I just saw the promo for this show on Cartoon Network. Judging from that, I think I can safely say that nothing I saw would make sense in any context other than "the pedophile's version of Pokemon."
Seriously. It seems to me that the show is about some teenager who makes "friends" with a little robotic? baby that was sent to him by his father or something, and then there was a suspiciously pokemonesque scene where the baby thing shot lightning at another baby thing that launched ice shards. |

I am proud to say that now that I am within my ripe 20s, that I have turned in cartoons in favor of "Law and Order"... anything post-Animaniacs sucks, anyhow. |

I like cartoons. Less than some people, but mostly because major news networks make me sad to exist, and everything else is either reality TV or boring. Plus, I mostly stick to Adult Swim and South Park. |

I generally watch PopJapan TV, Fujisankei News, Across China, and the Mandarin/Cantonese kung-fu soap operas to see if I can pick out any words. |

They renamed "Konjiki no Gash Bell!!" into "Zatch Bell"..?
Okay.

Isn't that already called "Pokemon"? |

Mmm, I rather liked "Invader Zim" and "Daria." (Wait, does Daria even count? It's not like it was really aimed at kids.) Of course the later epsiodes of Zim sucked but the earlier ones were pretty good . . . though it was basically a better version of"The Pinky and the Brain."
'Course I'm not post-21, so there's room for maturing out of them.
Personally I don't even bother with most daytime cartoons, I'd go for LinkTV or National Geographic over Cartoon Network any day. LinkTV (and NG to a lesser degree) is depressing but at least it's informative, whereas I can actually feel my IQ dropping if I watch, say, "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy." Excluding Adult Swim. And I lost interest in Toonami years ago when it was still called Toonami. |

Seeing this preview for it makes me say "WTF"?!?? every time.
Last time I had a WTF moment, Hamtaro tried to spread it's plague across America.
I have a BAD feeling about this series. |

Actually, they still have Toonami. It's Adult Swim Lite. Judging by the ads, it's fitting Zatch Bell is paired up with stuff like Dragonball GT. |

We saw the creepy baby robot plushy thing commercials last night, and, yes, it was pretty darn creepy. I don't know why, really, the whole thing was just...unsettling. I think it's because with the robo baby is supposed to have big eyes, no expression and be chubby. Instead it looks dead and bloated, yet still moving.
I'm 26 and I still watch cartoons. My husband likes Teen Titans and Justice League. I've loved Tiny Toons and Animaniacs since I was 13 and still watch TT whenever I can catch it on Nick. I think The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy is a very clever, if morbid, little cartoon, too.
I just feel, especially after discovering all this furry stuff, a certain need to hold on to the shows I love rather than let a bunch of drooling pervs in their mother's basements turn it all into wank-material. |

One of the things that has really always stuck in my craw about furrydom is that there is nothing sacred to them except their own characters. There is no show... no character... no animated thing with fur that is so good and wholesome and excellent that furries will say, "You know, this is truly a work of art. Let's consider this hands-off so we don't drag this special thing through the mud."
I was reminded of this yesterday when my wife and I were in the Disney store. If you've ever been in one of the stores that hasn't been remodeled to look like an Old Navy, they typically feature maquettes of characters such as the 101 Dalmations, the ostriches and crocodiles from Fantasia, and the classic Disney characters lining the upper reaches around the ceiling. Among them are the two hobos from Disney's version of Pinocchio. I remember one is a cat... I don't recall if both are. Seeing them, I was reminded of furry porn I have seen featuring them, which led me down a spiraling staircase lined with portraits of furry atrocities I have seen from Aristocats, Wind in the Willows, and even the more recent animations of Redwall by Brian Jacques.
There is nothing furries will not taint for their masturbatory pleasures. Nothing is considered off-limits. In their perpetual zeal to add to their dragon's horde of furry porn, they will bastardize anything and everything good into a furry wankfest committed to paper.
Of course, this is perfectly in keeping with their pornographer's credo, following the general porn industry's example of producing works like Shaving Ryan's Privates, Driving Ms. Daisy Deeper, Bone with the Wind, Blow Momma from the Train, and The Loin King. At least with nonfurry porn, however, Nala is replaced by Asia Carrera, rather than simply drawn as a nonmorphic cartoon lion with a blistering vulva.
But in furrydom, such works as Disney's Robin Hood and The Lion King... unwitting models for the furry grand vision... are not seen as something so wonderfuly utopian and magical in their own right that they are undefiled out of respect for what they represent to furries. They are bound, gagged, and anally raped for the furry fandom until their characters are broken and submissive, ready to strike and pose and perform any sexual act for the furry public's twisted delights.
Because, when it's all said and done, it's not about furry pride, or being in touch with nature, or discovering their inner animal. It's about something they can orgasm to. |

The other hobo is a fox.
EDIT: As in the animal, not sexy. |

The truth is, there's no real love for these characters. The fans do not respect the artistry or passion or skill behind these shows and comics they claim to love. Rather there's a single-minded belief that equates fandom with sexuality. While other cult followings, too, have a small number of pervy followers- in large part people don't become Trekkies primarily to have sex with Spock. Anime fans have their hentai, but the vast majority of fans love the characters and the art. My husband is crazy about Transformers, and in the conventions we've been too I've yet to see a table with Optimus Prime/Bumblebee bondage snuff porn.
It's sad that furry fandom, or rather, anthropamorphic fantasy and art fans, were long ago pushed out of the spotlight by the guy who's website is devoted to the cast of Rescue Rangers being tentacle-butt raped. =( |

I was thinking of making 1500 posts my kind of arbitrary hallmark cutoff point. Right now I'm debating between just going to checking the boards on Friday afternoon when I'm waiting for quitting time to roll around, or just quitting it all together. While I enjoy the fun here, life is a lot better when furries start to fade from memory. For us "ex-furries"... or, rather.. ones who still like anthros but would rather forget the fandom ever existed or the things they've seen in it.. coming here is a bit like picking at an old wound. If you leave it alone, it'll fade away. Pick at it now and then, and it will continue to leave its mark. |

Oh, it's gangrenous by now...
Well, nice to know that you have gotten over the horror and through the atrocity. Your enlightened posts will help guide us, eventually.
In a perfect world, we would all forget the fandumb.
In reality, it's still good for a cheap laugh. |
