Hi guys I thought I'd share a profile from Open Debate with you guys
Philosophy:
I believe that although truth may exist, human beings are incapeable of finding it. I believe that every person living or dead (including myself) is an idiot. I believe that Culture (with a capital "C") is the most powerful determiner of our beliefs, how we see the world, how we see ourselves, and how we feel about how those things "effect" us. I concider myself a communist, a symbolic interactionist, an ethical relativist and a stimuli-machine theorist. I believe that freedom is the key element in causing society to evolve in a healthy way. I believe that the aqiescence of freedom is a key element in giving people contentment and making them kind twoard each other.
I dont believe in the concept of right and wrong, justice, love and hate as emotions, marriage, competition, science, patriotism, and capitalism.
<INFLUENCING BACKGROUND>: I was a christian school kid. Anyone who knows much about that knows christian school kids are forced by their parents into a pretty sheltered life and arent allowed much of a childhood. The reasons most parents send their kids to a christian school is because they want to keep the kids from having any contact with people who arent christians. My parents did a pretty good job of this. I was not allowed to wear blue jeans, or watch sesame street when I was a kid. I sat through five sermons a week at a minimum. Not counting vacation bible schools, christian summer camp, bible class at school, and the sermons we would get from my father at the dinner table.
At the christian school they told us that rock and roll affected your pituitary gland in a way that turned you into a homosexual, that the public school had a big booth in the hallway where they sold heroin. Nothing was neutral, something was either about "God" or it was "evil". Being that I was not exposed to any contrary philosophy, I believed all they said.
They had corporal punishment there and I would get it on a pretty regular basis with a half inch thick paddle that had holes in it to prevent wind resistance for stuff like forgetting to wear a belt to chapel or drawing Bart Simpson in my notebook. One time I had my arms and legs tied to two chairs and was beaten for like twenty minutes by two grown men for not having my shirt tucked in.
At the time I didnt complain much. I didnt know any different. I wasnt allowed to meet anyone who lived what you people would likely call a "normal" upbringing. The environment I just described was what all my friends went through too, so in our small fenced in world this was just how people grew up.
At ninth grade the principal of the christian school (at one time this post was held by norm olson, the founder of the michigan militia) brought me into his office for something and I finally snapped and turned the place upside down, told him I was going to kill him. After I got home after the expulsion there was a similar incident between my father and me, except the roles were reversed. It ended with my mother holding onto his leg while I ran out of the house for my life.
After that because my father felt I was on a one way trip to hell anyway, he wanted nothing to do with me for awhile. I was allowed to go to a public school for the first time.
The only thing I can really relate the experience to would be if you lived in 1890 and were teleported in time to 1990. The exposure to ordinary 1990s america normalized my view of the world and my behavior like a lightswitch being turned on in my head. I still on occasion feel "guilt" when listening to a metallica song or when wearing a pair of blue jeans. Some things are hard to deprogram.
As time passed for me in "normalville" my beliefs kept on evolving. something strange happened, my perspective of the world actually evolved past everyone I knew there too. This being a good five years before I took my first sociology class and heard that beautiful term "symbolic interactionism".I figured out a truth about life that has been a theme of the way I've seen things up till now.
The whole world is like the christian academy, the whole world is being held in a trance of perception and is being enslaved by it. The whole world is victimized by forces it thinks are unnavoidable but are very much not.
Every thing we believe, we believe because it is the best bullshit we have been presented with. We are all slaves to our culture at the given time we live in it. This rules everything we think and everything we do from what we wear to the procedures we take when visiting the bathroom.
<RECOMMENDED FILMS>: American Beauty, Pleasantville, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, Planet of the Apes (w/Heston), Fight Club, American History X, Forrest Gump, Weeds, Lawn Dogs, Pump Up the Volume, and Boys Don't Cry.
Favorite Quotes:
"Some of us are people, some of us are human beings, all of us are idiots. The difference is that human beings understand they are idiots and people don't," -Benjamin S. Duncan
If everyone worshipped themselves, then everyone would be a god," Benjamin S. Duncan
"Choosing to be different is an unforgivable sin in any society," Margarette Mitchelle
" never end war by taking part in one," "Mr. Majagi" the Karate kid
"We're the middle children of history. No great war, no great depression. Our great war is a spiritual war. Our great depression is our lives," -"Fight Club"
"Show me someone who's "normal", and I'll show you someone who's never had a real idea," -Benjamin S. Duncan
"It's just as much a tribute to your character when ignorant people hate you as it is when perceptive people love you." -Benjamin S. Duncan
"The second worst mistake a person can make is to allow himself to think he knows things. The worst is to allow others to convince him they do." -Benjamin S. Duncan
He hasn't really done anything to me on the boards it's just the fact that every post he makes tries to take the nihilist stance of I don't give a damn about anything and I'm so wise. That and he has five quotes from himself which causes my head to want to explode over the assholeness of the guy. |

Great, this guy really is an idiot. He's not wise or nihilistic, it's like a case of "I don't judge you because I'm too self-absorbed to bother with or care about what you do." He's lazy, rather than hold an opinion and weather the criticism that comes against it, he runs for a neutral middle ground where's there's no risk of finding any opposition. The bad, ambigous self-quotes just make my day. There should be site that randomly generates this crap. See mommy? I can do it too!
There are two kinds of people in the world, stupid people and smart people. The stupid people think of themselves as being smart, the smart people know that they themselves are stupid.

blagh. It's too late and I really can't be bothered with this. |

A man is in good physical health when he looks good in drag.

Quite a bloated ego on that guy, I have to say. He thinks he's seen the whole world.
Bleh. I've been through child abuse, someone close killing himself, being beaten up, beating someone up, drug use, almost getting killed along with my family by a madman with an axe, falling in love, being loved, hating, being hated, respecting, being respected, being a small-time celebrity and shit, that's just a small bit of it. I still lack the experience to write anything. So does he, that's why he bloviates. |

The problem with speaking the truth is, the truth falls on dead minds, and you are labeled a pretentious wanker. Wait, no. You're just a pretentious wanker. Ahahahahaha. STFU and go back to hiding in the closet, rubbing your cock with Dadaist artwork. - RailFoxen
Twenty bucks he doesn't know what the fuck Dadaism is. Fifteen says he doesn't realize he's misquoted Margaret Mitchell, and ten says he doesn't know why. |

Most who are quick to dispense philosophy online seldom follow said philosophy in the real world.
Stoneth
I've got more philosophy in my furry porn collection than this guy has in his entire wannabe nihilistic little brain.
Stoneth
Wanna really piss off a furry? Tell him that you think that what he's doing is weird.
Stoneth
I would have added Full Metal Jacket, The Fifth Element, Enter the Dragon, The Mask, Transformers: The Movie, Resident Evil and Mortal Kombat to that list, but that's just me. |

I think I have a saying for this twerp.
Nihilists! I mean, say what you like about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos~The Big Lewbowski
Like I said he's really never done anything to me but every topic where he shows his smug little face just get's ruined by him. It's weird he pretty much hates everything and wants nothing to do with but has to reply it's really annoying. Of course I'm sure I do that to so who's to judge. |

Anyone recommending "Pump Up the Volume" has quite a young and selfish view of life, and the world. I remember when I was twelve, I thought it was the pinnacle of movies: Sex, relations, and standing up for what was right.
At 21, I bought the movie. (it was already a cheap special on DVD. I should have known then.) I tried to watch it. It was the most contrived, self-absorbed bullshit I couldn't sit through. My roommate and I tried real hard to watch it. Even tried to drink to watch it - we had both loved the movie.
Lo and behold, we turned it off at the 28 minute mark, and had a mini-philosophical debate on how stupid we were as kids. I then pawned it off on someone as a gift - just don't return it. They loved it. |
