Post subject: Why Anti-Furry? |
|
|
Apologies if this has been posted. An old article I haven't found referenced here:
http://www.livejournal.com/users/rhjunior/2003/12/19/
Here we've a pretty logical explanation as to why such a huge mass of Internet denizens bash furries. It seems to come down to STOP RAPING MY CHILDHOOD and bitter ex-furries who focus on tearing up their old fandom. Also mentions the lifestylers and dog fuckers who've been under the furry 'tent' for so long as a source of trouble.
It contains a well worded piece on why the fandom as a whole has historically been so fucked up and why it makes such an obvious target to ridicule, though that part's nothing we haven't seen already. But the rest looks like a 'anime and Trek is just are fucked up, go insult them instead' sort of diversion. Like I just picked out the most childish subculture to insult to make myself feel superior. Like I'd be trolling anime forums if I hadn't grown up to 'Looney Tunes' or classic Disney.
The author links CYD, but misses the 'trainwreck' explanation. The author misses a lot of explanations. But anti-furry is about as varied as furry, and there's a lot of anti-furry to explain. |

You know, I looked at that and thought, "Interesting." Then I clicked upward and looked at the rest of his journal.
Dear God, this man is insane. I didn't think you could get worse than LGF and Freep, but this guy manages to. I couldn't stomach it. |

Furries are so easily made fun of.
Like the fat kid who cried when you called them a lardass.
I'm both a furry and a lardass, I should know. |

The answer to his question should be obvious, it's because furries are the only ones who try to claim they are normal or who shove their weird fetishes in other people's faces and get upset when the reaction isn't positive.
Most people don't care if you like to fantasise about screwing Shippo the 5 year oldesque kitsune from Inuyasha, they just don't want to have it shoved in their faces and then face being called 'narrow-minded' for saying they don't see how that is sexy.
The furry fandom is the only one I notice that gets so damn defensive if you don't immediately think some of the weirdest shit they spew out is hot, whereas at least the anime and star trek fandom have enough humour to take the knocks and laugh with you at their own weirdness.
In Summary, the furry fandom is so much fun to 'fursecute' because of the total over-reaction that even the most minor statement provokes, I mean where else can you be banned from a board just for pointing out a minor flaw in someone's artwork and suggesting they fix it? |

(Trying to use short lines here so you don't have to scroll for a mile sideways to read (versus a mile vertically for my usual posts).
I think DA nailed it. People don't find furries sporting to poke at because of what they are from the onset, but how they react to your reactions.
SF and anime have their little fucked up bits. Anime can be more closely compared to furrydom, since SF slash is a little more obscure than hentai.
But, SF and anime recognize those are kinks and fetishes.
They don't lash out with some overblown sense of entitlement when you express a distaste for tentacle rape or Klingon cleavage.
They usually are at least a little self-conscious or embarassed, except maybe the die-hard otaku.
Anime fan: "Dude, I found this awesome picture of Rei from Evangelion as a dickgirl reaming Asuka in the cockpit of an EVA."
You: "Uh, I really didn't need to know that."
Anime fan: "Oh.. er.... sorry.. "
Furry: "Dude, I found this awesome picture of Tails as a quadruple-amputee getting shit on by Sonic while Knuckles jacks off onto them."
You: "Uh, I really didn't need to know that."
Furry: "Why the hell not? I guess you're one of those unenlightened mundanes. Why are you trying to insult my lifestyle? FURSECUTION!"
Two people will have sex in an elevator and, if caught and chased off, know what they've done wrong.
(I mean in the eyes of society... don't have any problem with it m'self. I take the stairs for exercise, anyway.)
Two furries will have cradle-robbing fursuited alleged mansex in an elevator and, if caught and chased off, wonder what's wrong with you.
Likewise, I've never known SF or anime fandom to link themselves so closely to gay pride.
Black, white, straight, gay... it's all good and has no bearing on liking anime or SF.
(Except maybe how much interest you have in Kirk/Spock slash or yaoi.)
But furrydom has pretty strong overtones of furry pride=gay pride.
That leaves the non-furry world wondering how fuzzy cartoon animals have any bearing on one's gender orientation.
Naturally, the furries get pissed off when you ask that question.
SF and anime are fairly certain your taste for Record of Lodoss war has little to do with balls across the nose.
To indulge in a bit of black-and-whiteness here.. let's face it.. normal folks don't pay $1,000 for a picture of a cartoon ringtail sucking himself off.
Different strokes for different folks. But, at least you can admit your quirks.
Or, at the very least, not call people a nazi for not giving you the external validation you crave.
Then there's the sex thing. SF and anime folks may be geeks, but let's face it, people can understand how this:
crammed into a Star Fleet uniform or even this:
can be considered wankable as compared to this:
or this:
If you'd rather jerk it to Fievel Mouse than Ai Kurosawa, yeah, people are going to make fun of you.
Especially if you get pissy and indignant when they do.
In short: IN TEN WORDS OR LESS AND WITHOUT ANY ATTITUDE, TELL ME WHAT MEEKO FROM POCAHONTOS HAS TO DO WITH YOUR PENIS!
Furries are picked on because they make themselves the supreme targets.. not by being what they are, but by insisting it's not only normal, but more enlightened than NOT being that way.
And they like their target status... it gives 'em the drama the crave.
I guess you could say we're performing a public service for 'em. ;) |

It's all part of the geek food chain. SF fans are at the top, anime is near the top, and furry is at the bottom. Also at the bottom is Star Trek scat fan fiction writers. |

Hmm, I'm only three levels down the food chain, thought I'd end up right above furries. :? |
