I used to think that furries were the world's most gifted when it came to turning awful tragedy into ego wankery over their own shallow delusions.

But today I read something on the internet that has managed to blow any contempt I have for stuff like that completely out of the water and far far away. Maybe into space or something.

Esmie is a 16 year old livejournal and MySpace darling who killed her mother with a knife because she tried to ground her. No, really, she did. The news story is right here.

As far anyone can seem to tell from her lj, there's no indication that she was abused or forced into a situation where killing might be at least slightly justified. In fact, Esmie seems coddled and was allowed to spend all of her time attention-seeking on the internet.

Anyway, she is now spending some much needed time in a local juvie facility and is updating her journals by writing letters to a friend who has her password. She has yet to show one iota of remorse or even different behavior after the incident, even going on to say that the jailtime is "a lot like a big sleepover". Okay, so the girl is emotionally disturbed and violent. It's a story that's a little out of the ordinary, but terrible things happen every day like this.

But the real mind explosion comes when you read the replies from Esmie's 150+ friends on LJ and MySpace.

From what ive learned from LAW AND ORDER...
The defense might go for Man Slaughter she might get it on account of PMS.

But I think we should all pray for Murder 2nd degree. Life in prison without her precious television or death!

If I was the prosecuting attorney, I'd make a LJ account that is rather nondescript, save for friending this person. Most likely, said account would be friended back. What better way to prove she has no remorse and still is a danger to society than using her own words?

One of the saddest parts of all this is that Esmie is well spoken and intelligent, at least for a 16 year old. There is no doubt that if the journal's used as a part of the evidence that the jury will know she's capable of appreciating the consequences of her actions. Before she was jailed and a "friend" removed a bunch of stuff from it, in several posts she showed a real fascination with death.

It's just amazing to me that instead of any "hey, uh, why the fuck did you stab your mom to death with a knife?" questions from her friends, she's treated to a barrage of unconditional, mindless hugglesquees.

I've seen worse people worshipped. The copious porn made of Nevada-tan is a good example. Really this case didn't get to me at all. *Yawn* A murder. Wow. Like the internet doesn't have whole archives of this shit anyway. Google Albert Fish for Crissakes. The only thing that made this case at all interesting is the livejournal.

Actually the internet is full of this shit ranging from school shooters who made crappy, violent flash cartoons on newgrounds, to fuck-wits removing themselves from the gene pool by taking lethal amounts of drugs online to prove how "hardcore" they were.

Acctually i was very wasted and that joke seemed funny at the time. Most of the girls i've had casual sex with i would be ashamed to be seen with in public.
