The thing to keep in mind with the Amiga scene, is it was the first cheap home computer with decent enough graphics for showing porn.

Computer colummnists often talk about what the "Killer App" was for a particular computer system-- for the Macintosh, it was Pagemaker and Desktop Publishing, and so on. From the people I've known (who were all teenage/young-adult males-- people outside that demographic never bought Amigas in practice) who owned this machine, the killer app was the porn. Of the dozen or so owners I've known personally, 11 out of 12 had vast 200+ floppy collections of R/X-rated IFF images on floppy disk. Of all the Amiga BBSes what were operating in my area, all of them had massive porno archives.

Is the reason for the Amiga scene's blindness to fucked-up wanking material a bit clearer, now?

That's Schwartz's reaction to my theory of his gradual shunning by the Amiga community, and it's vague nature led me to think he was just bullshitting. Turns out he was right and I was wrong; click the link to see what I mean.

Further poking around the Amiga community reveals that most people there still hold him in high/nostalgic regard. He's done mascots for other Amiga software projects (not JUST that Mozilla port project), people still call their hard drive partitions "Amy and "Sabrina", etc etc.

I have to wonder- do they really have a clue what this guy has really been up to for the past seven years? Do they even know he's a furry and what he's part of? Do they think that the "well-endowed animal character" thing is just a big ironic joke on his part?

I can't help but think that the poor bastards who're trying to make an incentive for someone to attempt to port Netscape to their hip-hop operating system just smattered their page with a furry pinup without fully realising it. Do they not know what a great deal of the rest of the internet world knows about that sort of thing?

Fun fact- I've never actually seen one of these machines or used one in real life until very, very recently when I fished one out of a curbside dumpster and found another at a garage sale. It's funny, because I've been looking for various pieces of old computer crap (including Amigas) for years, but have only started finding these machines very recently. Hardly anyone ever bought them, and far fewer want to give/throw them away.

Fair enough. If you don't want to recount everything he's done, could you give us an example of something particularly egregious? Or at least something representative? I ask only because I think most of us here are at least a little annoyed at him because of a) his "I can draw porn of your characters but you can't draw porn of mine" attitude or b) the slow deterioration of Sabrina into a personal wank fantasy, but you seem to have had a more personal experience with the Schwartz. Perhaps I'm dense and his other crimes are common knowledge and I'm just too new to this whole scene to know of them yet, but I figured I'd ask. Since that's how you learn stuff. By asking.
