Apparently, those pedos sure love them some Star Trek:

Wasn't there this species in ST Voyager that grows sexually mature at 7 ?
edit:
I found them. Its the okampa and they turn fertile at 17 months and die with 9 years. Though they look like adults once they mature. Can't be it.

I think I know what attracted them:
Wesley Crusher.

The only thing Wesley ever attracted was a desire to kill him, not people. Well not SANE people, anyway.

Seriously, the idea of anybody actually liking that guy is creepy enough as is, but to be sexually interested? ewwwwwww....

(Although we don't know all that much about pedophilic sexual offenders, one thing we do know is that they have trouble forming authentic adult romantic relationships.)

Sounds like a non-pedo trekkie problem to me. Mystery solved.

The comments are great. One guy's channeling Simpson's Comic Book Guy with quote corrections.

Maybe the columnist who wrote that should run out and buy a copy of Criminal Psychiatry For Dummies. What a bunch of drivel.

I remember reading the article about Det. Gillespie and the Toronto Sex Crimes unit. They came up with the idea of digitally removing a girl in a series of photos and releasing them to the public, in the hopes that people would recognise the locations where the pictures were taken. It turned out to be an extremely successful technique. In the article, he mentioned that a high percentage of those they convicted had a large interest in Star Trek. Oddly enough, there was no mention of anything else like D&D, vampires, furries, or whatever. Maybe they didn't bother with the other obscure stuff given the scope of the interview, which mainly focused on the technique they used.

The columnist seems to only dwell on the tacky original series in her blathering, and doesn't take into account the newer stuff. The old series was just a cheezy space adventure that didn't bother trying to be a soap opera. She's grasping at every ludicrous straw trying to equate Star Trek with pedophilia, and failing badly.

But come on, folks, lay off the Trekkies. They're such an easy target. Isn't it time to mock someone else?

hehehehe!

IIRC the photos were taken by the pedophile in order to document what he had done to his victim. The police didn't know where the crime had been committed; all they had were photos of a girl being abused in a generic-looking hotel room. They were hoping that people could identify the location so they could narrow their search for the perpetrator.

Regarding the article, it's pretty much something for the "Grain of Salt" folder. I think Star Trek is merely emblematic of semi-progressive late 60's attitudes, not some kind of pedo recruiter. The author does make the following statement right off the bat, incidentally:

This does not mean that watching Star Trek makes you a pedophile.

Ohhh the lulz. Thanks for the entertainment, boss.

Looks like Trekkies and Furries have something in common now, except the latter has mostly sexual deviants, and the former only has assumed ones.
