Post subject: Card game to feature furries? |
|
|
Apparently so. It seems Goodman Games is going to release a series of decks for a card game called "Geek Wars".
Here's an excerpt from the game description at http://www.goodman-games.com/8001preview.php
What is Geek Wars?
Geek Wars is a hilarious line of card games that chronicles the battles of geekdom. Each Geek Wars deck is based on a different kind of gaming geek: the role playing gamers, the tabletop wargamers, the collectible card gamers, the LARPers, those people who wear furry costumes, and so on.
Regardless of which geek is profiled, every Geek Wars deck is compatible. You can pit role playing gamers against wargamers, LARPers against furries, or Trekkies against card gamers! Each deck has its own unique set of cards, with special abilities, different troops, and funny options not available in other decks.
I'm thinking of getting the "Furry" deck, when it comes out, just so I can lose... On purpose... Every time! |

I would just love to smash a Trekkie with an Anime fan... Then destroy a Furry deck with impunity.
Of course, there has to be some sort of set-up where you could build a CYD deck, where it's practically anti-crazy fur. |

I've never gotten into card games or other such geekery, but I just might be willing to for something like this :)
As a side note, there's an unfounded rumor (which I'm making up and starting right here) that the upcoming Revenge of the Nerds remake will have a furry in it. Pass it on. |

Actually, call me crazy, but I honestly think that if we tried contacting them enough, and presuming "Geek Wars: The Furries" isn't already in the can, so to speak, they might turn to the good folks here at CYD for some "creative consulting"!
I already mentioned youse guys on their message board. :D |

I don't know, I find it hard to browse the SheezyArt recents without hitting an off-color Rouge or Amy Rose pic. They seem to still be quite the trend to me. |

Shit dude, they should just use the furryfan cards in the gallery.
Merlino's card would probably be really rare and desirable and finally banned from tournament play for its game-ending special ability. |

I've always wanted to start a war between the geeks who wear Imperial Stormtrooper armor at cons and the Klingon cosplayers (and not in some card game either). |

While I favor Star Wars over Star Trek, stormtroopers would lose because they can't hit the broad side of a barn unless they're steering a vehicle into it. |

I agree, that would be freaking awesome

Yeah, it probably took a few thousand shots just to kill Luke's parents. Notice the real badasses in the Empire all use swords.
What's sad is they'd be standing there in full body armor wielding blasters and accompanied by Walkers, and STILL get hacked to pieces by Klingons with batleths. The Klingons would take one look at the Storm Troopers firing wildy in all directions like an orgy of dyslexics having spasms and bust out laughing before tossing their disruptors aside and charging in for the kill. The Walkers would be of no use, unless one might trip and fall on a few Klingons; remember, these are the same engines of death and destruction that didn't fair so well against Ewoks
DISCLAIMER: Yes, I know Hirtes meant costumed geeks vs. costumed geeks. That's why I'm foisting all the blame for this post on Zen Zhu for turning it to the realm of fictional universe cock-waving. Or at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
DISCLAIMER Pt. 2: In point of fact, someone who's a WAY bigger geek than me has already figured that the Star Trek universe would get slaughtered in a battle with the Star Wars universe (in which case the SW universe is hung like a Doug Winger pic, while Trek is hung like a gnat). The only caveat would be that Star Wars is really sci-fantasy, while Star Trek is considerably bound by the physics of sci-'reality'. |

I always wondered why Illuminati didn't have a Furries card, since it does have Trekkies, Trading Card Games, Wargamers, Science Fiction Fans, Gay Activists, Goldfish Fanciers... |

Did you guys ever see that episode of Conan O'Brein where they brought Triumph to the one of the opening days of one of those star wars movies?
.. they had a guy doing a perfect Spock jump out of the van at the end and walk slowly along the crowd giving them the finger.
funny as hell
Id personally like to see anime and furry get into it more. They kinda already are on the anime side. The prob is at least half of furries are anime fans also... which is why the time is just right for furries to start using thier "con infestation" special ability with greater frequency and purpose.

The only card game I ever played was Magic... tho Illuminati and also that Cthulu one interested me.
..No idea how the play of this 'Geek Wars' game is , but still, I think the 'furry' deck should be kind of akin to the black deck in magic - Like the deck tends to do a lot of damage real quick, but hurt you at the same time. Cards that damage everone. Troop cards, that if you play them, they are totally out of your control at that point and are just bad for everybody :) |

Dude.. first it's hot links in buns.. now cock waving..........
Are you coming on to me?
For the record, I'm a Star Wars man, m'self. But, let's face it.... the Empire lost to teddy bears. |

Sir, I assure you the first was mearly a statement that I was savoring some quality sausages, the second was metaphorical. I don't know how you came about such a lewd notion, but I blame your own deviant mind for its imaginings of my desire to make sweet, sweet mansex with you.
For the record, I'm a Star Wars man, m'self. But, let's face it.... the Empire lost to teddy bears.
Ewoks suck, yet the fiercest warriors are basically really BIG long haired teddy bears; a Wookie could beat a Klingon any day.
Though I'm pretty neutral either way I tend to lean towards Star Trek, if only because there's just so much more actual film material from it and a bit less mass-marketed paraphernalia. Trek toothbrushes? I think not. And unlike George Lucas, Gene Roddenberry never went batshit insane or lose his creative edge. |

I received this e-mail this morning!
Hi EDITED,
Thanks for the enthusiasm. =) It sounds like you'll be a fountain of ideas!
We have several other decks in line ahead of furries, but when we get to
them, we'll probably post something on our forums asking for input. I saw
you already posted there, so that's the right place to start.
You can download the rules to Geek Wars here:
http://www.goodmangames.com/8001preview.php
There's also a mailing list if you have any questions:
http://www.goodmangames.com/freematerial.php
Hope that helps!
Thanks,
Joseph

One recent tidbit I came across (still filed as "rumor" till I read something more concrete) was that Rick Bergman shitcanned from Paramount (and it's ST francise) and have been replaced with J. Michael (Babylon 5) Stryzynski Which is kind of sweet irony since Bergman ripped off JMS.'s concept for a story involving a space station and it's role in an imminent galactic war.
Too bad all Lucas can give us is Jar Jar Binks, eh? |

Not here. Poland's skunkfuckers actually HATE anime, or at least these few survivor true furries - we outnumber them like, I don't know, 1 to 1,000? And this counting only a self-aware fans.
There are some pople who you said are "not furry" (like these chicks on this photo I posted), some reformed furries (like a guy who dropped this shit for a nature/architecture photography) - and a few remaining crazies, like 10 or something... including at least one of them being a self-declared schisophrenic. And they're, of course, a laughing stock of all the other nerds around. |
