was done making an ass out of himself, he finishes with a signature of some sort.
YC YC YC YC YC YC YC
I have no idea what YC means, but he was internet-serious about making us know he can press two letters on the keyboard that are so very distant from each other. All-in-all I give his post a 4/10 for effort.

I give it, a 2.

On the positive side, it was funny. It was written in english. And, considering the near incoherent things he said, I think he's foreign.

On the negative side, well, pretty much everything SquareMoogle said.

I'm sorry, kids, but I'm afraid you can't keep Leatherwolf no matter how cute and cuddly he is. So I'll just take him out behind the woodshed and say "Bye bye". Yes, that's right, I'll let him go and he'll go live in the woods with all the other wolfies, sure he will. No, no, this shotgun is just in case we get attacked by pirates while crossing the backyard.

I am saddened that I was aware of 2 of those sites.

Also I don't think many people will decide to hear your music after you attempt to make everybody here embrace the wonderous world of hermaphrodite foxes in diapers.
