For flash, the quality is rather good. The story, of course, is inane as possible, and check out this line of 'stars':

NANCY FUCKING KERRIGAN? WHAT THE DEUCE!!?!??!!/11!11

I'm really sad to see how far James Woods has dropped since NYPD Blue. I thought that was bad enough.. SANDRA BURNHEART. THE ONLY CHICK MORE MASCULINE THAN ROCKY! She's sure to be a tree, er, treat.

Watch the trailer...not just the Press Kit! =)
Looks complitely different! Backgrounds and colors look okay.. but the characters look like crappy fur art.. Movement is odd and faces weird...

Ah well. Who am I to judge, with not even a 6 minute film of my own finished! =)

It seriously looks lame. Brooke Shields character seems okay, and I'll probably do porn of her, but the rest of it just looks creepy. I'm also not too crazy about the cheap looking animation, or the main character (I'm assuming it's the rabbit on the site).

I'm reminded too much of all the otter on bear tail snuggling, belly rubbing, G-rated but with an undercurrent of raging gay kind of furry art. I just don't get it. It's just... gay. Really really gay. I mean, just fuck already before you sicken us any more with all your scritching and shit.

The highlight probably is Sandra Burnhard, I should remind you. She's always a treat, and as a fat butch chicken lady how can she go wrong?

I think they've tried to go for a semi-naive children's book look of sorts. But yeah, the actual animation isn't very good.

Ah well. Who am I to judge, with not even a 6 minute film of my own finished! =)

What's better - a finished piece of crap or an unfinished masterpiece?

(don't answer that)

Brooke Shields character seems okay, and I'll probably do porn of her

Thank you for that vital piece of information. Ugh.

Hey, why am I the wordy one?? Oh.. right.

I had a choice between viewing this at work without sound, and having to download if via dialup. I opted for using my high speed connection at work, so I can't comment on the sound. Maybe it's the fact that my work computer has all of the processing power of a TRS-80, but the characters in the QuickTime trailer look kind of odd. Aside from looking like your average crappy furry designs, it looks like they opted to digitally animate them over rendered models. At the very least, it looks like they went with poorly-executed digital coloring, which looks more like an assortment of gradient fills than anything else. If you look at the way the shading falls on the rabbit in the picture Rankin posted, it does look rather sectional..... like the character appears two-dimensional, but is shaded like a three-dimensional model. I'm guessing it is basically something like a 2D map over a rendered character, kind of like a more sophistocated version of what they did for the Sly Cooper games. Some of the characters walking down the sidewalks on the trailer are obviously 3D renders.

The character designs look almost like something Gonterman would draw. Horrible Harriet Hare porn, Skunkfuckers?? I think you could set your sights a little higher than that. At least Lola Bunny was well designed. This Harriet Hare looks about as rigid and has all of the sex appeal of a melted chocolate bunny with Gonterman eyes. I'm hoping any porn you do of her will be for slash purposes and comedic value, not wank material. The older rabbit with the cockeyed ear looks like something one of the 450lb. furries would use to depict themselves as something cute and fluffy but sage and charmingly befuddled... and like about 300 other characters in animated movies fitting that niche.

Overall, it looks like they're going for a look similar to what I consider "European" animation, with the rich backgrounds that are almost art in themselves and character designs that look like something out of Wind in the Willows or Beatrix Potter works. One one hand, these characters can be charmingly cute without having to endure inspid designs that Don Bluth can be known for, like roosters sporting pompadours and tufted penguins that look more like something from Dave Hopkins' Jack. When well-done, these kinds of character desings really do capture the look of something you'd expect to see illustrating books by C.S. Lewis or the aforementioned Wind in the Willows.

On the other hand, this kind of character design can be downright ugly. IMO, this is the case here. I don't mean a character has to be jiggling around like Jessica Rabbit or something, but there's a fine line between something looking like classical storybook illustration and just plain goofy design. Some of the line work I saw in the trailer left the land of not-all-animated-characters-have-to-be-marketably-cute "European" animation design and crossed over into I-don't-know-how-to-hold-a-pencil country. I'd have to see something on TV, rather than in a QuickTime file, bit I'm kind of thinking the 2D mask I'm suspicious of has some line work, like the line on the front ridge of the rooster's beak (the one that kind of says.. here's the left side.. here's the right side) put into a skin that is wrapped over the 3D model.

The Easter Egg Escapade is sure to please pre-teen children and their parents. Moms and dads will appreciate the wholesome and uplifting message of the film, though parents should note some scenes may be a bit too scary for very young children. Fans of animation will also enjoy the film, for its classic animation style and rich folkloric storytelling style are reminiscent of the golden age of film animation.

Some of the parts that might be to scary include the character designs.

Mr. Williams made The Easter Egg Escapade an international project when he enlisted Polish and Eastern European animators to animate the movie. The Czech Republic National Symphony Orchestra provided a dramatic musical backdrop for the film with a mysterious, intriguing, and romantic musical score.

Okay, well, that explains the look.

In the middle of the night in EggTown, a mysterious figure sneaks into a bakery shop to steal some pastries. He is chased out, thanks in large part to the keen eye of Good Gracious Grasshopper, but not before his cloak is marked with some desert-like evidence. The thief is Terrible Timothy Take-It, and he scurries to his mother’s home. Timothy’s mother, Tiny Tessie, is asleep. He loves his mother and deep down yearns to be good, but circumstance has led Timothy down a slippery slope to mischief. He leaves the cloak behind, and the next day, wearing that same garment, Tessie wanders into the village to do her shopping. Seeing the evidence on Tessie’s cloak, the townsfolk believe she is the thief.

Coming to her rescue is Horrible Harriet Hare, a smart, lonely and occasionally over-bearing, schoolteacher. She convinces the townsfolk that Tiny Tessie, a frail, old hen, could not have been responsible for the break-in.

The incident is forgotten, and the town prepares for its biggest day of the year, Egg Day. Egg Day is the day every Easter egg in the world is manufactured. Horrible Harriet Hare also prepares for the big day: each year, on Egg Day, she has a picnic with the school’s headmaster, Big Boring Benedict Bunny. Benedict and Harriet love each other, but they can never find the courage to express their feelings to one another. They are embarrassed by their nicknames,

Terrible Timothy Take-it? Horrible Harriet Hare? Boring Benedict Bunny? AUUGH! Even in a children's book, you can only take alliteration so far before it's just ham-fisted and overused. Everything in there seems to use allteration. And, for the record, Good Gracious Grasshopper sounds like a drink at T.G.I. Friday's. Also, the press releases can't seem to decide how to spell Take-It.. Take-it... Takit... whatever. And they end that last sentence with a comma. I'm not sure if that's just at typo, or if they meant to write more and never did. Either way, I'm not impressed by press releases that are poorly written... as if I needed to be less-inclinded to see the movie.

I wanted to tell a story for children that would help them think about some important issues while entertaining them at the same time. However, this story is not meant to preach; it is a tale where nothing and no one is as it seems. Untapped potential is the main theme I wanted to communicate…that anyone has the ability to overcome their flaws and be the best they can be.

Take a lesson from Filmation greats like He-Man, Ghostbusters (not The Real Ghostbusters) and other such cartoons...... no animated show or movie centered around a message has ever succeeded in being truly entertaining.

I also wanted to convey the notion that people can and should be loved despite their imperfections.

Don't tell the furries this.... or there'll be The Easter Egg Escapade 2: Why We Should Be Accepting of Doggiehumpers and Ovipositor Fetishes.

I'm sure in reality it's probably a very charming film, particularly with the accolades it's getting from various film communities. But, at first glance, it looks dubious. At the very least, you couldn't pay me to see this movie just from the sheer adversity I have to it's design alone.

Now that is downright weird-looking. It's like they're trying to do it children's book style. Watching the trailer and looking at the synopsis I can't tell if this movie is supposed to be taken seriously or if it's a huge parody of these kinds of movies.

No. Noone needs to see my porn, that's why it's on VCL. It's right where it needs to stay. and I don't mention it all the time... where'd you get that idea?

Anyway, I need my own site as they don't allow fanart on VCL. I've actually been meaning to ask Donotsue how he went about getting space on Furnation.

Don't be coy. Seeing as there is no "Skunkfuckers Inc." on VCL, how about a link to all this derangedness, so we can comment on your artistry?

(Oddly enough there aren't anyone at all on VCL with the word "skunk" in their alias, whereas there are at least 14 dragons and too many foxes to count.)

I'm almost halfway through a marathon of Red Dwarf, so right now in my head I'm hearing all of your posts in the voices of Lister, Rimmer and others. Did you know the US version was going to have Terry Farrell (later as Jadzia Dax on Star Trek: DS9) as a female version of Cat? She was to be very feline and decidedly sex crazed. It would have been wonderful.

You all just want to squeeze me dry for my lol juices. My art is.. my life, the only thing that keeps me from slitting my wrists and killing my parents and, uh, some other angsty stuff. If it were to be ridiculed or laughed at, even the stuff that's undeniably weird or even meant to be funny, or even if you guys thought it was "okay" or even "hey, that's some great art", I'd still be devastated because YUO'RE ALL EBIL CYD FELLONS!!!!11!

And you want me to reveal my SAECRET identity? No smeggin way. I can hear Ebony Leopard right now going "yeasss... tell us, tell us alllll...". Not unless I get to do an art trade with the Shon-man himself, buddy. And he sends me some free comics and stuff, like he offered before. Of course I'll have to give my RL name and address, which I'll do. For the free stuff of course.

Anyway, my art isn't that good. DA's is probably better overall, and I've only got a few porn pics to speak of, which are fairly normal or at least done with a sense of irony...

Okay, okay.. what the fuck, I was going to anyway. You're all going to love it when you find out I'm merely another facet of Michael Hirtes fractured psyche, because: I'm Foxtah Lightspeed, babeh! Sadly my most awesome VCL posts were deleted in the last forum clean out, but there were some ones that were pure genius, let me tell you.

No. EWS is TDK.

I am a bit disappointed as well. I figured our resident homo-smartass was at least someone - hell, more people know who JJcoolJ is than ol' Skunkfucker.

Why do you think EWS hates you so much, Donny? The thin squirrel who breaks off his oppressive "Don't draw my grrrls sexy - only I can do that" dogma... and you won't sleep with him, either.

It's FUCKING HORRIBLE. Everything is nearly 1 for 1, except retarded and annoying American actors. You know that annoying guy from Mad TV? Well the guy who plays Brent...

It's so pitiful - I actually considered killing the person who gave it to me. It's long gone, however.

I know that! I was just wondering what you'd call that move. I was thinking it's the "come round back and sniff my cooter" dance, but that may just be my interpretation.

This is what you get for being ghey for Finnish squirrels.

My love is pure and chaste, you horrible ass. How DARE you suggest that just because I'm not afraid to show my tender affection for a certain bushy tailed forum fluff stud (and to a lesser extent, Rankin), that I'm gay in the stinkhole for furry boys. Dude, you're sick.

anyone know what Zen Zhu's species is?

Chocobo? Hay, according to EGM, Final Fantasy XII introduces a new species: SeXY RaBBit WOmEn!! And the pics look hot, seriously. The character detail and cinema quality is almost on a FF: Spirits Within level, but with a decidedly anime flavor, and all the bunny girls look like cinnamon colored Halle Berry clones with big ears and comic book physiques.

But, you know.. not like I'm obsessing over something just because it's slightly anthropomorphic or anything.

anyone know what Zen Zhu's species is?

EEBIL HYOOMAN?

How the hell am I supposed to be gay in the stinkhole for a human male?? And an Asian one at that? Be down with that, I'll get the kim chee poopy dick is what.

I don't know, I think the Final Fantasy games are getting way too detailed as of late. I hated the characters in FF10 because their outfits were absolutely insane (along with the fact that, other than Auron, they were just annoying), instead of the usual, "woah, this is weird" that comes hand-in-hand with the series. While it can be cool, I think I'll stick to games that are more like World of Warcraft (playing the beta now, it owns my heart).

I've always been idly curious about the FF games.. but the RPGs just don't draw me in. I played Chrono Cross because I liked the general look of it, and the combat system seemed a little more straightforward than most. But, overall, I just can't get into those kinds of games with the turn-based combat and such.... just let me pound the X button and wail on the guy. None of this choose your spell.. choose the level... choose your attack.. do you have enough points left... oh, crap.. someone got nailed.. better ditch my attack plans and focus on healing them... okay.. back to business.. wait.. what.. again.. dammit.. heal.. heal.. can I attack now.. I think I have all of the paperwork and required signatures......

It's like you have to go through 6 menus just to scratch your ass in those things.... you need H&R Block to prepare your taxes to see if you qualify for enough mana to blow a snot bubble.

The RTS games lost me, too. I tinkered with Warcraft and Starcraft.. they're fun.. but I can't keep track of everything.... attacking, defending, mining, building.. micro-managing everything to keep it going. I get that at work. So, to play those, I basically have to jack the money cheats up and speed up building to keep up with the computer... and I have no hope againt a live opponent.

My gaming choices are pretty limited to the action/adventure games, and even among those I'm selective.. and will come as little surprise. My favorite series is the Tenchu games. The controls are varied, but pretty straightforward once you get the feel of what button does what. Rather than taking on hordes of enemies, I enjoy stealthily moving along, waiting for the right moment to slice some unsuspecting samurai's throat. I'm not fond of just any stealth game, though. Most of them tend to be of the military style action.. like Metal Gear.. which doesn't do a thing for me. Not to stereotype myself, but the feudal Japan setting puts Tenchu far ahead of the modern military ones for me.

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter was fun. It was nice to see Star Wars settings but not playing a Jedi. Blowing stuff away as Jango Fett was enjoyable, since he's a much better character than his candy-ass son Boba, though. Unfortunately, he didn't have a much better survival instinct than ol' Robert A. Fett.

My latest was Jet Li's Rise to Honor... which is probably little surprise. It was nice to play a game that felt like a good chop-socky movie... without bloody aliens or demons or something. That's the one downfall of the Tenchu games.. the gooney demons and ghosts and stuff. Rise to Honor was a very refreshing change for scenarios that stuck to the real world. I'm hoping Red Ninja will be similar... I'm much happier taking out ronin and warlords than goofy ninja demons and zombies.

The only other genre I like on occasion is the horror ones like Fatal Frame and Siren. I'm not so big on the Resident Evil or Silent Hill games, though.

I played a demo of Fatal Frame, and I have to say it's got the spookiest, most evil house this side of something Mark Merlino might live in.

The original Tenchu was to be a futuristic-ninja-action. Beta looked a lot like a late Shinobi/Kunoichi.

You said you're a buddhist. Aren't these demons part of your religion/mythology? Or are they rather shinto? I don't know, I'm asking.

I myself thought the demons to be pretty funny, especially the ones that looked like weak little aliens. I remember going "Ha! One hit will kill this sucker." And BAM, dead.

As far as I know, Buddhism believes there are several realms of existence. Ghosts, humans, a realm of 'jealous gods', a few others and the final. But I'm not sure where demons fall into that. Buddhism mainly deals with internal demons.

I'll shut up now. :)

Just as much as any other religion or mythology. In Christianity, there's angels of varying types, devils, etc. In most other religions, there's the same concepts by one name or another. It also depends on what kind of Buddhism you're talking about. Zen Buddhism has its roots in the same origins as Pure Land Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhism (which is what most people follow), and the like. But, I haven't encountered as much emphasis on gods, goddesses, and otherworldly beings in Zen.

Buddhism in its modern form is just like any other religion.. based on the here and now. After all, while there's plenty of Christian iconography in stores... right down to glow-in-the-dark angels you can put on your computer to "protect" it from viruses.. it's not like people in this day in age really think there are angels everywhere and devils taking on literal form and hovering over your left shoulder, just waiting for you to spill the salt. Buddhism may seem to have a lot of mystique around it since it's not common here in the States.. but it's just like any other religion for the most part. A lot of the superstition with the oni and such is a product of the cultural myths, rather than religious ones. So, the oni ninjas and shikikami in Wrath of Heaven are more a product of Japanese society, culture, and folklore than Buddhism. I was just referring to the origins of the ninja.. at least.. one of the stories surrounding their origins.. as Buddhist mystics developing a way to defend themselves agaisnt the oppression by the samurai class.

The thing with Tenchu and the cultural mysticism is like the difference between Rise to Honor and Shinobi. I recently played Rise to Honor and much preferred beating up gansters and street punks to zombies and demon bats or something. It would be nice to see a game like Tenchu stay rooted in the real world, rather than dipping into a lot of mythos. Tenchu 2 was nice in that respect, in that the "demons" were just ninja in masks. Not that I wish all games were rooted in reality. I enjoy the escapism of Bounty Hunter, Wolverine's Revenge, and such... it'd just be nice to see more reality-based action-adventure games that weren't either military simulations or recreations of Miami Vice.

Come come now, there's plenty of upper class yuppies that either follow Buddhism or claim to be Buddhist as some sort of trend. Many middle class people are either wicca / pagan in the same superficial sense also..... pretty much any religion other than Christianity is seeing a 'trend' which pretty much devalues all of them. Of course I dare say that America can do without the overwhelming Christian influence, so maybe 'tis good? We're seeing so many laws being made to follow Christian beliefs, and now here we have the president actively seeking out to change the document this country was founded on to include a discriminatory law to prevent gays from getting married. As so I've heard before, you can't ban 'gay' marriage because ALL marriages are gay!

This is true. Buddhism has been considered chic lately.. with Richard Gere and Steven Sagal smearing their faces around it. Although, Tibetan Buddhism is the one that's really in fashion. Zen is seen as a bit too rigid or esoteric. My experience with it is that it's simply more grounded and a little less exotic. One hand, you have the imagery and flavor of Tibetan Buddhism that appeals to folks. On the other, you have the perceived starkness of Zen.

The chic adaptations of Buddhism can draw a lot more fashionable stuff from Tibetan Buddhism than it can from Zen, with the exeption of folks dropping names like Alan Watts. It's also very easy to say one is Buddhist without any real commitment to the ideals. If you just try and be a nice guy, you can say you're Buddhist without having to back it up. But, you ultimately have to own up to yourself. A Buddhist that doesn't cultivate their mind and peace through meditation is kind of like a Christian that doesn't go to church. The folks that find Buddhism fashionable find it easy to don its mantle without really holding true to the personal responsibility it entails.

Of course, I'm no poster boy for it.

In my case, though, it's simply the religion that made sense. My own experiences in life let me to believe that Christianity was just one facet of a greater whole.. and that most religions had pretty much the same ideas at their core. Buddhism, however, just presents those ideas in a way that make a lot more sense to me than the Christian perspective. I never denounced the existence of God and embraced the concept of bodhisattvas or anything. The various religions are all kind of like different hiking trails that lead to the top of the same mountain. They're all good.. and have the same destination.. they're just different in some ways. Even folks like Mother Theresa said that however people find their way to that goal is good.. be it through Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Muslim, Wicca, etc.

A good example of this "works for me" concept is heaven vs. reincarnation. When I decided Buddhism was a better practice for me to be a good person than Christianity, did I reject the idea of Heaven and embrace the idea of reincarnation? No. My personal notion is either is just as possible, and there's no telling which is the case.. if either.. until we die. So.. why worry which is right? Try to do what is right in the here and now, and let eternity sort itself out.

So... how'd we get here from Final Fantasy???? Who says video games don't lead to anything constructive? :D

HA! That's great! Never heard of TISM before, but it's love at first listen!

Speaking of anthro themed music videos, check out this video by Grandaddy. Fursuits galore! Well-made, cute-looking fursuits, which proves those people ain't furries.

Bush: 'Ninjas are awesome'

WASHINGTON -- The President took a decisive pro-Ninja stance, Monday, telling the Washington Post that he considers the veiled assassins of Japanese legend to be "awesome," and "way better than Samurai."
