Post subject: Swedish question |
|
|
While I was doing a search for Tintin-related stuff, I found a picture that made me shiver when I read its name:
http://www.bonniercarlsen.se/Blandat/Tintin/Tintin-skyltar3.jpg <- yeah, SKYLTAR
Knowing no Swedish at all, and knowing the fandom's reputation to sexualize everything, I expected the worst. Now, when I looked at the picture, I smiled. Looks like I've found the origin of the 'skiltaire' word.
I'm now curious to know what means 'skyltar' in Swedish, and know some posters are Scandinavian... so could somebody enlighten me and tell what 'skyltar' means in Swedish? |

Like Banrai says, "skylt" is Swedish for "sign" as in signboard or signposter; "skyltar" is simply the plural form.

I doubt it... what's the connection between that and Merlino's silly creatures? I think he just made up a word that sounded nice. |

Speaking of Tintin... Miguel, what happened to your Captian Haddock avatar? |

He's resting. Being available 24 hours a day is tiring. :)
Dunno, perhaps I make another avatar later. Perhaps I just leave it blank. Or perhaps I put Haddock back. I'll decide later. |
