I have a confession to make. I am a member of the fandumb. I have an angsty LJ, and a shitty DevArt account.

With that being said, I am not a troll. I did not come here to undermine anything or to be malicious.

I came here because I was lurking unregistered and well… I agree with the vast majority of the blatantly obvious things said here. I post what I believe (minus some bush-supporting). I want to laugh at the showcase of furry self-destruction as much as the next guy, but I saved $10 by coming here instead of SA. (…that and the average member here seems a fair deal smarter than a typical goon)

I want you to know that I didn’t ‘hide’ who I was because I was afraid of any of you finding out, in fact I emailed The New Meat with my normal email just before I came. I ‘hid’ because, like most furries, I have a social dysfunction of an unknown variety that makes me paranoid of things. You know, things like administrator ‘YoyoFox6969’ banning me from his yiff forum for being a member of TEH FURRY HATE SITE. I guess I just want to have my cheesecake and mock it too.

I just want to poke fun at the drama, the sickness and the stupidity as much as the next guy.

If I get banned for this… Oh well. This is a great website, and serves a great purpose.

I guess admitting I have a fandumb problem is the first step?

Here, here, Angry Puritan. No need to hide such information. Why it's perfectly normal to be a member of the fandumb and be an active member of this site. It shows you have some sense in that angry brain of yours, more than I can say of most furry fans. I commend you. That having been said...

I'm new so I can't say for certain, but I think self examination and the ability to know where to draw the line is more important than non-affiliation completely.

By the way, I imagine posting here's going to get me on quite a few blacklists. When I do I get my standard issue jackboots and anti-Furry armband?

This forum seems to be quite an interesting meld, but when it boils down to it, you have five classes of folks (with their own subbranches, much like furry):

1) Those disgusted with it, but are still (somewhat) active: This is the primary class of folks here; they range from mildly disturbed, to Hirtes.. who is disturbed, but not necessarily with the fandom.

2) Those who are heavy into the fandom, and come here to vent and 'act cool': See the definition to the left.

3) Those who come here to belittle CYD, as they feel CYD are THE GREAT SAYTAN: M any can't stand by without needing something to stick up for - wether the 40' hermvixen they've been banging that we may, or may not have been laughing about, or the concept, that, forbid, you shouldn't fuck your household pets.

4) Drive-By: We've got many of those who have a passing interest, post a little bit of shit, or just lurk.

5) Hate swilling shitmonsters: This is how we're all viewed by some, and yes, at least a few of our posters come here to just lambast furry, because, after all, it's the fetish they are into, but they dislike it, or hold a grudge.

Yeah that sadly sums me up. I make a beeline for these forums evertime I get a warning from this or that administrator for picking on drama queens or dogfuckers.

Actually, now that I've 'come out', I can think of a few more things to share. Namely, I have pictures from AC 04, some of which can be funny.

I'd go with number one. I'm not active in the fandom anymore but rather tend to avoid most of the people who are still strongly affiliated with it (whom I actually hated from the beginning). I've met some really cool people from the fandom, being in contact mostly by phone with them.

It seems like most people here, more often than those totally disgusted by everything furry-ish, have some love for an aspect of the hobby. Generally it's less about "BUNCH OF FUCKING PERVS ALL OF YOU" and more of the "I like X, Y, Z, but fear and loathe those who are into hermaphrodite horse women eating their own poop while giving birth to the Princess Di beanie baby" variety.

<thinks>

I really hope nodody reads that and then posts a link to an actual picture. =)

Please, please, just no more moogles. I don't know what they are, but being some arbitrary RP game char, it is guaranteed to lower your posting ability, and IQ. ;)

Why? They'd just see it as more fuel for their fire. Persecutional delusions are not broken when it is reinforced that one's proclivities are, eh, less than normal.

I'd say I'm #1 with a bit of Paul's #6. I bought the comics.. Genus included.. for a while. I played online (yes, even "that" way). I drew pics. I had a website. I swapped mail and pics with a few noted furry artists of the old school (Smith, Gallacci, etc.). But, I was never "in" the fandom any more than that. Nothing irked me more than when a fanboy, after liking my characters and seeing my pictures, would try and chat me up. It usually went something like this:

FuzzNuts: "Hey, love ur art."
Me: "Thanks."
FuzzNuts: "Got any more online?"
Me: "No, most of my stuff was lost when I switched ISPs and all of the originals were on a computer lost in a fire."
FuzzNuts: "Bummer. When are you gonna put more up?"
Me: "I probably won't. My scanner was lost in the fire too, and I've never bothered to replace it."
FuzzNuts: "They're cheap now. I can send you one."
Me: "Er, thanks, but that's okay. I can get one myself."
FuzzNuts: "You gonna go to CF next month?"
Me: "No, I don't really do cons."
FuzzNuts: "Why not???"
Me: "I'm more of an 'online furry.' Cons just really aren't my thing."
FuzzNuts: "There's a lot of fun people there."
Me: "I'm sure there are, but I just don't like going to cons for anything."
FuzzNuts: "Is it money? I know people that could put you up in their room."
Me: "No, I just don't like to go to cons."
FuzzNuts: "Well, what is it then?"
Me: /ignore FuzzNuts

I object to this entire ranking scheme. There are obviously only four sorts of posters on this site.

1) Sarcastic atrocity tourist goon-types who shy away from the turbulent waters of SA or POE so migrate here to be big fish in a small pond, bringing their "OMG PWNED LOLLERSKATES" goonspeak with them

2) Whiny philosophy majors who hide their penchant for hermaflamingo porn behind armchair psychology, constant debates about the site's mission and whether or not we all totally hate that freaky hermaflamingo porn, and cries of "Not all furries are bad but..."

3) Borderline psychotics rehashing ancient perceived slights by fandom celebrities AGAIN AND AGAIN without ever getting more specific than "They can't handle the truth" style accusations

4) Various combinations of the above three

Doesn't mean I don't love each and every one of you guys. I'm just saying, that's who we are.

edit: Oh, yeah, the rat opwner! I should have figured that from the "Puritan" name. A retard is me.

Not everyone, Lankin-sama.
39 degrees celsius fever and nothing else to do than to watch anime... Hale nochi guu!
Mass-thinking (which was seemingly the bait here) is something people don't really want to identify with, be it hermhasselhofftaurs or just plain John Smith dressed in khaki over there. You see the goths, who think they are really unique snowflakes, but when grouped with other goths become only a faceless mass of pvc, velcro and eye liner, while watching the pedestrians and saying, damn them mundanes, not dressing alike and shit. Dressing alike when playing live with a band is different, it makes a band, not just some guys playing.

What strikes me though is, where does the typical warzone-behavior on internet forums originate from? This heads up all the time, attack when you see a weak point, maim, frag, score points -type of socializing. I've never seen it leading to anything constructive, nor provide anything worth viewing, just pointless chitterchatter. Although I see that the idea of this forum is not to pat people on the back or anything, but what's the point in going from point zero to zero again?

And I don't quite fit into any of those,

While I like anthro work, I'm not a furry.

I may post to 'furry' boards but it doesn't mean I agree or like every damn fetish the fandom comes up with.

To be honest I'm mostly just here for cheap laughs and some of the people who hang out here are pretty cool as well ;)

Though really I'm starting to move away from anthro now, looking more towards sci-fi, fantasy and realism.

Hold still whilst I paint you in all kinds of redilculous colors, kupo. Later, you can carry my chalice, but don't stay too far behind or you'll end up like the last panel in this comic.

I think the point of this thread was 'you're less than normal. Rock on! So are we!' OMG! You'll hate me because I'm furry! I'll be banned! No, you still look sane enough to be cool. Sit down and stop pretending this is the Inquisition. We're all fans, too.

Posers will tell you they dress goth to be unique.
Goths will tell you everything's already been done, and dress goth 'cause it's cool and scary.
And the Manson kids just like being different from the white middle class America that spawned them.

You forget #6: Folks who are relatively new to Furry, and had thought that it was just about what the fandom was ORIGINALLY indended. Using Anthropomorphics in comedy, political satire, and just as characters in general. Folks who didn't know how deep the rabbit-hole went untill coming here. >_<

I still need bleach for my brain from that image of beanies being "born".

(Addendum: I correct myself. Would my entry to the list be #7 or #8? Error left for derision.)

I have seen this, as I love goth music to some extent. Malaise, Terminal Choice, Elusive, european stuff. Some goths dress the way they do just because they feel more comfortable and "themselves" in that clothing. Just one type of people who put much money and time on their looks. What I love to see is a goth girl in a gown and perfect makeup rather than a poser in crappy eyeliner, a cradle of filth (GOD I HATE THAT BAND) tee and a skirt. I don't really know about the mansonites, haven't really seen but one around here. Last I heard of her was that she got jesus-nuts.

Wait, I've never been involved in the furry fandom at all... Which one of those am I? :(

I also wasn't involved very much (and this years ago), never ever been to a fur con or seen a man in a real honest-to-god fursuit, and this is the only "furry" website I lurk whatsoever (and the Nothingkat once a month or so).

I just think of the furries as a source of teh funny and an occasional horror, no more.

I think I'll change my avatar to one of those anime girls. They seem to be all the rage on this forum lately.

All hail anime girl avatars!

Mine's so HOTT.

It looks like if my avatar got it on with the anime babe avatars and they had babies.

UGLY BABIES.

Actually, no, I take that back. It looks like if the anime babe avatars got it on with E.T. and the resulting child got a spot in the next Dragonball series aimed at the shoujo audience.

These... things... are fucking scary. Like fursuits. What the hell is happening to the real actual cosplay? I don't even know if it's a crazy Japanese man or a ham beast.

And where the fuck is ANY furry non-Wolf's Rain anime fanart? Hyper Police? Dakki *Houshin Engi? Dominion Puma sisters? Are they TOO HY00MAN? What about a fucking FURSUITS based on an anime characters, and not on their "fursonas"? I don't know, anime werewolves? There's much of this stuff around. Are they even watching this? I don't know, but they still call themselves a "fandom"... this meaning mostly being a fan of a self, I guess. (I also heard a rumour this Merlino guy started Anthrocon after being evicted from an anime club 20 years ago or so.)

These guys, and I mean furries, are like a real gay masturbation circle... better still, they often fuck each other IRL. Like Compy said, it's a fetish, and not a fandom. And no, I don't really complain. Maybe it's better to make them self-detached from the rest of geeks and isolated - while still avaible for a tourists to laugh of them and/or gasp in horror.

What's interesting is folks on Fchan will bitch of you post something "nonfurry" like an anime nekogirl. On the other side of the fence, you get SAGED big time if you post anything more furry than your average nekogirl on WakaChan or 4Chan. I still kind of like the furry babes, but more and more, if I had to choose between the two, my money's on the anime nekogirl >> Terrie Smith fuzzface. About the furriest thing that diverts my blood flow south anymore is Felicia from Darkstalkers. Cuz, y'know.. naked human babe > naked chick with weird head and smelly fur

BTW, for those that don't know, WakaChan has a neko section.

I also give you Firefox.

And just to enhance the number of cosplay pictures that DON'T suck..

It's not anime cosplay, Zen, it's a "gothic lolita". And Sailor Bubba shaved his beard, got a nasty leg infection, and now is G-man's "mate" (AKA Lil' Marcie Mouse). Pokemon don't count, it was quite obvious, but not what I meant (and I don't think many crazed furries or otherkins think they're pokemons or what not).

Now, some Dakki cosplay:

Yes, another "fox girl"... she's evil kitsune demoness from Houshin Engi (AKA Soul Hunter, which is stupid translation). Anime is short and she dies in the end. Manga is much longer, better, and she won (sort of). And no, she has NO HAIRY FACE, even in her real form... she has some kind of a hairy nipples, however, in one of her outfits. (She's also taken straight from a really old Chinese story of an evil witch-empress.) And yes, she hides her ears under these hats. Quite cute, overally. I think.

Also, my Internet is SLOW AS SHIT... I must to get some real access. Also ALSO, it's quite funny TNM always draws me as a small creature. I'm quite huge IRL, about 2 meters (it's like, I don't know, 8 ft or something?).

GL is not a cosplay, it's a Japanese girls' fashion style.

Some would also say it's "a lifestyle", but I disagree. Goth is a life style, GL is a pure poseur style (it's all about wearing fancy clothes in public and posing for a passerby's, and they don't even listen to the gothic music). And yes, they're walking like this on a streets - and you don't see many people cosplaying on a streets... even in Japan. They also hang out in parks a lot, if you accept "hanging out" means "sitting motionless, dressed like a doll". Overally this is an odd thing, and very Japanese, too.

Back to the Dakki, hers 3-thousand-or-so years old Chinese legend was a base for the Suikoden game, too. (The original story was actually called Suikoden...) In the English version she's called "Wendy", or something. I don't know about the other games in the series, since I played none.

BTW.. this is 1500, guys. But, seeing how it's Thursday evening, I figure I'll see things out until Friday. Since I don't normally get on CYD on the weekends, quittin' time on Friday will make a good breaking point.

Yeah, I kind of hate that. You have some good insights. I would have welcomed the opportunity to discuss them more as they came up. But, I've finished up most of the prep work for my career change. I don't know how long it'll take to get a portfolio together, but in the next few months I may eventually be working somewhere where such casual surfing during work hours could merit some serious trouble. So, I might as well get back in the habit of keeping my nose to the grindstone for 8 hours a day. But, like I said, I figure I might as well see things out until Friday afternoon.

Incidentally, I almost let post 1337 be my last one. L33T, dude.

Or I could be REALLY geeky and push on to post 1701. Har har har.

Godspeed and peace of mind.

I've been having these weird fever dreams, when you watch anime before ya go to sleep you dream about it, the same goes for thinking about a future occasion like saturdays beer run. The dream was though so weird I have to mention it. The series was called mecha bible and several organisations/countries, like the vatican, jesuitas, US of A, Illuminati were searching for a book made by Noa which detailed the ark as a mecha. When finding the book, the "ark" unravels and it can be used as the ultimate destructive weapon.

I also see weirdly detailed dreams, and some I memorize after waking up.

Well fuck, I forgot the OT

Yeah, I think I had you pegged as a furfag when I saw your OMG ironic nick. I'll have to murder you now, because I AM the Real Furry Hater!!!!1!!

Meh. Welcome to the last outpost of real free thought in the furry sphere of influence.

WOW! That...just sorta breaks all tradition...along witha few laws of nature. Specifically the one that says- "Men who look like Sammy Davis Jr. should stay away from female anime cosplay under pain of public embarassment witht he humpty dance."

Whenver I'm really stressed, I dream about zombie attacks. Tons of them coming at me from all sides. But, I'm lucid enough in my dreams that I'm hacking and slashing them like Dante outta Devil May Cry.

That link brings a smile to my face, I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because Card Captor Will at least can dress up like Kinomoto Sakura and have a sense of humor about it which is more than I can say about quite a few furry fans.
