They must have used that vampiric hypnosis ability.
An Italian couple stole 50,000 euros from a woman in the Sicilian city of Palermo after convincing her they were vampires who would impregnate her with the son of the Anti-Christ if she did not pay them.
Honestly, life just gives these to you. |

You eat-a this magic pizza, okay, and-a you no gotta worry 'bout that Anti-Christ child-a, okay! Thank you for saving us, but the Pope is in another castle!
In all fairness, it could've come from any backwoods Appalachian Baptist community. And this sort of thing happens every day in Africa. Every single day.*
*I'm sure the Angolan tourism board wouldn't be too keen to report a signifigant fraction of their populace is apparently possessed by demons. |

When I saw 'Vampire Con' in the title, a piece of me wanted to massacre some goths... Then, I read the article.
In order to be pregnant with the son OF the Anti-Christ, would not you have to indeed by fucked by the Anti-Christ himself? And thusly, if AC is on the Earth, all the shit is gonna hit the fan anyway, so why not enjoy the fuck before armageddon? |

I thought the really devout fundies WANT the Antichrist to be born, to hurry along the Rapture? Most likely. I don't see why, but I've never understood their logic before.. |

The lady from Palermo apparently wasn't that devout, then. |

When the Rapture gets here, they all get to go to heaven. The unspoken undertone is that it's physical vindication that they were right all along, and now all you gays, liberals, and unwed mothers are going to suffer in torment down on Earth, nyeah! It's a very frightening mindset. |

To what I've found, the Rapture is a belief held by a sideline sect of Christianity and unsupported by most major denominations. Considering it was invented less than 200 years ago and documented largely in crap movies, that shouldn't be surprising. In short, a theologian (John Darby) saw an issue with the earth being ruled by a new Kingdom of Jews around the Second Coming of Christ. (See 2 Samuel 7:12-13. Christian leadership generally takes David's Kingdom to be the Christian Church, but it seems Darby and his friends disagreed.) So to let the Jews rule the world, he managed to dig up a line in 1 Thessalonians that implied saved non-Jews would go to Heaven. Now, the people who actually know about the Rapture past a few books and movies of fiction are divided - either the Rapture happens first, before the Antichrist and the Second Coming, or it happens after. Either way, the concept is NOT supported by any major Christian denomination.
Officially, by the way, all you have to do is believe in Jesus as Savior and try to do good to get in.
And I really doubt said victim of the con knew anything about anything. For fuck's sake, she believed they were vampires! 'I'm the Antichrist!' 'The what?' 'That means I'm bad! Give me money!' 'Oh snap!' |

As I live here in smoggy southern Califrnia, I'm withen reach of Garden Grove, home of the infamous Prancing Skiltare, and this crowd of rapture spewing televagelest nut jobs. It's all there, End of the World rapture idiocy, Creation Science claims of humans living with dinosuars, Pat " The $700 Sucker Club" Robertson, and more. |

Ha ha ha, oh no. One of their strongholds is right here where I live - the Southern Baptist Convention. They don't call Tennessee the buckle of the Bible Belt for nothing. |
