It's actually a photo of your kid's photo superimposed on a generic animal body. Arthur acknowledges your kid by saying his/her name in a totally un-arthur voice.
There's a great example on one of my Arthur VHS tapes (SHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUP). The example is for some little girl named Diamond, and Arthur, at one point says
"Hi DIAMOND" saying the kid's name in an incredibly deep voice.
It's hilarious.
