So, I did some diggin in the link provided from, "I hope KAK..." post about Road Rovers. That orginal fan site was closed, however another 'branch' does exist that the founding father made that includes...POLiT- , no um, DiNOSAURS!1!

What? :?

Yeah, I don't know why dinosaurs and I really don't care. I'm just saying it as 'what it is'.

So, has RR just gone completly underground or are we talking only a small handful of fans holding a candlelit vigil?

Current mood: Satanistic wrath
Current music: Mozart's Dies Irae

Computer Dinosaur was KAK's another archenemy or something... back from the POE days. Quite possibly a faggot, too.

Road Rovers was a really stupid cartoon about a dogs of "world leaders" saving world as an anthromorphic superheroes (seriously). Sadly, Hitler's favourite Blondi was absent, and so was Saddam's dog from Hot Shots 2. Some of them were apparently faggots as well, or so I learned from the Kak Fiction.

What's "Road Rovers"? 'Cause every time I hear "Rover" I think of a British, er, I mean, Chinese car manufacturer.

Were not discussing that, were discussing the fan following of Road Rovers.

Heres your answer

Well it could have been worst; they could have moved the series to a different network or outsource the work so it would play in another country, maybe have many seasons od 'sucess'. Right up there with DragonBall Z, Pokemon, and Sailormoon. I give thanks in the fact that I was too conservative at the time the cartoon was on to pay attention. Besides, there were more important things to do:
Play hookey, go fishing, work on my truck, cruise for women, and of course, play Grand Theft Auto...good times

I thought it was another cute kiddie cartoon from the WB. Not as good as Spielberg-branded stuff (Freakazoid, Pinky and the Brain, Animaniacs). But not bad.

And in absolutely no way deserving a fandom.

I picked up an OMGRARE Road Rovers t-shirt the other day at the thrift store...and I'm thinking of putting it up on furbid or something. How much y'all think I could get for it?
Anyways, this is sad.
This guy created an 'original character' that looks just like one of the canon Road Rovers, Colleen. Pathetic, much?

I was a RR fag back in the days. My life was plunged into an abyss of bad puns, United Nations politics and that really catchy "Som-of-a-vich" song that near destroyed Warner Bros. My Archetypal hero was a doberman with an ass-biting fetish and my "Master" became Kofi Annan.

I got help.

Guys? I'm making my own character Albert "Darkfur Kitsune" Moto who is not only a Road Rover, but also a freedom fighter on the planet Mobius. Yes! Dr. Ivo Robotnik and Parvo have teamed up to put a stop to the Road Rovers and the freedom fighters and now these forces unite. Darkfur Kitsune is also a cyborg, has wings, and is a native of Sometown, USA, the home of the road rovers. And he's a sailor senshi too. And he's a Yu-Gi-Oh master.

Never heard of it, in fact, I never knew a song could almost destroy WB.
Can't find a link for it; would it go along the same lines as a South Park song?

It involved the lyrics "Som Of A Vich", which, when spoken or sung, sound like "Son of a bitch".

I had no luck. And that involved going to more Road Rovers fansites than I ever, ever, ever, ever wanted to see. I hate you all. Except CC, and well, Donny of course.

Addendum. I swear. Tress MacNeille has done probably every single female voice in WB's animation division. And if there's any left over, it's probably Frank Welker.

Dunno, but I'd say it looks like the characters from that series have, uh, quite "pornifyable" proportions, compared to other anthro series, which would be the source of it's popularity.

Totally. I can't see the same happening for the HoundCats or Krypto the Superdog (thought it probably has in some dark dank internet subculture)

There's not really controversy over cartoon character porn anymore. It's such a 'normal' *shudders* part of teh internet (not just furrydumb) that people rarley bat an eye. Unless you work for one of the companies putting out those cartoons...in which case you either print out the pictures and post them around the studio for lulz, or you call a lawyer and go LAWSUITE on someone's ass.

I wonder what studios like Spumco think of ren and stimpy porn? I suppose they'd find it hysterical

You're right, cartoon characters porn is considerably mainstream...but I still find the idea of a Simpsons orgy (kids and pets included) downright sick

I'm going to cut to the chase, and just link to the Fashion SWAT article about various porn 'fan' 'art' of TV shows, animated and live action.

If I have to tell you that this isn't worksafe, then you haven't been paying attention:

OH. Okay, new google search finds it on Wikipedia.

It's known as the russian names song.

It's also here with the wav file.

The sad thing is that I glanced past these pages before (For which I still hate you ALL except CC and Donny, natch. Oh, and Ray Girl and Seraph. You're too new for me to hate. Give me time) but didn't bother to read or realize.

Happy now?

Proceeding the song, Colleen confesses her love of toys shaped like bananas. (Yes, I watched it again).

In all honesty, the show was one of Warner Bros better pursuits that year..compared against "Waynehead," "Freakazoid," and "Space Jam."

No, Freakazoid the show had some pretty good one-shot segments (e.g. Toby Danger), but Freakazoid himself bit the big one.

So there. Nyaah.

Them's fightin' words, mister. Freakazoid was awesome.

No, Freakazoid the show had some pretty good one-shot segments (e.g. Toby Danger), but Freakazoid himself bit the big one.

So there. Nyaah.

Freakazoid 'flew' by sticking his arms in the air and running around while making whooshing sounds. If that's not awesome then I don't know what awesome is.

I admit to being one of those who thought that Freekazoid was an awesome show and character. Plus anything that features an Excorist refference earns brownie points in my book.

What were we talking about again? Oh right. Road Rovers. I wonder how the creators of that show sleep at night knowing that their creation has resulted in the emergance of the beast.

Fuck the Road Rovers.
Freakazoid is where it's at. I still remember the theme song like yesterday

Fear my nerdy wrath:

Freakazoid Theme Song

I'll probably only really be able to have this up for a week or so. My server host is pretty cool but he's kinda meh when it comes to MP3's.

Who of you can be accused of ever partaking in the fandom of a cartoon show ?
I mean with drawing fanart, writing fanfics and posting in the particular fan forums ?

I'd done a few. Sonic the hedgehog was the first, then it went to Rayman

But the only cartoon series one I've done was Animals of Farthing Wood

I bow before your nerdy wrath.

Minerva Mink was the thing that cursed me to furrydom. There's also Mousey Galore, from that one Pinky and the Brain James Bond spoof. I also had a thing for (I admit it) Colleen from Road Rovers - thanks to which, Cowgirl's avatar torments me.

I've done some Sonic stuff too, but that was more in the 'funny animal' vein, based on the British Sonic The Comic, which was rather good, in a way.

My first and most long running liking is for the looney tunes.
I still like them, but only the old ones that stand in context with the humor of their time.
That WB tried to copy the characters of the olden times into modern day products like "space jam" is an atrocity in my eyes.
I mainly admire the artists and what they did with what they had.
I like them to be left alone as a milestone of animation.
They do not translate to modern times.

The only really "furry" fanship relation I ever had was with the Hanna Babera Cartoon "SwatKats",a series that was canned half way through the second season. It was unusually violent for a cartoon with some bystanders always being killed or horribly mutated. What drawn me into it was probably that it was kind of a ripoff from spiderman and batman. Two comics I really liked at the time. I also always liked cats. That was about a decade before I even figured out what furry was. A whole city filled with anthropomorphic cats totally intrigued me.
I left the fandom about 5 years ago when it was getting flooded with absolute mental cases.
Some of my most longterm online friends stem from that fandom.

I actually enjoyed space jam because the techniques they used to make it were well done...like who framed roger rabbit...but I can't STAND Lola bunny...one movie and instantly she's Bug's full time girlfriend and even appears in Loonatics. Lets just throw aside all those years of wonderful traditonal slapstick and transvestisism (on the part of bugs) for some blonde bimbo bunny with a bad attitude

Now this why I don't understand what makes Road Rovers so popular over Swat Cats...swat cats was ACE, and the storylines were a lot more dark and cool.

Only the brave will admit that; I give you credit for that. Cowgirls avatar is different from the Road Rovers character, but is there something about it that is triggering these flashbacks? Do you have any abnormal or unusual sleeping problems because of it?

I know, but there's some similarity - or is it just me? The chibi version is alright, but the toon version causes thoughts. Furry thoughts. :x

And yes, I lie awake at night, wishing Captain Cowgirl would turn into her avatar and run away with me. Then I hug my pillow and cry myself to sleep.

Lola Bunny did the rounds (and then some) in furry circles before I actually saw Space Jam. Eventually the movie arrived on TV. I watched it. Then I stopped, after cringing for 20 miutes.

If there was anything to blame for my stumble into furry, it'd probably be TMNT. I grew up fully set on turning into a mutant. Though recently I haven't been much at all active in the TMNT fandom.

Only thing that I actually found funny in Space Jam was the Pulp Fiction skit. I think the entire theatre broke out laughing at that one.

The rest of it though.... *shudder*

That was my childhood influence as well

How did Peter Laird handle the con, by the way?

HA HA HAAAA. Sorry 8D
NO ONE CAN RESIST MAMMY COLLIE'S HOT STEAMY WAFFLES
Anyways
For me, it'd probably have been Looney Tunes. I didn't even know about furry when I created my character...so it could have been a bunch of different things, really.

You're all going to throw things at me but - it was The Witches. Y'know, where the kid gets turned into a mouse. At least that's the earliest furriness I can remember.

Whoops. Guys, we're doing the furry support group thing again.
