Found this through FChan (of all places). It's a campaign presented by the folks responsible for McGruff the Crime Dog designed to protect children from the dangers of teh Internet.

It features a young cartoon cat named "Faux Paw: The Techno Cat" (at first when I read that, I was thinking that Faux Paw was into Daft Punk, Laibach or Darude, but such was not the case) who learns Internet safety the hard way. The animation was done by BYU and based on a story by Jacalyn S. Leavitt (who also does the voice of Faux Paw in the animation).

Kinda cute and somewhat relavent. (That and when the cursor mention other places as being bad and dangerous, my first thoughts went The Atrocity Archive.)

Getting back on topic, when Faux Paux tells her online buddy where to meet her, does it seem to you that she (he?) sounded a bit too eager? Almost with a 'come hither' seductive tone to her voice...

Other than that, I think they would have done better to make the cursor more of a cute mascot type sidekick instead of a Jiminy Cricket codgerly old bastard type. What kid wants their grandpa hanging around with them on the internet?

Damn.. you can almost set your watch by this crap.

Y'know, I know not every furry works this way.. but enough of them do that I think images like this really give you a peek into why furry is what it is today. It's one thing to be a fan of cartoon animals. It's one thing to look at Faux Paws and like the design because it's a cartoon cat. It's one thing to like the Firefox logo for no reason other than it has a fox on it (although, in my book, that's taking a like of animals to a certain extreme, when a mere icon influences your choice of web browser - though I do like Firefox.. I just wish it didn't have a dumb fox icon).

But there's something that must not sit right in the ol' bean to see a brand new cartoon animal - a nonanthro one at that - and immediately want to whip your dick out and start cranking it. Granted, this picture looks like it's more under the kind of slash humor you'd get in Star Trek or something. I seems more like some furry's dumb idea of a joke to make the cat a Winger herm than "OMG- kittee! MUST DRAW PR0N!" Still, it makes you reflect on all of the furry porn that does crop up minutes after the fandom discovers some new title with anthro characters.

When I was a kid, I remember thinking Cheetara from Thundercats was kind of a dish in a badly-drawn Rankin & Bass way. But she was at least human. Never did I ever watch Oliver & Company and sit there thinking "Oh yeah, turn a round kitten... that's what daddy likes to see. Lemme just draw that."

Perhaps Mozilla tailored Firefox with furries in mind?

For me, Firefox is a solid browser with a bunch of features that I really love. Having the fox happens to be the icing on the cake. Although I'm sure it wouldn't have been as popular if they named it something like Potato Bug.

Being a furry, cartoon animals appeal to me. But I cringe at the fact that nothing is sacred in furry for porn. Granted, some cartoon animals seem more fit for adult art given their innate sex appeal (such as Rogue from Sonic the Hedgehog). But others just should not at all. Still, it's amusing to see every last fanboy try to sexualize that which was never meant to sexed and stumble like a lobster running over logs trying.

The ought to be an Internet law that says that whenever a funny animal is introduced, someone will make porn of it shortly thereafter.
