Associating with this message board may earn me contempt from those whose names has been named here, so I try to keep tabs on why certain furries get blasted. Xydexx for his big mouth and SA bloodlust...Sylfor for his pasty sexpot tendancies...but why Jim Groat? I admit I'm a fan what little work I've seen of his, and from what I know, he's done no crime.

I have nothing against Jim Groat (anyone here is welcome to state otherwise). He doesn't do porn fan art which he claims isn't his and he hasn't stalked any female voice actresses and he isn't open about any bizarre fetish.
The man amuses me, personally. |

Groat's a cool enough guy. He runs a horribly in-jokey webcomic with a small following of people who generally aren't insane, and he sells pretty level art at the cons. As far as I know, he's about the least openly sexual guy on the FurryMUCK, and he's responsible with his guns. And takes enough care of himself to avoid falling into the overweight beardo stereotype.
So... do we hate him? Did I miss the memo? |

Also, where's Groat's being blasted here? I don't see any Groat-hatin' in, say, The New Meat's WCOTP article... that's just comics critique and review. |

| I don't know who the guy is, but he doesn't SOUND hate-able. Besides, it would be wrong to tear into someone arbitrarily. That's what all the little whining mutants accuse us of in the first place. It's the same as pouncing on newbies before they have a chance to embarass themselves... |

| Well, I would guess that Jerry Collins is the one around here that is most interested in hating Groat, judging from the cartoons on the main page. Compared to the other freaklords, Groat just seems like mild eccentric. But - isnīt Groat really, really lazy? And hasnīt he got a crazy wife also? And what about that incident with the Groat kid running around and punching people in the crotch? Please elaborate on these and other reasons why CYD might have some against Groat. |

Seriously, guys, I fail to see how Collins drawing a few caricatures of Groat and Hirtes posting a rant or two (which admittedly seem a bit hateful) about Groat equals CYD hating or even disliking Groat. CYD - Mitch, that is - is not responsible for what Hirtes posts on the forum (or elsewhere!). And I presume the old disclaimer about views expressed in an article or drawing being those of the author, but not necessarily of the publisher/site, also goes for CYD.
But c'mon, everyone post their Groat stories - could be fun!
edit: Silly me, rephrasing what the CYD FAQ says:
Q: Why do you hate furries?
A: Personally, I don't, though I regard some of them as humorless crazies who need to seek professional help. I don't hate him, though I can see how some people would.
In a way, I pity him. Not to where I could bring myself to help him, because I'm all-too-familiar with what a waste of time that is. It's more the type of pity you feel for a rabid dog, where you know it hasn't got a hope, and that the poor creature is too dumb to understand it's own condition.
Either way, I got no time or use for him. |
