Who'd have thought it possible...

Though after figuring it out for myself, I see now that I had it coming (this is what I was going to put in my email to the site admins):

I haven't posted here in a while, but I'm always on the lookout for good sites for submission to POE, so...

When I stumble across one, the first thing I do is jaunt back here to log in (because I want the credit for the submission, because I'm a whore) and find I can't. I try the password recovery feature, but it says my account has been banned and that I shouldn't try to create another one or I'll get raped by a gang of AIDs infected niggers.

Not wanting my tender ass violated in any ugly way, I opt not to go that route. But I wonder, how/why was I banned when I haven't posted here in...

Though that post was a while back... over a year ago... BUT I'd just made an unrelated post a few weeks ago, and someone must have have seen my screenname (it is kind of awesome), checked my previous posts and see the unfortunete one in question...

Right then, keep up the good work.

Eh.. I could link to the post that probably got me banned, but it's pretty ugly. Look for it if you must but bear in mind it's bad in a 'not even fit for atrocity tourism' way, hovering at a 'bannable from POE' level of real-world evil.

Think rotten.com ugly, but worse than even that.

That's what I figured at first, maybe my IP or something was close enough to get caught in a ban stampede, but I tend to find fault in myself first and foremost then others -or chance itself- second.

I do think that post I made was just a tad over the line for my personal tastes, and wish I hadn't posted it regardless. So naturaly I'll blame my self-perceived indiscretion as the cause of my banning (which to some extent may hint at an underlying emotional flaw in my psyche -a sense that I deserve whatever I get, whatever that may be and for whatever reason).

I really should check with Chet though, just to be sure and clear up any confusion. I've never been banned from anywhere before, so this is a first for me and I'm curious to know...

I've read a lot of posts at POE. I'm generally disgusted by the overflowing testosterone and male posturing. It's like a locker room at high tide. That said, I don't see how posting about your...ahem...net activities is any worse than most of the posts there. And the links you posted are apparently clinical in nature, so... I dunno. I think it's partially due to the fact that SA requires a fee to register an account and people get banned from there more often than they do on POE. Less idiots to polute the already murky pool.

Portal Of Evil's forum system is kinda clunky, but I can't seem to be able to complain about it much as I've been used to it for years and years. As for the quality of posts on the forums, please keep in mind that PoE allows anonymous posting and has done so since day one, so idiots can be difficult to control.

Also keep in mind that if it wasn't for Portal Of Evil, this site wouldn't even exist. The idea for this site came up when people were talking about furry shit so much on PoE that it was interfering with everything else, and so part of the reason this site was founded was to draw some of that talk away and let Portal Of Evil get on with the rest of the internet's crazies.

Didn't really work out that way, as you can see.

Oh, and SomethingAwful's wonderous forums? You're not missing much.

I dunno. I actually enjoy a lot of the posts in their GBS forum.. I love urban exploration, and they have a good urban exploration thread with great pictures about once a week or so. A good percentage of the threads there are pretty interesting and surprisingly well written when I'm just surfing around the web looking to kill time.

They had one thread (with lots of pix) about a rural house that had sat abandoned for something amazing like 50 years after the owner of the house died. All of the contents were completely intact and left the way they were, except for a lot of dust, mold and a little bit of animal-related destruction. I actually saved that thread to my harddrive.

I think their front page articles are pretty forced and unfunny though, personally. And I was pretty pissed off when I realized that the $10 I spent on what I thought gave me access to archives and search features only allowed me to post. Yay. They wanted another $10 for search and ANOTHER $10 for archives, which is pretty weak IMO, but whatever.
