I was just wondering what people's thoughts are on the new law? I mean, if it'll remain for long or short, and if it's true and stuff.
I haven't watched the news or anything lately so I can only rely on so much -.o

Anyway, I hope people will respond in a kind of detatched manner without bashing on any particular group - I'm just interested on how people think of this on a whole, and how it could impact the future and so on.

Note: The passed law is now banning child pornography from ALL media, whereas previously it was only outlawed in 'real porn'. Now it is also illegal for any minor/underaged/child entity to be represented in a sexual/adult mannerism in drawings, writings, etc etc.

I hope that people will respond well - and try not to think of it sexually. Even if you enjoy this kind of thing, I hope that you will not be against the law just because it bans pictures of badly drawn horny children - think of the Biggah Pictah.

This was mentioned in the Ecchi-Attack forums once, but the post is long lost. Not sure if it passed, or if it isn't a law at all but in fact a court decision. I know little about the situation; links would be appreciated.

Probably not. You do realise that many classic works of literature (in addition to around 10-25% of all anime in existence, but honestly who gives a shit about that) would become illegal as well? I hate kiddyporn shit about as much as the next guy, but law enforcement agencies have enough problems trying to control the flow of actual nasty photos of real kids. Targeting Card Captor Sakura/Tiny Toons/whatthefuckever porn as well would make that job harder when such material, while revolting, is far less damaging to children, especially since IT ISN'T REAL.

i figured id just add my 2 cents here

now, im not defending eric schwartz at all

but when i used to watch this show i think was junior senior year of high school, i never took these characters to be "minors" or at least THAT young, in fact i always kind of figured them to be my own age at the time.

now i was stoned during this period of my life - so my knowledge of the show is kinda hazy, but these characters seemed to be more like 17-18-19 year old high school or immature college students. in fact they went to acme university didnt they ? now i dont know of any elementary, junior high or high school that is called a "university"
the way thier day was structured was similar to college (or at least high school) and i seem to remember most of thier characters lived in thier own homes alone.

i think the title "tiny toons" was just refereing to the fact that this was the "next generation" of looney toons

lets not forget characters like rodney rat , who smoked cigarettes and drove a car, this is obviously someone in thier own age group also

all im trying to say is lets not being throwing wild accusations of pedophilia/child pornography around, because in this particular case i really dont feel that it applies
