Could anyone explain me what the hell is an irresponsible like Rankin doing with mod privileges in a forum like this? I mean, yeah, okay, some jokes here and there are OK, but this is getting way too idiotic.

So Rankin has a problem with Kadius. Or Kadius has a problem with Rankin. Oh, cool. And Kadius whines. That's OK with me and that's something I can easily ignore.

But, what I don't like so much is seeing how a folk with administration privileges on CYD (ab)uses those very same privileges in behalf of an utterly stupid cause like messing up with one of the users of this forum. And, what is worse, behaves with the same stupidity we have laughed at on furry forums, chats and LJs. With profusion of windows, revealing of private messages and even converting a thread like this one into a school fight. And even more, by using the administration privileges to turn -this- stupid thread into a sticky, to show each and every user coming to this forum that one of the admins of the site is as puerile as furries.

I'm sickened to see this behavior among furries to avoid the threads appearing here about LJ furry drama; but am MUCH more sickened to see it here on CYD, a site that mocks precisely those attitudes and behaviors.

Therefore, I would like to suggest Mitch and Computolio to reconsider the status they have given to Rankin and revoke his admin privileges.

However, you fail to find the humour in utilizing the same techniques - or rather, don't find it funny. However, I graceously accept the complement. I don't like to 'talk down' to my audience. The speculation in this thread is astounding. However, the truth of the matter is: I have become quite bored with CYD. Yes, I've been a bigger ass than usual, for reasons I do not wish to disclose. I was quite tired of Kadius' snippy shit, and I opted to share - after all, we're just one big happy family. Yeah, it was trite, it was tactless: It was a perfect 'Rankin' post.

At any rate, if I wanted to be banned, I could just ask Mitch. I've asked him to kill my modship to silence the braying, and yes, I have made a choice since then to not be so active here. If I have nothing to contribute, why do I bother sticking around? The same method of thought finally convinced me to get rid of my FurryMUCK account so many months ago.

Thanks, however, for the quasi-concern. It's not worth noting, but it was amusing (to me) or about all of ten minutes. That's a thing about furry - if it's not about the sex, it's about the gossip.

No, I'm not. There were some folks who aparrently spent the entire 4 days of the 'extended' convention sitting in front of these beat up old screens with a mouse in front of them.

I think it is sad that the antisocial nature of furry, even when 'surrounded by like minded freaks', are unable to cope. Then, of course, there were the fursuiters, the "OMG YOU ARE A PERSON, I DON'T KNOW YOU. HAVE A HUG" folks... and the pron mastards.

The concept of computers available for use at cons is something I never truly got.

Think about it: a furry con is a gathering of many, many like-minded people. For many of these people, the closest thing to a social life they possess is a Tapestries account and the occassional furmeet at the local mall (in front of the Korean BBQ stand) on weekends. This would make a furry con a chance to at least speak to a lot of other living breathing human beings face to face.

Okay, I can see video games and arcades being appropriate for a furry con as they allow for some social interaction, but to spend one's time at a furry convention plugged into a little box not that much different from the one in their parent's basement typefucking complete strangers just on like any other friday night is a dire sign that one has no sense of priorities.

If I'm going to go to a furry convention, I'm going to attend some clinics, I'm going to see some shows, I'm going to have a chat with some folks, I'm going to bug the hell out of my favorite artist, I'm going to draw in people's books, I'm going to take pictures of people looking rediculous, but I'm sure as hell not going to be wasting my tens of dollars to sit down and do what I could darn well do from the comfort of my own home for free.

People who go to cons just to type-fuck on computers just need to die. They need to be put out of their misery. They need to eat a bullet, open a vein, jump off the top of an office building. Something! Gaaah!

From what I understand, it's very similar at the Everquest conventions. People will pay $250 for a three-day pass, show up, and spend all three days sitting in front of a computer doing the SAME CRAP they could do at home for free.

I mean, I was on holiday to warmer climes a short while back. I COULD have hung out at LAN cafes and spodded on the internet - but fuck that, holidays are for hanging out in the nice weather, sampling exotic liquors (ahem), and taking advantage of the ridiculous exchange rate you get for british pounds right now.

That said, if the average congoer tried doing what I was up to, they probably would have been mistaken for a whale.

Those that still live in their parents' basement, the few who have menial jobs as clerks, cashiers, et al, scrimping and saving - not buying any OMG SUPER LEETOR YIFF for months on end... only to go to a convention to do what they always do: typefuck and make horrid puns at anonymous folks on the internet.

That's what I do at anime cons..

I go, Watch some kewl stuff with my friends, chill and play games with random passerbys, talk, and indulge in being in an environment where I'm more likely to meet someone who KNOWS what the hell I'm talking about..

But Type fucking is totally anonymus unless you REALLY know your networking.

So..

The net rooms I've been in are in small, poorly ventilated hotel rooms or small meeting rooms. Combine that with a room full of the type of people who come to cons only to sit online the whole time (hint: unwashed) and you get a very hot, smelly, stale room. It isn't plesant.

Totally. I love to garden. When I was younger I had a black thumb and killed almost everything I grew, but I'm pretty decent at it now. =)

I'm actually quite good at it. I've got a nice little herb and veggie garden in the back that's doing quite nicely (since the hurricanes destroyed my last one, THANKS A FUCKING LOT, TROPICS)
